Problems with no service cut out
We purchased the OLEDGZ1000 on March 18th 2020. All well for the first month and then out of the blue one night the screen went blank and the no service signal came up. We brought our old Sony Bravia down and plugged it in - no problem, it was not the aerial or local signal going down. Rang the store where we bought the TV and were talked through a reset of the picture. It worked. However, a week later it happened again. Did the reset and fine but we were not happy about it and contacted the store who agreed we should have the TV replaced. They...Read more
emailed Panasonic about it but had not received any response after a week. Last night the issue occurred again so we rang the store who then rang the State Manager for Panasonic in Perth who said yes, they had stock available and yes a replacement was possible but it would take 2 weeks to go through the process of getting a replacement. They would not agree to release one of the TVs they have access to, to the store we bought the TV from and allow the store to replace our TV in a quicker time frame. We are now considering a refund from the store and replacing the Panasonic with a Sony A8G. Our old Sony Bravia was a fantastic TV. We bought the Panasonic as it seemed as good and $1000 cheaper. Not sure we want to take a risk on another one and have to wait 2 weeks (and likely longer). Why can't Panasonic just replace it immediately? It is a faulty TV, we've paid our money and now face waiting weeks to enjoy the investment we made. Not happy with Panasonic at all.Purchased in March 2021 for A$2,900.00.

An example of excellence
The screen is big, the image is sharp, the engine is fast. No. not like in a motor vehicle, a television has an "engine" a computer which powers the system, and in this television it is very quick to react to commands. Go to a shop and try the programme guide for example. Some TVs race through and others take ages to scroll from one line to the next, that's the engine at work. Sadly it is the excellence of Panasonic which has led to them leaving Australia because people here are happy to accept cheap instead of quality. If you can still find a Panasonic TV in Australia.....GRAB IT.

Some still available.
Anybody still looking for the Panasonic Gz1000 65'' Oled and finding that most stores are now all sold out. I've just seen them still available in store at Costco in Perth for $2895 but if you check online, they don't appear to have them listed for some strange reason even though they are definitely still available in store. I would assume that other Costco stores also have them available but give them a call just to be sure.

Get one. Do it. Now!
I've had a 65" GZ1000U for 2 weeks now which was an upgrade from the Panasonic Plasma VT65. It took a little bit to get used to first with the picture after my eyes were trained from the plasma but the crispness and depth that you get from the OLED are amazing. The upscaling from standard HDTV is great!
I wanted to watch Avengers End Game as the first movie and once I tuned the settings the way I wanted them it was incredible! Pure blacks and vibrant colours with Dolby Vision activated through Apple4K TV and the Disney+ app.

sometimes the screen will flicker on and off when I seem to stream something playback from Foxtel or from Netflix but from what I have read that is a known issue that future updates will fix. Overall I am very happy with the purchase! So good... staggering picture quality
Having owned a faultless Panasonic VT20 for 10 years, i didn't need to upgrade but decided to after hearing Panasonic was leaving the Australian market.
If you appreciate calibrated vision, Panasonic has created another benchmark in picture standards. Mated with a 4k Apple TV supporting native Dolby Vision, little to no calibration is required.
For those in the market for a new panel and who appreciate/understand white balance and calibration, you have to look at this panel.

I did not expect a TV image could be so richly engaging. Astounding!
What an amazing TV. The depth of colour, and how natural the images look is so impressive. One example, I started watching Carnival Row on Prime. Lighting is used to such wonderful effect in this show. The GZ1000 allows you to, say, experience the intensity of a candle in a dark room and yet still see into the darkness in a very natural way. So beautiful. On a regular LED you simply would not achieve that sense of lighting depth. You would probably turn up the brightness to see into the dark. The image would be flat and the candle would of have no intensity or presence. It is simply top notch. Well done and thank you Panasonic.

i was nervous
I was dead set on getting a LG C9. after watching Utube reviews for months.
but as i was about to pull the trigger, I decided to check a local supplier that had Panasonic.
They sold me on the Panasonic and I have been very pleased with my decision. Beautiful picture. easy set up.
i use a Sonos system so don't really have an opinion on sound quality.
my only complaint would be the limited apps.
i hope there is an update coming for that.

This is how its Done !
I purchased a TH-65FZ950U in the 2022 Black Friday sales. For me, it was a big deal to splash out on such a luxurious item. But hey, you only live once right. For 13 months i enjoyed this luxury, The picture quality and features were incredible. Unfortunately the TV developed a Panel fault, 1 month out of warranty. I thought i was screwed. I called Panasonic. The customer service was incredible! They offered to replace the TV for me. I couldn't believe it. The process was very simple and i got an upgrade in the process. I am now enjoying the TH-GZ1000U. I have not stopped telling everyone about my experience. Well done Panasonic. I applaud you and I will continue to support you.

