Mazda 3 Neo Hatch Back
My wife brought a Mazda 3 Neo Hatch in 2015, driving it for almost three years now. Mainly between home and work and we almost drive it everyday.
The good things about this car is
2.0 Engine performs better than for example 1.8 Toyota Corolla
The skyactive technology does actually save some fuel
Fuel consumption combined is around 7L per 100KM which is great
Handling is much better than Toyota Corolla
The look and interior design is just one of the best in the business
It comes with everything you need, like bluetooth, air con works great
And we had a good deal from Ringwood Mazda, really like there service and price

Better than most medium cars out there but a lot of small problems and transmission IS FAULTY
Review Updated:
Have done over 18,000 Kms on it now- I was a Hyundai i30 (2010) owner prior but comparing the new i30 to the mazda 3 I fell in love instantly with the Mazda for its superior seat comfort, ride and handling. The 2.5L engine was a must for me as I found the 2.0L so sluggish, however this is true on most modern cars due to the strict emission regulations and the endless pursuit of fuel economy (But still better than the i30 2.0L equivalent).
Pros:
Their engines are state of the art and I i like the normal atmo/non-turbo engines...Read more
so that was a plus for me. Also a plus the car can uses 91RON fuel (compared to most small turbo engine these days that require 95RON) even though there is some misfiring when the car is cold that gets better when the car warms up. Ride handling and vehicle dynamics are some of the best in class and the SP25 2018 is the last Mazda 3 that comes with the independent rear suspension that adds to the ride quality.

6 year warranty with 3 years of free services and road side assist. Adam Zhang is helpful and provid
Mazda 3 is a very common vehicle and I decided to buy this car purely because of the Mday offers as well as the extra offers from AMR Adam Zhang.
I paid deposit in August 11 and picked up late August. Easy to control and low fuel consumption as well as the blind spot monitoring and emergency stop is the key features that I chose Mazda 3. Model Touring with tinted window.

Good choice
I have driven this car now for 12 months and have had it serviced once in this time I have been able to become very confident of the reliably and the servicing that Penfold Motors Burwood have shown. I have owned many cars in my 54 years of driving and had quite a few ordinary ones and must say this experience so far has been one of the best. I would recommend Burwood Mazda to my friends and family any time.

A good small car for drivers.
If you're after a smallish car with great handling, a punchy non-turbo engine, a semi-luxury interior, good equipment levels, great looks and good customer service from the dealer, this is pretty much your best bet. Not the best car for back seat passengers and the boot is not the biggest in its class.

Mazda SP25 - Great car with Terrible Sat nav
This car is a great for getting from A to B. The Skyactive technology is the best thing about this car. It allows the car to be fuel efficient without compromising power ($50-$60 aud fuel can get me 650-700km at our current fuel price of $1.40 per litre).
The only downside is the satellite navigation. I am having issues with the Satnav resetting itself. It is quite frustrating...especially when i am relying on the GPS.

Great car, dreadful electrics.
I bought a top of the line Mazda 3 Astina hatch in December 2017. Let me first say that it is a well built car, and great to drive. It handles well on the road, and deserves it's reputation as one of the best selling small cars in Australia.
But the electrics (at least on my car) have been nothing but problematic.
1.Since new, the blind spot monitor has given false indications on the driver's side (alarming, when there is no vehicle in the blind spot) The light often comes on for a couple of minutes. This makes the system a little use...Read more
less, because you are unable to trust it. After a couple of visits to the dealer, who couldn't find a fault, both modules (left and right) were replaced under warranty. But the problem still exists. On an empty road, the driver's side still alarms on regular occasions. 2. On occasions, the red 'brake immediately' light would come on, with nothing in front of the car. On the third visit back to the dealer, they found a fault in the forward facing camera, and replaced it under warranty. This seems to have fixed the problem, but it did take a couple of visits to recalibrate the camera. 3. The optional front parking sensors are problematic, in that they come on randomly, while stopped at traffic lights, or simple manoeuvring the car, with no obstacle in front. Mazda must recognise this as an issue, because on the factory installation, they provide a button to turn the front sensors off while driving. Why should you have to do this? In summary then, the car is great to drive, but I would not recommend purchasing the top model with all the electronics on board. The car has done 10000kms, and I am getting irritated by the need to keep taking it back to the dealership for more tests.1 comment

Mazda 3
Virtually perfect 2nd car, used to drive around suburbs and countryside, safely picking up grandchildren to and from school and leisure activities, as an automatic transmission it is easy to drive and with reversing sensor and the optional front sensors fitted driving and parking is much more comfortable and convenient. Purchase price was competitive and affordable for us pensioners. It is economical to run and looks great.

