Heaters Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of heater would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Complex to operate, expensive to run
Repeated issues with Noirot panel heaters unnecessarily complex multi step programming, maintaining heat - frequently not turning back on after temperature reached - and affordability - misleading advertising, not economical, expensive to run and very high power load ( they also short circuit our downstairs floor when two are on at same time). Have decided to remove all three of our Noirot panel heaters.

Burnt plastic inside heater
Ive had this heater for about 4 years. Hardly used in an effort to keep the electricity. bill down, I figured the price and lifetime warranty would make this purchase worthwhile but noticed a foul smell when using the heater. On closer inspection i realised one of the brackets had melted and burnt inside the heater. Ive since stopped using it as it is unsafe and a fire hazard.
Purchased in February 2021 at Harvey Norman Big Buys for $500.00.

Not happy
Did not heat up my room at all. Basically had to sitting right near it before feeling any heat. Expensive heater- should work better that this! Very disappointed in this heater. Would not recommend it. Had heat up high, still not feeling any warmth in room. Room not very large.

Great when it actually works, otherwise........
I bought 3 Noirot panel heaters. One of them I bought a few years before the other two. After about 8 years the first one stopped working suddenly and I had to send it to Victoria (from Sydney) to be fixed, costing me time and money.
The other two stopped working after about 6 1/2 years and I now need to do the same, though they have a lifetime warranty. It will still cost money and effort to send. They also need to replace the castors each time as the plastic brackets usually split when taking the castors off. Not environmentally friendly in...Read more

Not bad
Takes a long time to heat anything bigger than a small space, seems to chew power. But the timer features are very handy and given enough time, it heats the space so that it's liveable. Happy enough with it.

Fire hazard
We bought the noirot 2000w electronic 2 years ago for around $450 from good guys geelong. It heats the room up excellent but this week we could smell a plastic burning smell. After shining a torch underneath and having a look we could see the plastic bracket that the heating element sits in has completely melted and has turned black. The melted plastic had then seeped along the heating element. It is on the bracket opposite end to the electrical side. I really thought buying the top range heater and trusted brand that this would never happen. But it has and it could have caught fire if not found this early.

perfect!!!
To cope with the Melbourne winter I bought it this year
Super quiet as you can't tell wether it is on or not unless you take a closer look or feel the temperature
Quick to warm up the master bedroom as well
I got the Dyson heat+cool as well but i prefer this one
perfect for me

this is good. we put it in our shower room for my baby.
In winter,it is cold when we take A shower, especially for baby. So we bought this product, and it is not dispointed us. we opened it 20mins before we shower because it takes some time to warm the whole bathroom, which is the only disadvantage. In one word, we are satisfied with it.

Excellent heater
Very easy to use heater with thermostat. Wall mountable and it even comes with a lifetime warranty. Comes with rollers so it can easily move around. Timer function is quite handy to set multiple schedules.

Best heater ever
Bought this unit last winter. It is the best heater I have ever used. It is quiet to perform, fast to heat, sort of economical to use. No doubt it is the most expensive heater in the market, but it is definitely worth every cent. I am pretty happy with it.

Best heater ever
Bought this for the bedroom as the reverse cycle air con was ineffective from the lounge. We absolutely love it. So quiet, and we set it for a particular temperature and forget it. It gives off a lovely heat, and heats up quickly. We've now gone and bought a smaller model for our daughter's room this winter.

Average for price
Heats well. Quality leaves a bit to be desired. Once wheels are attached they can't be removed without breaking the castors off. Ours broke off just by wheeling heater around house. Not safe with kids, and ridiculous having to buy new castors after only one years use. Expect more for close to $500

Not warm up the room at all
the 2000 watt one I just bought barely warm up and pump the heat. Tested in a few rooms, even with the small study less than 5 Sqm, it hardly warm up. I set the max temperature to 27c, it goes up from 13c to 18c using 2 hours.
Purchased from Harvey Norman, the sales man told me it's a brand new display for being displaying for 2 days only. Very suspicious it's a good one or damaged. And hence my confidence to this product is badly damaged too.
I just can't believe some people here giving review it warm up in 5 mins or 15 mins. Based on what size?
I don't like to buy cheap thing but this brand is over rated. Going to return it

Have just purchased a Noirot. The instructions recommend against using it with an Extension cord. Is there a good reason why not?

The internet has lots of answers to this one. In summary, heaters take a relatively high current for a domestic appliance. When this level of current flows through a mechanical connection such as a mated plug/socket then the resistance of the connection can cause the plug/socket to get hot. This heat generated will be almost 3 times higher with a 2400 watt heater compared with a 1500 W heater (square law). And a 2000 W model will give almost twice the heat in the connector compared with the 1500 W one.
I use an extension cable with my 1500 W heater on occasions but it is a beefy extension cable fitted with a good-quality plug and single socket on the ends. I wouldn't purchase a heater above 2000 watt even without an extension cable; my old house wiring would probably start to smoke.

Hi there! We have six of these fantastic heaters but I just thought - how come it says that there should be a minimum distance of 15cm from the floor to the bottom of the heater to allow for air flow, sounds ok - BUT I just measured the height of the one we have on the castors so we can move it, and the distance from floor to the bottom of the heater is only 10cm!!!! So why did you make the castors so small???? very strange!

That's a brilliant observation. I suspect that the manual was written when this heater was a available as a wall-mounted model only. I believe the wheels are a post-market addition. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't see any problem with 10 cm in either case, wall or wheels. I would guess that the manufacturer originally wanted to maximise the gap to the floor on the wall-mounted version so as to minimise the risk that a carelessly thrown pillow, shoe etc didn't block the inward airflow. I guess they re-assessed the risk / cost when designing the castors.
