I am looking at purchasing the Noa Hybrid but have a few questions!
How heavy is the mattress?
What zone are the pocket springs?
Is there side support on the edges of the mattress?
How often should you rotate the mattress?
Thankyou....Allison

Maggie H.Noa

Hi Allison,

Thanks so much for reaching out, I'd be more than happy to answer your questions :)

1. The springs in the Noa mattress are individually pocketed but not "zoned".

In fact however, when multiple comfort layers (such as our natural latex and cooling gel memory foam) are placed atop a pocket spring support layer, "zoning" benefits are not as enjoyed by the user as opposed to a pocket spring only mattress - in which the user sleeps directly atop the different zones of pocket springs. This is just a way to charge more for a feature users will hardly notice.

As newer mattresses incorporate more diverse components and layers, providing a clear answer on the impact of a single material (i.e. springs) is becoming increasingly more difficult (i.e. coil count is important for innerspring-only mattresses).

Brief, your sleep experience is influenced by the interaction of all layers as one rather than any singular layer on its own.

2. The Noa mattress has good soft edge support however, due to the fact that the product is compressed and rolled, it is impossible (structurally) to use a steel perimeter along the edge (in the mattress) like traditional mattresses.

3. We recommend rotating the mattress 180 degrees every 3-6 months.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

With kind regards,

Maggie

How long after we opened the mattress can we sleep on it? The website says immediately but wont it interfere with the expansion?

1 answer

Maggie H.Noa

Hi Rudi, using your mattress the same day you've received it won't interfere with its expansion however, we do recommend allowing 2-3 days for it to reach its optimal form and comfort.

You may also wait 2-3 days and leave the mattress uncovered before using it for the first time if this would give you piece of mind :)

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for sharing your question.

Once you receive the mattress, there will be a "new" smell, which should go away within a few days.

You may even let the mattress air out without any linens for 2-3 days before using it.

Please let us know if we can provide you with any additional information! :D

Hi Becky,

Thank you very much for reaching out and sharing your questions with our team.

We share the same values as you do when designing, sourcing and manufacturing our products. I'm happy to provide you with greater insight into what guides our approach on these issues:

We use ethically sourced and sustainable materials across all of our products as much as possible. For example:

Our mattress features sustainably sourced, eco-friendly Tencel and OEKO TEX Standard 100 foams.

Our bed frames use FSC certified, sustainably sourced MDF and wood components.

Our sofas are completely upholstered using LiveSmart performance fabrics from the U.S.A. - fabrics that are made respecting the highest of manufacturing standards and more importantly, adhering to the strictest of compliance standards.

Our products are independently tested by one of the world's leading compliance firms - SGS - to ensure that our products and their materials / components adhere to the highest manufacturing standards possible. For instance, none of our products contain:

- Low volatile organic compound emissions (VOCs)
- Made without PBDEs, TDCPP and other flame retardants
- Made without mercury and lead
- Made without formaldehyde or phthalates

I would like to add that our Co-Founder and CEO, Mr. Jeremy Kopek, regularly and personally visits all of our manufacturing partners' production sites to ensure that facilities are excellent across their production capabilities, cleanliness, safety and security and worker happiness. In fact, we're proud to share a few photos of him from a recent trip.

Hopefully, this information is helpful to you. We welcome any additional questions or concerns that you may have.

Noa Mattress

Hi are these matresses good for heavy people? We are 5ft7 and 85kg and 6ft and 105kg. Also what are the DENSITIES not the thicknesses of the fillings in the mattress and the coil gauge and how many coils. I am prepared to try it if my questions are answered fully. I don't want a mattress that sinks or isn't supportive in a couple of years. Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer.

Hi there!

Thank you so much for sharing your question with us on ieatwords.com.au.

The Noa hybrid mattress was designed as a "universally" comfortable mattress - enjoyed by customers of all ages, heights, weights / body types as well as for those who sleep on the sides, back and/or stomach. The maximum (optimal) weight supported is 180 kgs (396 lbs).

Below are the layer thicknesses for each component our of mattress. The density of each layer is proprietary information and for this reason we can't disclose it.

Natural latex: 2cm
Gel infused memory foam: 4cm
Transition pad: 1cm
Pocket springs: 16cm
Transition pad: 1cm
Bottom support foam: 2cm
Perimeter encasing: 9cm (around the pocket springs)
TENCEL® cover and bottom quilt: 2cm
Total thickness of the NOA mattress: 28cm

For the purposes of providing insight into our product without knowing which specific size you are looking for, the pocket spring count for a queen mattress is 638 (2.0mm orthopaedic quality, thick gauge). We do wish to highlight that the traditional mattress industry is plagued with marketing gimmicks and overcomplicated product descriptions, resulting in unnecessary confusion for customers. When comparing spring count, the thickness of the pocket springs plays a major role.

