Navman MY670LMT Questions & Answers (page 5 of 6)
111 questions from our users
I recently purchased a MY670LMT, and on our first time using it (19 May 2018) I noticed the speeds shown are wrong, when in a 110 km/Hr zone it reads 100 km's/Hr. When in an 80 km/hr zone it reads 60 km's/hr. Also I find the audio output level VERY VERY weak, I wear two hearing aids and can not hear anything with the volume up full bore because of road and vehicle noise. Had a Tom Tom before and the audio was 10 times louder and quiet audible for me in the same vehicle.
Please contact me on how the Audio output level can be adjusted a lot louder and why are the speed limit notifications are incorrect?
I have constantly notified navman about their wrong speed zones and have even named many specific roads which are totally wrong ! there response was it can take up to 3 updates to make the alteration...

Read moreI notice you have told me the maps in the Navman are Tom Tom so maybe you should have your Audio Output at the same level as Tom Tom so people with hearing loss can hear it. I am now stuck with a new, unused navigator that will not be used as I will have to buy a new TOM TOM!!My Navman MY670LMT has locked up. After entering a destination and receiving dozens of trip event updates due to a terrible traffic conditions I selected points of interest to find a cafe. The screen locked up on displaying a list all the cafes in the area. Eventually an Error Message appeared stating "Program memory is very low. You must select one task to close, or increase the amount of program memory, if available. Select SmartST_CE or AppStartupSec"
What does this mean?
Whats the best thing to do?
Can the selection be undone later?
Thanks

Seems as though response time is much faster too - really good. Must be the new 800MHz processor
Disappointing that the USB is still the old style..
A "Quick start" instruction page on unpackaging would be really useful and maybe reduce the number of people encountering difficulty in getting up to speed with the unit - E.g. - I thought that I could use old NavDesk 7.5 on my PC to do updates... Nope! Found out the hard way that it wont work and had to go looking in the box for the CD with "a new NavDesk" that to all appearances is the same as 7.5. No big deal but it would improve user perception and therefore your STAR rating.
My 5th Navman (and had one TOM TOM (yuk). I'm hoping that the hardware is more robust where the last units just stopped functioning properly after 4 years - or is that built in obsolescence?
Will keep you posted...

Read more regarding NavDesk 7.5 i do appreciate the feedback, and it would be a great idea to have something on the box or in the Quick Start Guide advising that the newer version should be installed and used. i will forward this on to our product development team today! though i can also state that Navman does not participate in planned obsolesce, and there can be a range of reasons why a product may or may not fail "just outside the warranty" I would always urge customers to reach out to us in any case, to see if any assistance can be given. A friend also recently purchased the save unit and has the same problem. My previous Navman ezy250lm worked fine and the speed were always correct (including on the same street where the new navman is showing 50). So what's the story and how can this be fixed. Read moreeturn the unit and get refunded, but I was refused to get the refund. The customer service of NAVMAM is very unsatisfactory and I will never ever buy a NAVMAM product in my life time. Even though they say that free maps for update, they don't know when the new map(s) will be available. May be one will have to wait for months or years. It looks like that once the product is sold, NAVMAN doesn't care about the problems faced by the customer.Updates are supposed to be available at 6-monthly intervals, so theoretically your Navman should never be more out of date than six months. Of course, you need to use the supplied software.
I recently purchases the Navman MY670LMT GPS after owning an older smaller 5" model Navman for many yeras. I have found the cradle holding the larger MY670LMT 6" GPS vibrates more when mounted on the car widscreen than the other 5" unit I owned. Is there a similar more stable cradle that can be purchased for the MY670LMT GPS that is similar to the more stable cradles supplied with your Navman 5" GPS units. That is a cradle which holds the unit at the top and bottom like a "C" clamp? Regards Rodney.

All the best BeenHi Rod .... we use the std cradle that comes with the GPS but have not experienced any vibration but our power cable comes from the unit when on the windscreen to the 12V plug which is in the console ...
Read morein our car so the cable MAY be holding it still as runs from windscreen over the gear stick to the plug so may be a bit tighter perhaps. We also (due to glare sometimes) locate the GPS down near the gear stick so we can better see the display and of course while that helps with the glare you do have to look down which can be a bit unsafe while driving but no vibration either. You can get another cradle which maybe worth investigating as is a more heavy duty one so that MAY hold it better. One thing worth trying is place the GPS on the windscreen so the bottom of the GPS touches the dash as that might hold it still. If it makes a rubbing type noise being plastic on plastic or just to protect the dash from scratching (which it shouldn't anyway) perhaps place a bit of fabric between the dash and the bottom of the GPS, a tissue even or get one of those stick on felt surface protectors (sell in Bunnings) and then it lives on the bottom of the GPS. What I have noticed is that if the bottom of GPS is not touching the dash and you press a screen option on one side of it, the GPS will turn sideways on the cradle which is a bit of a pain as you then have to straighten it which could take you eyes off the road, so placing it so the bottom touches the Dash may solve 2 possible issues for you. ...... Hope that gives you a few options to consider. Cheers RobHi! Rodney, I have other issues but mounted mi e so that the base of the unit rested on my dash mat and that stopped any vibrating.
