Amazing Fuel economy. I consistently get 1100ks per tank. (5-6l/100k). This is mixed city/hwy driving. Very quiet for a Diesel. Cant even hear anything when inside the cabin when car is running. From outside definately sounds different to a petrol, but sounds nothing like old school Diesels. Tourque is unbelievable, if you need that extra bit of beef to pass someone on the open road, the MZR-CD will definately come to the party. You will not be dissapointed. Bose sound system - standard on hatch (as well as leather interior) has an unbelievabl...Read more
e sound. Seats are very comfortable. Drivers electric seat with memory is very useful if there are 2+ drivers of different heights. Excellent size boot. If you want to look after your Turbo, and save yourself repairs in the future, remember to let the turbo cool down for at least 30sec prior to turning the ignition off. General Turbo care petrol or Diesel.Do yourself a favour, kick petrol to the kerb, drive a Diesel, save $$$$$ on fuel bills and much less emissions. DIESEL MODEL. MZR - CD. AMAZING FUEL ECONOMY! Great Tourque, great for overtaking no matter what gear you are in. NOTHING. Or maybe perhaps that sometimes you have to wait in line for a Diesel bowser at service stations. Not a fault of the car, just goes with the territory.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have recently just got my first car, in my short list I was going for a Lancer VRX, Honda accord Euro, Mazda 3 sp2 and Camry sportivo. To be honest I was really leaning towards the Lancer side until I happened to stumble on a Mazda 6 classic sports hatch this weekend. With its stylish headlights and body shape, this is one of those cars that just shout out “Hey look at me”. Inside the car you will find a full set of leather seats, an even more stylish dashboard and sunroof as standard. The car offers plenty of headroom for all your passengers...Read more
and the leather seats just wraps itself around you. The boot has an impressive 550L capacity ( says the salesman ) and the rear seats can be folded for even more boot capacity. The car drives like a dream, with good handling and road hugging abilities. The only let down is for a $40,000 car there is a lack of features, such as rain sensing wipers and dusk sensing headlights, which is all available on the cheaper sportivo and lancer VRX as standard. It does not break the car but little extras like that would make the Mazda 6 classic sports hatch complete. The sleek lines, good performance, low fuel consumption rate and safety. Lack of basic features

Despite the things I don't like the Mazda 6 is a nice car - both to own and to drive. I do not regret owing it and am about to pass it onto my son. I fed all of my issues back to Mazda for no affect! I am not buying another Mazda 6 - this is more due to the latest model being virtually identical to what I have - for the money I am sure I can now do better. I would have thought there would be something changed in 4 years other than 6 gears on the manual and some minor colour changes on the console.

Daniel78, I take it from your comment that you beleive I drove the car hard because it is sporty and that was the cause of the wearing tyres. Not so, see my fuel acconomy figures and consider I stil... Read more
l had the same breaks as when the car was delivered. The dealer told me that even the new M6 was heavy on tyres. I am aware of adjustable mirrors to eliminate blind spots, it needed a lot mor care than on any other car I have driven to actually get rid of the blind spots. My comments are to give my opinion of the car I bought and owned. I beleive this is why the site is here? If this is not what you have found, I suggest you put in your own review.
I passed this car onto my son 6 years ago and he is still driving it. He is now thinking of trading up as this model is now showing signs of age. He has done 220,000klm or so and at the last service... Read more
the front shock absorbers needed replacing. No complaints there except the cost - the replacement items and the fitting is "non-standard' and cost all up around $800 to have replaced. Not long after this service my son went on a trip from Canberra to Tamworth and back. His arc on system crashed on the way back. When it went in for repair - not a standard system and the total repair (replacement compressor, re-gass etc) cost him $1400.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A good car that will be reliable and offer good easy transport with nice sporty looks and plenty of room inside as well. Good boot size for trips away and a smooth drive on long rides.
Good sporty and modern looking medium sized car, great range of options and diesel too, good interior design and space and plenty of storage and room in the boot, drives fine even with 2.3L four in standard model form, great build quality and perfect reliability
Better for carrying 4 than 5, back legroom ok only and should have more power from a 2.3L engine

A great car all round. We were looking at other cars and they don't come close to the Mazda6 in quality and features available. Also, the service we've received from the dealer has been great. They even do a 1 month or 1000km check which is great. They are really trying to maintain the Mazda brand at a high standard.
Great car. Drives really well. Pretty good fuel consumption around the city. Comfortable seats. Affordable price range with a lot included.
Central locking only from drivers door (you can't lock all the doors from the front passenger seat, as far as I know).

Very smooth, very comfortable and easy car to drive. I would recommend this car over any other in it's class because the build and drive is just fabulous. Mazda make some truly brilliant cars and this is definately up there. I think this car would suit falcon/commodore buyers because of it's size and practicality, only it'd use half the fuel.
wonderful all round car. Hard to beat for the price. You can pick a used 02/03 model up for a song now. Feels sportier than a camry. Fuel economy is remarkable as well, and this was just the base model unleaded. The diesel would be an absolut miser!
not much feel in the steering. (minor gripe though)

For the luxury model, which costs around $45K am very impressed. I would buy one again given the chance. Very highly recommended however the engine needs to be turbocharged or larger to get a more sporty vehicle.
Build quality, inclusions such as climate control air con, trip computer, full complement of airbags, leather trim in luxury model and above all a QUIET drive with excellent handling. The best mecahcical feature is the renowned 'activematic' sportshift gearbox. Apparently Mazda are the best in the business when it comes to gearboxes an...Read more

Great car to drive, its smooth and reliable. I have the Luxury model with the leather trim and sunroof, all that is missing is heated seats and a navigator.
The navigator, I added on as well as a Bluant hands-free devise. But the drive is great. I would like to be able to use unleaded fuel instead of premium but the premiun does boost the engine. The boot size on the hatch is reasonable and the passenger seats and driver side are specious. I was thinking of trading and upgrading to the new 6 but i know i'll have separation issues. I love my Mazda 6.
Perfect for almost anyone.
Premium fuel only.