More importantly, as newer mattresses incorporate more diverse components and layers, providing a clear answer on the impact of a single layer (i.e. springs) is becoming increasingly more difficult. (i.e. coil count is important for innerspring-only mattresses). Brief, your sleep experience is influenced by the interaction of all layers as one sleep surface rather than any singular layer on its own.

To increase the longevity of your product's lifespan - whether a Noa or otherwise - we do recommend rotating the mattress (180 degrees) every 3-6 months.

Please feel free to write us anytime at [email protected] for additional information.

With kind regards,
Maggie

Noa Mattress

Hi,

Last summer I purchased a 'top of the range' sleep maker mattress and it was a nightmare - I couldn't fall asleep from overheating and when I did get to sleep I'd wake up in a pool of sweat! Luckily the mattress was refunded (many others online complained about it's overheating). I'm now seeking the coolest mattress possible! Ive been recommended to NOA online - can you tell me if this is a cool mattress? The memory foam concerns me.

Thank you!

Maggie H.Noa

Hi Marianne!

Thank you for sharing your question here on ieatwords.com.au. Apologies for not replying sooner.

The Noa hybrid was designed precisely for the tropical / humid climates of Singapore and Hong Kong (as well as summer in Australia). Latex is exceptionally breathable (as is our Tencel cover), the cooling gel memory foam - as its name implies - is made to minimize heat retention and most importantly, our layer of pocket springs ensure proper air flow throughout the product (unlike foam only mattresses).

We hope this information is helpful to you. Feel free to email us at [email protected] anytime.

I live in Melbourne so very different. I thought a memory foam mattress would be heating but so far I haven’t found that to be the case. I’ve lived in the tropics too so understand the problems. My advice would be to do the 100 day trial to see how it goes. It’s hot on a conventional mattress in the tropics. I think the Noa would stack up well. Give it a go.

A wool pile underlay/mattress topper is the key to keeping a mattress cool. The layer of wool ensures that there is a boundary of air between your body and the foam - reducing the likelihood of feeling hot and sweaty.

Maggie H.Noa

Great question! The Noa mattress was designed precisely for the climates of Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Indeed, memory foam only mattresses to retain heat. The Noa features a hybrid construction including breathable natural latex, cooling gel memory foam and most importantly, orthopaedic quality pocket springs (this layer optimizes airflow).

That said, the best way to know whether it's for you is to actually try it in the comfort of your own home - the 100 night trial is a great way to find out :)

Noa Mattress

Hi, I'm looking to buy a queen size mattress. I have chronic back pain and a prolapsed disc in the L5S1 hence suffer acute & chronic pain. I prefer a medium comfort mattress because a hard mattress puts too much pressure on my spine. I sleep predominantly on my back and when necessary on my side too. I so can't do hard/firm mattresses. I recently purchased a mattress from a local retail store. I've slept on it for 24 days and I've experienced acute pain the entire time. I am interested in trialling your mattress. How many days may l trial to decide to keep it or return it Also, please list/advise best variety of bed bases you recommend. If one of the choices is a slat bed, please advise the width space between the slats etc. Thank you, MAJ

Maggie H.Noa

Hi Maj,

Thank you for sharing your questions and comments. We're sorry to hear about the chronic back pain you are experiencing.

Hopefully the information below is helpful.

Our customers across Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong consider the Noa medium firm (without a plush top) - they typically rate it a 7 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being firm as the floor). In terms of firmness, if you do enjoy a plush mattress, the Noa will likely not be suitable for you. Kindly note that the use of a firmness scale is rather subjective as firmness is experienced differently based on the user's weight, height, sleeping position and even the ambient temperature of the room/home. You should definitely read through our reviews on ieatwords.com.au.

You may notice in reading reviews that many customers, whom like yourself have back pain, no longer experience it. With that said, from time to time, customers ask us whether our product can help cure or alleviate a chronic issue (neck pain, back pain, post-surgery issues, etc.). We are confident in our product's quality and its ability to provide a great night's rest - thousands of customers in Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong love the product and have, based on countless reviews, never slept better.

However, we cannot in good faith guarantee that it will alleviate said health issues as the underlying problems may go beyond the scope of a mattress. I prefer to be transparent and honest in the answer - hopefully, you understand. For these reasons, the 100 night trial is a great way to find out :)

In terms of bed bases, we recommend one that has slats (spaced between 4-7cm apart.).