Outstanding picture quality
Debated for a long while whether to buy another Samsung Qled (own a qled lcd) because of a little nervousness about burn in or "image retention" on Oled panels - the q led is very good but being a VA lcd panel it falls short on viewing angle and whilst the colour gamut is excellent on the q led, the accuracy and contrast on this oled tv is near perfect and another level altogether, plus you can view from a wide angle with very little picture degradation. The Tv out of the box is very easy to set up and the set up menus are easy to follow..The m...Read more
enus and set up process is simple and "familiar" and there are endless options to fine tune the panel. There are multiple preset picture options for all types of viewing needs. The remote control is premium quality, is solid and heavy and even has a button to turn on back lighting if you need it..i havent played a lot of hdr content but playing Stan is very, very good, normal tv is outstanding...have played some bluray music discs and the presentation and picture quality is simply outstanding..the upscaling to 4k is seamless and stunning..its almost 3d like depth and the contrast, deep blacks, excellent colour accuracy and the crystal clear clarity has to be seen to be believed..can not fault the picture quality at all...the sound output is good and adequate without being sensational..the stand is very solid and provides a cover for the cables, as does the back section where the cables connect to make it all tidy and minimalistic. In considering to buy oled or not I have read a lot of threads about image retention (and not being covered by warranty) and the set has a pixel refresh process when you turn it off, plus seems to cut the brightness if the set determines a still image or logo etc is left in static position for too long (there is also a logo luminance adjustment control which you set to max to help take care of bright station logos)..watching stan and netflix can give you picture with letterbox bars which some critics say could be a possible problem with image retention (hasnt been any reports i could find with panasonic models, but issues with other brands). The commercial TV channels in particular, but fox footy as well, have infernal channel logos in bright red which is the worst colour for image retention..we get it,we know we are watching it "live and free" with a big red 7 on channel 7 ( and all the other commercial channels to varying degree). At least the abc mostly has white low intensity logos and screen logos. We really dont need these logos at all - the tv should be able to handle all these situations though and if you dont pause still images for long periods it should be fine, and it seems crazy that you have to watch for all these things which could detract from the simply outstanding picture quality...I will update my review if at any time there are issues with image retention but for now running the brightness at mid level and not too high whilst running in..thats also the other good thing about this model oled - the brightness levels are very good for an oled (look up the comparisons to the sony and Lg even though they are all lg panels the Gz1000 is the brighter tv of the pack)..the new gz2000 looks to be the benchmark but very happy with this tv which is essentially the same panel and hcx processor as the new model!!! The GZ1000 series is currently in model run out mode so bargains to be had. Footnote: If stocks are available you might just pick up a bargain..Panasonic have just announced a pull out of the Australian TV market..this is a pity, they pulled out for a while after making the last plasma tv's which were excellent..this oled is very good quality as is their new series of Lcd tv's..hopefully the products go the distance and back up support is maintained. Panasonic have promised to continue support but no doubt this will not be forever..I know the Chinese manufacturers have saturated the market with lower cost feature rich tv's but i cant help thinking Panasonic had great quality products but sold themselves short..their oled TV is arguably the best on the market.Purchased in December 2021 at The Good Guys for A$1,790.00.

Stunning Picture
We purchased the TH-65GZ1000U about three weeks ago and wall mounted it. The set has a stunning picture out of the box; especially with 4K sources. The upscaling of HD is good and SD is as good as it could be considering the source material. We upgraded from a ten year old 50" Panasonic plasma and are amazed at how much better this TV looks. The plasma set still works perfectly.

ore robust offering of apps would be appreciated. We use a 4K Apple TV for most of our viewing and with Dolby Vision it looks amazing on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Kayo, etc. and our app choices are nearly unlimited. The remote is attractive, sturdy, and functional. I prefer it to the point and click of the LG, but others may not. Certainly the LG has more apps available, but since we use the Apple TV this doesn't matter to us. We use a Onkyo receiver for sound, so haven't listened much through the TV speakers. As our receiver is a bit old the Apple TV is attached via HDMI to the TV directly and sound comes via the audio return channel. It works well and allows us to keep the old receiver for awhile. The only problem is the the TV seems to always default to TV speakers requiring us to select Home Cinema each time we turn on the Apple TV. I am not sure if there is a fix or this or not. We have the TV directly connected to ethernet, but have tried WiFi and it seems OK. There are more than enough ports for us. My only concerns have been screen burn in and longevity, but we don't expect these to be problems. Only time with tell. At this point we are thrilled with the looks, performance, and functions of the Panasonic TH-65GZ1000U. If we could have waited and stretched our budge to the GZ2000U I'm sure it is even better (brighter), but at this time we are happy with this excellent TV.Purchased in November 2021 at The Good Guys for A$3,400.00.