Quite good although let down by modern Mod Cons available in other Japanese cars of similar standard. If you after someting simple and has reasonable resale value then look at the Mazda. If you want modern techknowlegy....look at VW Passat, Subaru Legacy, Audi etc.
Great car with excellent styling. The new Mazda platform (Mazda 2,3,6,7) has really done well in sales and thier marketing team has done extremely well. They really hit the target here in OZ. The design of the Mazda 6 is terrific with lots of storage space inside the cabin. Plenty of...Read more

Best car I have ever had. I have a wife with 2 kids and it is perfect for us as a family.
Purchased a 2007 Mazda 6 Wagon about 3 months ago second hand. Best car I have ever had... Honest. Fuel consumption on the Highway is 6.7 - 7 ltrs per hundred.
No multi-Medi plug for your iPod etc. Other than that no Cons at all

Overall, this is an amazing car. Plays the role of a family sedan when required, but takes on hotted up boy racers or V6's no probs. Handling is amazing and overall, this is just a pleasure to drive. Maybe a hatch would have been nice for functionality, but perhaps the chassis would not have been able to handle it. You can get used to the clutch quite quickly if you're stepping out of an auto, but may take longer if coming out of a manual. Honestly, I've driven many, many cars from 1.3L city run abouts to pure sports cars & I can't think o...Read more
f any other car I would rather own. Very well built and finished, excellent handling chassis & suspension. Very good fuel economy (considering the stupid amounts of tubocharged power from the 2.3L DISI engine). Mine is nearly 3 years old & no problems. AWD is excellent and the DSC is enough to help you out when you find the understeer point. Wheels are a pain to clean & you can't display the clock & trip computer at the same time. A factory turbotimer would have been nice. Only other 'con' is that it has been discontinued & Mazda Australia can't confirm if we're getting a 6 MPS for the new model.Similar opinion? Excellent car for its price, safety features and performance and again its stunning looks. It reminds me of a mini Ferrari with its sharp nose and headlights.
Great Looks, handling and performance including good fuel economy.I get 8.9l/100k around town and 6.5l/100km on the highway. It will got to 9.6L/100km when pushing hard.
5 speed autotransmission has a funney hesitation going into 4th on rare occassions. Email me at [email protected] if you have this problem to.

I love our Mazda 6. When we were looking for our new car, I didn't want just an ordinary looking wagon, it had to look a bit sporty and different, not just a boring white wagon full of kids. We have a dark blue (purple in the right light) Mazda 6 with black leather interior and tinted windows. It's a decent size car and doesn't feel too big - I was used to driving small hatches and this wagon didn't feel like driving a tank. This car is a fantastic car to drive, and one I am proud to be seen getting out of ;o)

As per the previous write up, it's hard to fault this vehicle. Plenty of torque and handles towing my boat just as well as my previous vehicle (2.8 TD Nissan Patrol). The diesel engine is quiet. Road noise less than Subaru. Great family car. (Would have been great as a 7 seater)
Great fuel consumption. Fantastic for towing.

Interior comfort level, climate and cruise control, both easy to use and more responsive than other late model vehicles I have driven. Overall, the Classic 6 has exceeded my expectations as at the present time.
Would give the car a score of 9 out of 10.

So far we have been to Merribula, Sydney and Cooma in varying weather conditions and the car performed beautifully.
We are a family of four and there is plenty of room in the back for my twin five year olds. Extras such as the climate control and power windows are real safety items as it ensures the girls are comfortable and safe.
The only doubt i have is whether the Euro Accord handles better - but it would have to be really great to beat this car!!

Picked it over Honda Accord for style,
This vehicle supplies what an average family need, flexability space and performance. Petrol efficiency is only achieved with moderate driving styles, but for a sporty relief, give it a go and even with midrange kW power, it goes. A great purchase without a doubt.
Style space & cruising speeds are good, overtaking is zippy & it's still a striking car
With a quick 1st Gear jump, it does exaxtly that JUMPS, and pulls wildly, needing a bit of moderation for launch speed addicts.Blind spots are a LARGE CONCER...Read more

One of the better cars I have owned.
Great finish and quality materials and fittings. Excellent safety - 6 airbags. Previously had Commodore and appreciate greater fuel economy of the Mazda. Performs well on highway. Excellent auto box which adjusts to individual driver habits. Follow up after sale has been very good. I have owned it for 12 months with hardly a problem.
Tends to be a bit noisy compared to Commodore. PLP is also rather costly. Does ping at times.

They have a timing chain, not a belt. It should last the life of a properly maintained motor

Not hard to see why you went through tyres. These are sporty looking family cars not actual sports cars. I dont know of a single car without a blind spot. Thats why the mirrors are adjustable.
