So far, so very good...
First up, the Philips XXL is my first air fryer, but I did spend a considerable amount of time researching the benefits generally of air frying and the pros and cons of various models. A month in and I have no regrets with this product.
What the XXL offers is one of the largest basket sizes available, a very powerful heating element and a range of digitally programmed cooking options. (Oops, I'm starting to sound like a salesman!!) Point is, these feature make it easy to use. The manual is basic, but gives you a very good starting point.

I have taken to making home made chips and our grandchildren claim that they are better than any take away. All with a spoonful of healthy oil. Store bought frozen chips work well. I have also cooked store bought frozen fish and chicken, (crumbed and tempura). It is a wake up call to see the oil that comes out of tempura batter! At least it ends up at the bottom of the cooker and not in our stomachs. A small recipe book is provided and an online recipe app is available. I have found that some of the recipes are not accurate in their quantities and times, so personal experimentation is under way. With the cost of electricity, this air fryer helps by cooking a meal in perhaps less time than it would take to preheat an oven or an unhealthy deep fryer.3 comments

FANTABULOUS & So quick and easy
Husband has been harping to buy one of these for quite a while but for just two people it was me that thought the price was a little extreme. A little win helped us decide to buy one and we have not looked back. Yes I was wrong because this fryer is now my prized appliance sitting on our kitchen bench top.
This Air Fryer cooks grilled fish perfectly and I then added some frozen chips around the outside after the fish had cooked for so long at its temperature and everything worked out well. We had cooked dinner in as little as 11 minutes....Read more
Frozen foods are fantabulous in cooking up on their own. 15 minutes and I do two times of giving them a little shake around and they come out perfect. Husband is having fun at lunch time doing his frozen Spring Rolls, dim sims and they are ready under 10 minutes. Usually he would use the oven which would take 15 minutes to heat to the temperature and then another 25 minutes cooking. I've also cooked some steak, chicken, hamburgers and even just roasted up some vegetables and they all come up nicely. It's great as there is no heavy oil to cook these items, they are cooking away with less fat.1 comment

Great tool for frying and roasting
Excellent alternative to frying. I love fried chicken but to deep fry them in oil is messy and unhealthy so this Philips airfryer has been making my work a lot easier. The whole chicken is cooked beautifully and even too. We use this machine on a regular basis for main meals and snack such as nuggets, chips, fish and spring rolls. The only thing I notice is the tray and pan seems a bit difficult to clean so I just place them in the dishwasher to make it more convenient.

Fast & Efficient
My wife just loves this machine & say it is the best appliances she has in the kitchen & she has heaps.
Cooks everything from sausages, roast pork, chips, bacon, steak, chicken, hamburgers, veggies & heated frozen food. All taste fantastic, not dry & full of flavour yet easy to clean, only negative is the size of servings.

Best chips ever
Easy to use, good size for a family of 4 and we haven't had to use any oil at all! Much healthier than deep frying but the food comes out super crunchy! We've made chips, wedges, cupcakes and biscuits in it. The basket is easy to clean, but some oil burnt onto the sides are hard to remove as it has a non stick coating hence we can't use abrasives cleaner. Overall very pleased with this product!

Best Mother’s Day gift ever
I bought this from Myer as a mother’s day gift and wish I’d bought years ago!its great for chips as we all know, as long as not too many in basket and you shake halfway through.mum no longer needs to bend several times to oven and does everything from cakes, meatloaf and frozen finger foods to bread rolls.its compatible with silicon and ceramic bakeware it’s only got two things to wash up/wipe clean, which are easy as,nothing fiddly or difficult, great product!highly recommend it :)

A Useful Kitchen Appliance. Love it!
The Phillips Air Fryer was suggested to me as a 'must have ' kitchen appliance by a friend who had the small size. Over the years I have collected a graveyard of bulky annoying appliances used rarely.
Decided to take hubby to have a look at the fryer, after reading a lot of positive reviews on this site, verifying our friend's recommendation. We took the plunge and bought an Air Fryer . We felt even though just 2 of us, we would want larger size to cook snacks when visitors drop by.
So we've been trialling it and using it several times a...Read more

Great for fast baking of meals
Purchased this to simplify some things we bake like french fries, meatballs or whole chickens.
So far very impressed with how will it does cook items, perfect amount of heat and airflow to cook quickly without drying out the food. Also, faster than oven as it's smaller so just does what it needs to, but of course won't do a cake.
Internally it has teflon coating so at the end of cooking its either wipe out with a paper towel or a quick clean in the sink.
Controls are good for type of cooking and also temp and time to set and forget.
This is the largest one so it ain't small, but still fits into our kitchen cupboard fine when not in use.

No power after used twice, very poor customer service
Not very happy with their products and quality. I have used twice and now no power called up customer service 3 times they want me to take repair. Which is not acceptable for basically 2 week old machine. I will not buy any Philips products again as I don't want to waste my time and money. I never have to send back for replacement and make numerous phone call or drop it back to service centre and etc. This is my first try with Philips and will be my last.
Very bad customer service as they don't take any pride on it anyways.

Not technically a fryer but a compact fan forced oven.
Pros:
Can cook store brought deep fry products such as chips, waffle fries, chicken nuggets but it won't be consistent unless you shuffle the food a bit.
Can bake products such as breads and cakes.
Good for people who have small homes that needs a oven.
Cons:
Can't technically "fry" but can bake.
Can't fry battered foods such as battered fish.
Cooks inconsistently compared to actual deep fryers that use oil.
Very pricey for it's function.

careless manner. Not reading the manuals and recipies dos and don'ts will end in disaster. With cooking it is better to under do it than over do it. Under cooked can have more cooking time but over cooked, too bad. Still my cooker drips fat out onto my bench from the back and in the tray cavity. Thinking on this matter if you want to cook raw meat with a high fat content better to BBQ. (lamb, pork, burgers, rissoles, bacon) either chops, lamb shoulder A (small rolled shoulder) the fryer will certainly cook them but cleaning is a whole other thing. The fat or oil I noted will also take off the numbers around the dial as I only clean with dish detergent and warm water. Cooking raw fish it is good. Raw prawns with or without a marinade great. I would never say don't get one as it certainly works for me. Shop bought prepared party foods is fine. I prefer more unprocessed foods. Roast veggies light spray of oil delicious. Healthy and easy fryer in the market
Bought this Philips in Harvey norman while on mothers day promotion, very easy to use and now i am using this fryer every day, No oil required, but it can cook the prefect crispy pork skin. with the "turbo" technology, it can suck more fat oil out from the meat but wouldnt dry the meat so its still taste tender and delicious.
The reason i dont give it a 5 star is because the trey in the fryer is very hard clean and while its cooking, there is often a lot of white smoke come from the fryer.
Overall its worth to buy it..it makes the cooking much easier and heather.
