Does make rice fuzzy so
This rice cooker is amazing so! I used this to cook porridge and it turned out to be that I don't even need any other dishes to accompany the porridge. Can make rice so sweet and sticky! That's amazing that I want to purchase two more to bring back to China.

Awful :(
I have never written a review before but felt inclined this time. For $89 I expected half decent rice. Instead I got litres of mush and a large area of burnt rice stuck to the bottom. It tasted awful and was deemed inedible.
Really disappointed - Panasonic is permanently tarnished in my mind.

WORSE rice cooker I've ever used
honestly, is the worse rice cooker I have ever use & purchased.
when the rice is cook, the steam water drip down from the lid to the rice cooker, have to wipe it every single time you open the lid.
Plus the size is quite deep, so is took up space.
Is worse then the $10.00 unknown brand.

Excellent Quality Machine
Having bought and owned two $30 Aldi and Big W brands, I was disappointed with poor cooked rice quality, sticking rice residue and rapid deterioration in keep warm mode. I bought the Panasonic 5 cup model (made in China). I am impressed with the quality of cooked rice and the keep warm life cycle.
I am delighted with the simple 4 button operation. This is a top end Japan designed high price rice cooker with an operating manual that is an embarrassment to Panasonic Japan. Four Chinese recipes included, which looks like an after thought. Match the operating manual with the product price otherwise Panasonic's image will erode.

Disappointed Purchase
I had high expectations of the rice cooker after reading previous reviews. However, there are quite a few issues with the rice cooker...
1. It gets extremely messy, especially when I cook brown rice. Sticky liquid comes out of the vent on the top and drips everywhere.
2. It is hard to clean up the mess (sides and top lid).
3. Long cooking time - took over an hour to cook only 1 cup of brown rice.
4. Burnt rice at the bottom of the cooker. Regardless how much extra water I put in the cooker (I tried to follow the marking of the cooker, ...Read more

Rice is Still Glugy, would have hoped for better...
I had purchased a $30 rice cooker and was not happy with the way the rice turned out glugy and stuck together..I read the reviews about this cooker and spent 3 times as much expecting a better outcome. But really just the same as the cheap rice cooker, the rice is glugy, stuck together etc. I followed the instructions as per the booklet, washed the rice, measured the rice and filled to the correct water level etc etc..
Not really impressed..

Great little appliance!
I bought this after seeing positive reviews on here and have found it to be a great addition to my small kitchen. It not only cooks perfect rice at the touch of a button and is so easy to use, but it also steams vegies etc in the steam basket provided. It can also can cook soup and porridge and probably even stews too. It's compact size and neat appearance makes it perfect for small kitchens like mine. It's very simple to use and a breeze to clean up afterwards. I'm keen to try using it as a slow cooker which I think is entirely possible. Highly recommended and Japanese reliability too. :)

So Easy!
We have had this rice cooker now for a few months and it makes the most perfect rice and the best thing is that there is no mess after cooking. There is no overflow from anywhere of water or rice gludge. This cooker has been used regularly since we have had it and is the best one I have ever had! The rice ALWAYS turns out perfect if you follow the instructions with the right amount of water and rice. It is easy to clean which is a bonus.
Perfect rice and no messy clean ups.
Takes a bit longer than usual but I don't mind as there are so many pluses to this machine

Where to buy a spare bowl in Australia
4 answers
I dont think you can buy a spare bowl? To make sure phone Panasonic spares and ask.
Try this link to order it from their American warehouse (make sure it is for the right model):
https://panasonic.encompass.com/model/MSCSRDF181
You can also get it in Australia from this link but it will be cheaper to buy a new rice cooker:

How much water do you have to put for 2 cups of Brown rice?
1 answer
Standard recipe for cooking brown rice is 1 cup or rice to 2 1/2 cups of water. There's a water line to follow as well inside the cooking bowl if you wish to follow that as its pretty accurate as well.

I just bought the SR DF101 and I must say that I absolutely DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MANUAL. I mean I cannot figure out How many cups of rice with how many cups of water I need to put. There are no clear words of what's is cups of rice and what are cups of water in the table of measurements provided on the manual. Can anyone help?

I returned mine for a refund it was quicker to cook rice on the stove as I have done for years

Hi Krem, the table on page 5 shows the following for white rice - 1 cup of rice requires 1 1/2 cups of water. 2 cups of rice requires 2 3/4 cups of water, 3 cups of rice requires 4 cups of water. We hope this helps. If you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team on 132600.
There's marking inside the cooking bowl to follow. It's hard to see on low light but always works like a charm. As long as you use the same cup provided should have no issues.

actually saving water but come out with juicy and sweet rice is the most advantage for this rice cooker! Just need half volume of the water to cook rice with this rice cooker.
