Strangely the only people I wanted to talk with all of a sudden had deactivated their accounts.... L

published

Preying on people's emotions and profiteering from untruths. Planting apparently good matches that suddenly have deactivated their accounts. Unconscionable
I have written more than twenty words

September 5th 2017 Update: But wait - there's more.

Even though I deleted - DELETED - my account in May, they have recently been contacting me with an offer to reveal who is looking at my profile. For a price of course.

I joined this site for 3 months for a trail..
At end of three months I was charged for a further 3 months which I didn't authorise. They claim as I didnt tick a box it automatically renews. I have now a closed profile which I have paid for and do not wish to use.
DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE

BAD Site

published

Huge costs which they won't refund when you cancel, saying you didn't cancel... Full of scammers and false postings.
KEEP AWAY from this company. They also have many other name sites on the web but are all part of
the Venntro Media group.

Dating over 60s is a con

published

I am a 69 year old widow and thought I would meet a nice man so I signed up and paid for 1 month. Everytime I answered what I know now was a false message, the gentleman deactivated his account. Then out of the blue there was a message I had sent saying I wanted to chat with him. I didnt send it, the site must have. I felt onliged to talk to him, then he just stopped any contact. I contacted the site, they said all contacts are consumer generated. That is a lie, I think.

My review is about Matchfinder .com .au After paying for one month after the first day kept getting messages saying I couldn't send any messages for 24 hrs.Still not being allowed to message anyone and after several letters to their contact us site, got no replies .I don't know what I can do about this situation

I paid for a month's membership and now my profile is all over the place

published

I joined this site to get back into the dating game.
I am disappointed as, most of the matches are outside my area, even though there are members in my locale.
If I want to know that my messages have been read by others I have to pay for "Bolt ons" which permit this.
Since this morning my profile keeps changing randomly even when I change it back, it changes again, eg, location, preferences, such age, height, hair, etc.
It is not worth the 59.00 I paid out. I will not be paying for another month.

Such a shame

published

I signed up after receiving an advertisement through my emails.
It looked like the very one for me as I was looking for a more mature companion/partner.
You can sign up for free, just as the advert said, but then it costs to retrieve messages. The responses that I did receive were very disappointing, supposedly from honest, sincere, gentlemen looking for their soul mate. Warning......................beware of the words "passionate, affectionate, or loving", if you get my drift!! A waste of money in my experience, such a shame because I did have high hopes of finding a likeminded someone who was not just looking for sex and a housemaid (in that order!).

Older folks dating sites - Venntro Media Group, based in UK

published

Joined because of my age, and wanting a partner about the same age. I love to dance. Regularly got "interest" from women who were seriously over-weight, far too old or lived many miles away. My biggest gripe was that the company - Venntro Media Group - is run from London, (no Australian contacts at all), and they read and censor everything you write. I was not allowed to say that I wanted only to meet women who lived in Northern Brisbane.
Finally they will not let you know who is a "paid up" member, (that you can make contact with), and who is not "paid up" - so joining is a 'contact' gamble. There are at least 4 older dating sites controlled by Venntro.

WOULDN'T LET ME CHANGE MY OWN PROFILE AS I WANTED TO.

published

VERY UNHAPPPY with TheSeniorDatingAgency. I was not able to change things I had previously written, without their approval. It was my first time on one of these sites, so I was just very honest. STUPID. Upon review of what I had written, I wanted to change some things. My resubmitted answers were not accepted. What's that about? Never, at any stage, were my answers offensive. Luckily I had not paid them anything. Good luck to anyone looking for love on this site. I think you will need it. :)

Scam dating site - don't go there!!!!

published

Olderdatingonline initiate mass introductions and initiate false "want to meet you messages". These messages come from either "inactive members" or from fictitious people probably conjured up by the website. Waste of money and time. I have sent two messages to potential dates and never received a response. It is false, a scam scum website and not recommended.

Very angry to discover they were billing me monthly after I only signed up for a one month contract! the few men I actually got to dating stage were not worth the time. Looks like there are lots of guys but I wonder how many are legitimate members.

Fake members

published

I thought being an older person a site that would attract older compatible men would be ideal. They ask that you join 'free' then one message later you are hit with a bill for some ridiculous amount of money! So the upshot is many profiles and pictures of non paying members, looks good but you might be the only sucker who has paid! Most dating sites operate that way these days. Buyer beware..

Generic mass introductions

published

I joined Older Dating Agency & found it to be a farce. You only seem to receive mass introductions instead of messages from people who have actually reviewed your profile, people I've shown interest in suddenly become 'inactive members'. It's absolute crap so don't waste your time using this site.

No one is a fool for seeking what is a basic human need and that is companionship and we would like to think that those companies who provide such services are above reproach and no doubt there might be some that do while others simply follow those age old vices of this world of exploitation and greed to make a quick dollar over the vulnerable.

However, the other issue is that even if a company tries to be diligent in protecting legitimate users there will always be schools of sharks and chameleons circling out there in the digital world ready to pounce - the internet shines a very intense light on the fact that the world if full of unethical, unprincipled scumbags represented in equal measure by both sexes.

Laws can be circumvented and the fluidity of the internet any penalties that are imposed are temporary a company (it can be just one person) can set up the same operations overnight virtually, under another name and no one will be the wiser.

Given that companies that offer these services are not local to the country of their operations they would be difficult to prosecute given the permeable nature of doing business on the internet. A court could if the server is with that country's jurisdiction order it to be shut down but as soon as that is actioned all these scammers have to do is move countries.

The weight of evidence that would need to be collected and proven beyond reasonable doubt in a court to show that a company was committing fraud or scamming would be enormous as well as showing where the breaches in law have occurred.

In terms of cost of prosecution that too would run into many thousands of dollars a very long case that in the end may not bring about the desired result.

In this day and age the old maxim "Caveat Emptor" applies as does the statement about using the internet if it is too good to be true it is likely to be fake just leave and minimize one's losses as much as possible.

I can only agree with what Mr Smith has written above. But if only our government services could provide a free opportunity for safe meeting for folks that are so lonely and who refuse to join these commercial groups... or have been damaged by joining with them and paying for their dubious services. This would help with the health of the nation--we need a minister in charge of dealing with loneliness.....lots of chronic illness could be headed off as emotional issues affect physical health... of course... as is well known...Brenn
