LG could do much better.
Overall it's OK to pay midrange price for the unlocked Telstra LG G8s at JB Hi-fi. But supposed it is not in LG's business plan for the heavy discount, also for losing Telstra as its carrier customer.
Detailed comments-
1/ suspected(read weak or bad) LG Portfolio Management strategy leaves G8s markets including Australia feeling being treated as second class, and pushes high end customers to competitors directly.
2/ over 10 years after Apple started iPhone, why the G8s display notch is made that horribly wide?
3/ why the 3.5mm headphone jack is still remained to a flagship model, almost 20 years in the 21st century?
...
Read more4/ why rear-mounted Finger ID is still remained to LG flagship model? 5/ why software development efforts were spent on useless Palm ID but not on improving its face recognition speed/accuracy? 6/ unfornately the selling point, Air Motion is not accuract and is useless. And can't why LG spent resources on it while it IS a handset for users to touch the TOUCHscreen? 7/ plastic sim card tray is vulnerable, not metal-made . 8/ thick lower bezel (together with the massive notch) reduces the display ratio. 9/ the microSD slot eliminates the possibility for mobile carriers (Telstra in the Australian case) to charge extra to premium customers for more storage variants. 10/ inconvenient LG user interface (eg. the extra notice for enabling & disabling mobile data is annoying & unnecessary). 11/ slow software upgrades with potential security concern. 12/ no Quad DAC, no 1440P to lose high end customers.
Purchased in May 2020 at JB Hi-Fi Online Store.

It's not the smartest phone
I've had this phone for about 6 months and for about 4 months it has been turning off randomly. It's really annoying! Getting into the Telstra shop is hard so I've been putting it off. The camera is supposed to be better than Samsung but I don't agree. Otherwise it's a good android phone.
