I was using my Panasonic convection oven (which is over 20 years old) on roast pork function. I had food in a double Alfoil tray and a metal temp probe in pork. It was almost finished (after 1 hour) when it made a strange noise so I stopped it. After an hour or so I attempted to reheat Vegas on microwave setting, the machine made same noise and died. Is it worth repairing?

We have owned the NN-CD997S microwave for 6 years and it has been a great tool in the kitchen

Recently we have been unable to use it as when you set the timer and press start it only runs for 2 seconds and shuts down ? No matter if we use the microwave function, defrost the same thing happens.

How long have you had it? My daughters mad the same noise as if something was loose. She called Panasonic and was told to take it to her nearest agent, they gave her two addresses to choose from. She did and within 2 weeks they delivered a brand new microwave.

We purchased a NN-CD997S a couple of months ago and when microwave is on and the turn table is turning there is a vibration noise.
Could anyone let me know what could be the cause.

This has happened to me a few times too. The turntable base isn't clicked into its place. Just lift it and slowly slide it around until it drops neatly onto the right spot.

Sometimes its due to being to close to a wall or the back. Mine did it because the left side of the back was touching the power point. Sometimes its due not being balanced properly.

Hi There,
When i set my Panasonic NN-CD997 to heat for a minute or so, it runs for 1 or 2 secs then stops with the message 'COOL'. When it 1st happened I played with the temp setting & it worked, but now it has stopped again. In the last few years, I have had a new cooling fan & a magnatron replaced. Is there a temp sensor which could be faulty.

I have moved into a home with one of these convention microwaves. It doesn’t heat (convention oven). They have bought us a new one, but way too small. Is there anything I could try before it is taken to the dump?

Hi tilly
Firstly, it appears that you don't have a user manual. These ovens are very expensive and they are repairable, but just try this first. On the right hand side you will note there are little buttons, working your way down there is a button and below it reads convection. After you press this button a prompt comes up on your screen to set the temperature, you can do this by turning the illuminated dial menu/temp clockwise and rotate till you reach the desired temperature. Press start and the oven will preheat to the set temp. Once the temperature has been reached the oven will let you know when to place the food in and set the time for cooking. hope this helps.
good luck

Hi Tilly, Wambat is right. You should be able to get the user manual and recipe book online, just type in Panasonic NN-CD997S manual and then Panasonic NN-CD997S recipes. You need the manual until you become familiar with it. I found Panasonic help line really helpful.

Press timer/click button 3-5 times that should leave the display blank, should then be able to use normally. Get the info from Panasonic website/microwave convection/support/FAQ.

My Panasonic Dimension 4 The Genius NNCD997S switches to 'Cool' after a few seconds when I start the microwave function. It happened before and then come good, but it has started doing it again and I don't know what to do to fix it. Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Using both hands give the sides of the microwave a short simultaneous smack. This fixes my one for a while.
Sometimes it comes good for a few days and then fault reappears.
Smacking the sides is a cheap fix.
Fault is only on microwave, not on convection.

UNC48
UNC48

Upon further investigation it is a door sensor issue. When the door is shut, I can hear the door closing microswitch click each time I press the bottom right hand corner of the door.
To fix, I opened the door slightly and holding the top RH and bottom RH of the door firmly, gently twist the bottom right hand corner of the door slightly inwards.
The door microswitch now senses the closed door correctly. I do not hear a click anymore when I press the bottom RH corner of the closed door.
My microwave is now fixed.

I have a brand new one of these and I tried to use the "turbo defrost" feature. I purchased a weight scale to determine the weight of the food to be defrosted before I selected the turbo defrost feature for some frozen chicken. It was .4 KG so I set it up and the oven calculated five minuted to do the defrost. At the end of the cycle the chicken was still almost completely frozen! What did I do wrong?

400 grms takes 9 minutes and 4 sec. on Turbo Defrost . Always do 100grms less if you dont want cooked bits after thawing.
ie. 300 grms to do 400grms. This does depend on how much water has been added, whole chook probably will need the full amount.

Dont know why your turbo frost is under counting by such a large margin.

I just bought a Panasonic NNCD997S 42L oven. I notice that when I turn on the convection oven to bake the food, it is very dim to see through the food in the oven through the glass door, though there is one light bulb turning on while baking. I used to use Sharp convection oven which can see the food very clearly while baking with the door closed. Is this normal for NNCD997S oven? What is the reason to have it so dim to see through the glass door while turning on the oven?

1 answer
Sherry51

Yes Joyce, it is very dim and I think this is because the glass is not actually clear. The only way around it is to open the door and have a look. Sorry couldn't have been more helpful. Keep on cooking