Feel free to email us at [email protected] anytime for more information. We're always happy to help.

With kind regards,
Maggie

Noa Mattress

Hi,
I am considering purchasing a single for my 2 year old, it will be her first ‘big’ bed.
Will this be too firm for such a small person or will she just sink down even?
Thanks,
Renee

Maggie H.Noa

Hi Renee,

Thank you for sharing your question. Thank you so much for reaching out!

The Noa mattress is great for children and adults alike, and has been purchased by many parents across all the countries in which we operate: Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Our product's natural latex is OEKO Tex Standard 100 materials and the foam layers are all REACH certified (low VOCs).

The product is widely considered medium-firm by customers who typically rate it a 6-7 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being firm as the floor). The use of a firmness scale is rather subjective as firmness is experienced differently based on the user's weight, height, sleeping position and even the ambient temperature of the room/home. The factors aforementioned all contribute to a different sensation of firmness.

The best way to know whether it's suitable for your 2 year old is to try it and enjoy the 100 night trial period. Once you complete your purchase online, we'll ship you a brand new mattress. You'll will have 100 nights to try it out. If for whatever reason it's just not right, email us during the trial period and we'll coordinate a free return pickup. Once collected, we'll refund you in full. Lastly, we do wish to highlight that the Noa mattress has a thickness of 27cm which is not always suitable for specific (children) bed frames (just something to keep in mind).

Maggie

Can anyone comment on the amount of partner disturbance you feel on this mattress?
We have been sleeping on a King Size Koala for a month now, and every time my partner rolls or shifts in the bed, the mattress shakes from side to side. My partner is 80kgs and I am 60kgs. I don’t think this should be happening and Koala can’t help.
We are considering sending the Koala back to purchase the Noa in the hopes it will be less shaky/bouncy. I wanted to know if anyone has tried Noa in comparison to foam only mattress and what your thoughts are.

1 answer
Noa
Maggie H.Noa

Hi @Victoria!

Thank you for sharing your question. The Noa mattress was designed to minimize motion transfer and partner disturbance by incorporating a specific layer of 2cm transition foam between the cooling memory gel and pocket springs. We would also add that in contrast to several foam only mattresses with a thickness of roughly 23cm (9'') and featuring 2-3 layers of foam, the structure of the Noa incorporates more than 5 layers totalling 28cm (11'') which allows for partner movement to better transfer across a more solid build of premium materials. Hopefully this makes sense :)

We do encourage you to check out our reviews (both on our site as well as independent third-party sites) for testimonials by customers providing feedback regarding this topic. A final suggestion is to consider the type of bed frame you are using (floor, platform, slat-based) as this may also impact motion transfer between sleeping partners. Price and delivery time, also want to know what does the warranty cover and how it’s different from ecosa mattress?

1 answer

Maggie H.Noa

Hi @Gonerogo!

Thank you for writing us and sharing your questions.

The king size Noa mattress is currently $899. Orders ship for free within 2 business days and are typically delivered within 3-7 business days. Once your product ships, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number. We of course invite all customers to reach out to us by email at any time to provide them with greater insight into the status of their delivery.

For more information on our 15 year warranty, please see https://www.noasleep.com/au-en/warranty/

The design of the Noa hybrid mattress is rather different from Ecosa's (as is the case with many foam-only mattresses). We challenged ourselves to design and engineer one of the world's first, and only hybrid mattresses, delivered in a box at an incredibly low price.

Foam-only mattresses are quite easy to manufacture and package. Furthermore and based on industry data, foam mattresses traditionally (1) retain a little more body heat due to poor airflow (i.e. limited breathability due to adhesives between foam layers), (2) offer inferior support for your body as foam materials sink and sag over time (in contrast to thick-gauge pocket springs) and (3) provide less edge support. Specifically for Ecosa, based on your size preference, they are more expensive than Noa.

The sleep experience between a hybrid and foam-only mattress is quite significant, in large part due to the use of responsive pockets springs. The Noa mattress features orthopaedic quality pocket springs which provide greater support, bounce and breathability while also enhancing the durability of the product.

Brief, the best way to know whether you'll enjoy a mattress (from any brand) is to try it in the comfort and privacy of your own home. That's why the 100 night trial is so great. If the Noa mattress just isn't right for you, let us know and we'll schedule a free return pickup. Once collected, we'll donate it to a local charity and refund you in full.

Please feel free to reach out to our team at [email protected] for more information. We're always happy to help.