Absolutely love it, with a caveat
I agonized with my decision over which OLED to buy. I have a pretty good sound system, so chose the Panasonic as I fell in love with the picture and wasn't worried about the TV sound, even though it is OK. I really believe the Panasonic is great value for money. The picture quality is fantastic. The viewing angles are great as well. There is one hiccup though. When switching from TV to Netflix, I don't get sound to my receiver. Apparently an ongoing issue on the TV. I have to manually switch my receiver on and off, then I get it. Bit annoying, but apparently Panasonic are onto it and hopefully we'll have an update to fix the problem.

Very accurate picture for all content
Had the 65GZ1000U for over a month now. My first 4K & OLED TV (coming from a Panasonic Viera Plasma).
I’ve watched UHD BD’s, HD BD’s, PS4 games, HDTV, Netflix 4K, Foxtel HD/4K & YouTube.
The above content consisted of films, games, TV shows, sports & 4K demos.
All HD content were up-scaled impressively, but 4K sources were stunning - sports had no motion issues whatsoever, nor did 25fps films. Gaming is also magnificent - Horizon Zero Dawn is gorgeous & smooth.
“THX Cinema” is a set & forget picture mode which provides the most accurate visuals for anything thrown at this TV, whether in a dark or naturally lit room - reflections are also handled nicely.

Hands down the best TV I have owned!
I did a lot (likely too much) research before deciding to purchase this TV. My requirements were that it had to be a 4K OLED screen with HDR10+ (and) Dolby Vision support. I do not purchase new TV's often, so I wanted a unit that supported (both) of the 4K HDR formats. The design and functionality of the TV is awesome, the 4K HDR picture quality is just simply amazing (BUT) the biggest and best feature is truly the up scaling of HD content!! HD (Blu-ray and Netflix) look BEYOND amazing on this TV. Absolutely hands down the best TV I have owned to date!

I can't get my new GZ1000u out of shop mode and I am unable to get TV channels- saying no signal (yes I have checked aerial).

We just returned our one month old GZ1000 for a refund because it cut out three times in three weeks showing the no signal/no service message. We were able to reset it each time using picture reset and turning off the power but it just kept going blank every now and then so we thought it was likely a faulty TV and didn't want to risk a replacement. Now have a Sony OLED, a bit more expensive but no prepared to give Panasonic another chance.

Did anyone manage to use Google Home to control the power on and off as well as volume? I have followed the instructions from setting up the account to all the way entering the Panasonic code but still no luck. Appreciate if anyone who can assist me?

Hello...it was a bit of mucking around but when i first got my tv i went through the smart tv speaker settings and was able to turn the tv on and off with google assistant...it controlled volume as well. I noticed with the function enabled that the led standby light was always orange after i turned the tv off (put into standby) so i was concerned that panel maintenance was on all the time..i contacted panasonic who assured me that even though the orange light was on only normal panel maintence was completed and it wouldnt wear out the panel..once you have the tv smart speaker operating you still have to "find it" in google assist...its a bit messy but eventually it works. I left it turned off in the end.
Hello, not suggesting you didnt get it right but i think the steps are: turn on the smart speaker setting on the tv and get the id codes for the tv, then go to google home, select "settings" then select "more settings", then in the middle of the screen select "assistant", scroll down to the bottom and select "add device", you will get a long list of devices, scroll through to "panasonic tv" and add the device and input the tv id numbers and "connect" and it should be connected and functional....thats the best i can remember about how to get it to work....if you are trying to connect with an iphone or apple tablet i would have no clear idea but i presume google home works much the same on ios as it does on android? Have fun......

Hi, I have noticed in the last week or so that the colours on programmes I'm watching do not apprear clear or vivid. In particular blacks seem to be in shades of grey. I have noticed it a lot on in night scenes. I find frustrating to watch. Can you explain in simple terms why this happens in this type of tv and can it be rectified?
1 answer
Panasonic Australia C.Panasonic
Hi Isabella, sorry this isn't a simple answer, this could be due to the broadcast you are watching and many other factors. The best way to test this would be to play a BluRay disc. If it still persists on this, we would recommend a reset to factory settings. if that still persist, please contact our customer service team on 132600 for further assistance.
