Watch for Oil Leaks!
I have had my 2017 NP300 RX 4x4 work vehicle since 2017 and it has now travelled 80,000km, 80% highway, 20% offroad. The NP300 is a comfortable and quiet ute on the road, and is economical. However, it is not what you call tough offroad or reliable. I have looked after the vehicle and it has been serviced by Nissan since new. Issues I have had include :
- Oil sump leaking oil (wife not happy with driveway) - Fixed by Nissan under warranty
- Fuel filler cap stopped opening
- Oil leak between engine and gearbox (approx 70,000km's) - Nissan needed...Read more

Great drive, BUT!
My 2016 NP300 RX has been great. It’s a comfortable ride, tows my 18’ van easily, plenty of power, reliable ... most of the time.
Since new the car has had an issue with sustained low speed where you need to feather the throttle, such as driving along a road with numerous roundabouts, like the Main Street of Bunbury, Western Australia. The engine misses (coughs) as if there’s a huge lag in the computer getting the message to the fuel system. Another time this is bad is when driving off road where a constant speed can’t be maintained.
Despite ...Read more
repeated attempts to get this fixed, because the computer doesn’t register a problem, the service department say there is nothing to fix. Even after taking one of the mechanics for a drive his comment was “OMG, that’s a bad miss!”, still no joy. This Friday it’s booked in again and I’m hoping after talking with the dealer principal, this time they may actually achieve something. But seriously, I’ll be ready to upgrade in 2 years time and would be proud to have another Navara. Sadly, this experience is enough to put me off, unless the service people finally take me seriously and fix it!Purchased in August 2021 at Nissan Dealers.

2018 RX First impressions not good
Took delivery of a new 2018 Navara dual cab RX after driving an Amarok for the last 5 years.
Literally jumped out of the Amarok and into the Navara and first impressions are not good.
The 5 year old base model Amarok with 180k is twice the car the new Navara is in every department.
The old Amarok had better steering, acceleration, suspension, seats, controls, road noise, engine noise.
The new Navara has boat like steering (not joking) its bad. Big diesel tank like engine noise (have to turn the radio up)
Lots of corner lean (takes away ste...Read more

Not what I expected
Not what I expected at all
Poor quality
Nissan used to be good but this quality has gone down
Dealership service terrible they don’t care that the ute is falling apart after 1 year
Waste of money avoid at all costs
Very disappointed
Even my mechanic was shocked how poorly built
They are not made to last anymore
Ended up selling it

reliable
engine performs well, noise levels okey.Top of head rest pushes your head forward, had to remove and bend the rods now its comfortable, i wont damage my neck in an accident. ride is bouncy, rear coil springs too soft, have added 200kg by changing to tray and canopy. will have to look at lowering the front at some stage
in original format fuel consumption was 9.5 lts /100 with extra weight consumption now is 10.3 lts/100

Great car
My partner and I recently purchased a nissan navara. We both love it. Its great on diesel the new shape is alot nicer and the interior is really nice for a ute. I only wish we would of got the reverse camera. But easy enough to get an after market. All in all its a great car that drives easy. And value for money is alot better than majority of utes on the market.

Excellent
Pro's
7L/100km, love the six speed Manuel gearbox, plenty of clearance and turning circle is good. Extremely comfortable ride and goes up large hills effortlessly.
Cons
Radio is staticky at times and Bluetooth sometimes doesn't like to sync up with your phone.
COMMON Problem as I've come to learn... unfortunately starting to rust around rear window by seals my ute is only 3700kms old. This issue is extremely rampant in all np300 models and is fortunately covered by your warranty.

Pleased overall
Update - 45,000km in and faultless, very comfortable dual cab.
I updated from MY14 Hilux and the Np300 is miles ahead with a very smooth, civilised ride and engine when comparing to the coarse and agricultural Hilux (saying that is was a superb unit). I have the RX, less powerful single turbo however happy with acceleration. Even in RX the nice bits are included - auto lights, single touch lane change blinkers, lights on door card, excellent sound proofing, solid 6 speaker stereo, with coil springs it rides like an SUV.
No external temp is...Read more

Very happy so far
Received my vehicle mid January and have only travelled around 4,500 klms but so far quite happy.
Engine is quieter than my mates Colorado. Never really checked how fuel consumption is but it is what it is.
Cruise control is simple to use and the whole dash layout very functional.
Only niggles I have is the microphone seems to echo at the callers end ( new stereo coming), the drink holder in the rear is in a silly spot and the glove box is so small the name actually suits (glove box) as it really can't fit much more.
Overall good value for...Read more

Speedometer Error
Just turned over the 1,000km and have it booked in for the free (visual) 1/2hr check. During the week my wife and I thought we seem to be driving very slow compared to the speedometer reading. Happen to pass a Radar Speed Check and we found that at 100kph (cruise control set) actual speed was 89kph. Wow what a shock, fuel economy is bad enough at 9.8L/100 but if travelling at actual speed, it would be worse. All cars must fall within the parameters of an Australian Design Rule that requires that the speedo must not indicate a speed less t...Read more
han the vehicle’s true speed or a speed greater than the vehicle’s true speed by an amount of more than 10 per cent plus 4km/h. That is, with the speedo displaying 100km/h the vehicle must be travelling between 87.3km/h and 100km/h. This gives the perception that drivers are travelling faster than what they really are - or exactly at the limit. Now comes the hidden hit in the pocket. As tyres wear we travel slower which increase the error of the speedometer. Your hard earned and expensive warranty is now reduced again by 10% plus as your km based warranty is automatically and secretly shortened. My Googling Speedo errors has shown that Nissan has the 2 worst vehicles tested. I believe that there maybe available a mechanical correction unit available which fits onto the gearbox. not cheap but may add 1500 km to your warranty also you should know what actual speed you are doing. Spoke to the Service Manager (local Nissan) he said the the " D40 had similar issues" and Nissan did nothing. He was not certain if the Speedo and the ODR are coming off the same inputs or if the ODR guage was analogue and would not effect the warranty reading. Follow up: By increasing tyre diameter on the std 16" rim by using a 235/85/R16 tyre (approx $245@) over the factory fitted 205/R16C you will decrease the error margin by 8.16%..... in a nut shell Speedo reading 100kph, actual speed 98 kph :-) 9/2/16 Nissan Aust. was asked if the above tyres were OK for the vehicle.. Reply- 'we recommend the tyres that were on the vehicle'. ( and thats all she said folks!) NB: rotate all 5 tyres regularly to even out the wear, then replace all 5 and you can generally get a discount on buying a full set. Select a tyre compound (type) that is best suited to your general usage.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