What a fantastic car
The 2.5 litre engine combined with the 6 speed automatic, sunroof, 18 inch alloys, 4 wheel disc brakes, BOSE surround sound speakers with a graphic equalizer makes this a very comfortable car to drive and spend time within. The only issue that I could fault this car is the "ISTOP" feature. This turns the engine off when you are sitting at traffic lights or stopped in traffic, to save you fuel apparently ? I just find it very annoying and a bit disconcerting, so EVERY time I get in the car I have to switch it OFF.
That said great car, saved a lot by buying a 2017 model.

Luv My Car
Bought June 2016 from Mazda Medlow Bath Dealership ... Staff are great, Owners very good to deal with, the Service Team in Katoomba are good ... all round a great experience owning my first Mazda 3 Maxx ... would say that I would keep buying Mazda's for realiability, fuel economy, great driving and comfort (even on long journeys). The only thing that I would hesitate on rating 5 star is the "ambient" noise when driving long distance on a highway.

Faults of Mazda 3
Mazda 3 is one popular model on the road and there are enough supports to show it's a good car so I just add on from my experience in the last 3 months living with it.
Bad:
1) Visibility, especially pillar in front of driver seat.
2) Reluctance to thrust forward from i-start, i.e. from traffic light despite the power is adequate in other aspect
3) Unfriendly SatNav system. Not smart enough. It turns very dim at night.
4) Small boot.
Good:
1) Nice looking

Excellent Car to buy
An excellent car to buy. Purchased this car almost 2 years ago and I'll say that this was a good decision so far. This car has good features embedded in it like its handling is quite smooth and leather upholstry is of good quality. The engine is fuel efficient as you expect from japanese manufacturing. All in all its a good buy.

Great product, just what I wanted
Only brand new, loved the whole experience of buying a new car. My previous vehicle was a Mazda 3, hard to get away from them once you have owned one. This car is very economical and smooth to drive. The toggle button located on the console is very easy to use. Very handy the keyless entry and push button start. Great range of colours to choose from that look very stylish. Definitely would recommend this car to anyone looking.

Great car to drive
This car is a fantastic car to drive! I love getting behind the wheel and I make any excuse to. The car is very smooth to drive, quick to go from naught to whatever speed limit it is. The seats are very comfortable as well. I love the feel of the wheel. Its great to be able to just jump into the car without pulling the keys out. The running costs are great, at $1.29 for 91 unleaded with 3 bars left in the tank, only cost just under $50 to go full tank! The fuel lasts a lot longer than the precious car we owned. The car is an extremely reliable car basically a dream to drive. Highly recommend buying this car.

Great valued car
Driving as much smoother than my 2012 mazda 3 neo.
Interior design is simple, clean, and luxury.
Car was bought through a dealership with metallic red and car mats included. Price paid approx $23.5k
Petrol cost is not as efficient as other cars but is average.
Sound system is amazing as always and there's a lot of leg room for all passengers including the driver.

2016 SP25 Overall Very Happy
Looks great, spacious, enough grunt for a hatch.
Reasonably economical, noticeable tyre noise but expected after last car was a Honda Euro.
i-stop is a bit annoying and shuts off occasionally when not car has not totally stopped causing it to stall. Can turn it off but have to do it every time you get in which is annoying. Would like to permanently disconnect it but Mazda won't.
Also lumbar support not adequate for long trips. Given SP25 is not base model it should have come with adjustable lumbar support.
Key is very flimsy and breaks eas...Read more

Fuel economy on the Mazda 3 2016 GT series 2.5 ltr
4 answers
there are more fuel efficient cars on the market, but they are not as structurely sound. This is not necessarily a fact, its just I feel safer in her than my friends similar priced cars ie: Hyundi, Kia,
may be get a zimmer, paint work is thin and warranty claims,,,forget it,take care,
Geraldine, other way around! Mazda makes particularly fuel efficient cars, but other cars are more structurally sound.

What is Mazda 3 like on country roads or gravel roads and corrugation etc? How does it handle it?
1 answer
Sorry, can't help there-only driven on sealed roads. It does handle well even on 'lousy' sealed roads. Also handles well on wet roads, even with the rain coming down heavily.

Re comments on fuel economy - has anyone trialled 95 or 98 octane? Results were?
1 answer
Higher octane fuel will improve performance and economy at higher cost. I use the higher octane fuel at higher altitudes or when doing longer distance driving. Mostly depends on your driving style- harsh efforts will cost more. I will not use E10 it is a blatant con. Years ago LPG was a bargain - now I would not use it.
