Annoying!!!
I loved my mums philips iron but can no longer get that model.so I decided to spend more and it was for no reason. It does not steam in the vertical position. And when using the steam boost it leaks water! When I read up on it it says you can press the boost to quickly in a row but it still leaked. I went and spent $50 half the amount on Russell Hobbs steamglide ultra from big w and it is amazing!

Would never buy this again
Bought in haste. Store only had this ridiculously pointy shaped sole plate, so hard to get used to. Iron performs well. BUT where is temp control mark - been using guesswork; filling level doesn't work - big heavy bulky - thankfully I don't iron a lot or would probably end up with RSI from lifting awkward thing

The most awkward iron I've ever used
I would have to agree with other reviewers regarding the sole plate.. after 1 year mine is covered in scorch / burn marks. The major trouble with this iron, I find is the design. Having small hands I need to grip the handle firmly to lift it. The steam trigger goes off EVERY TIME... who the hell thought of putting it there!! To avoid this I try to grip differently ... then I hit the temperature control dial and change the settings. Most frustrating iron ever... this is my third Phillips iron the past ones were great BUT this would have to be the worst I've ever used.

Rubbish
Purchased at JB HI-FI Ballarat. 10/8/2017
Phillips Azur Performer Plus, floor stock last one no box $89.
Had a Phillips Azure for a few years, worked well.
Need to iron 5 white shirts plus, per week. Have done so for over 30 years. I know how to use an iron. Work in finance.
This new iron has no steam, drips water everywhere, almost pours out of sole plate.
Used for 5mins and realised it was absolute rubbish.
Where are they made now ?
Seeking complete refund tomorrow
This product shouldn't be in stores in 2017. Rubbish as per previous reviews.
Phillips you've lost me, and lost your Brand reputation.

The worst iron I have ever had
I have struggled with this iron for several months ( had a break of several months when I did no sewing). At its best it is terrific BUT the thermostat is totally unreliable. I use it almost exclusively as a sewing aid - pressing seams, machine embroidery etc - and it steams well and irons well for a bit, and then suddenly, and increasingly frequently, it just grabs and melts the fabric without warning. I have had more fabric melts in less than 6 months of use with this iron than in the past 20 years of iron use. It also randomly scorches fabr...Read more
ic if used without steam. This was not a particularly cheap iron, but I am sick to death of cleaning bits of my precious fabric from the soleplate. I contacted Philips through their website and received a confirmation that they were investigating the problem and would contact me "shortly". That was over a month ago. I just want my money back for the purchase, plus a bit extra for the numerous fabrics destroyed by this iron.1 comment

Absolutely Terrible!
I purchased a new Phillips Azure Performance Plus only yesterday from Big W, i used it for the first time today. After using it for 10 minutes I diced to dig through the bin for the recept because I knew it was total rubbish. 1- It does not heat properly. 2- it does not make enough steam or a steady ammount of steam. 3- it constantly drips water and leaves streaks accross your clothes, not just a drop of water... It leaks a lot. 4- the controls are confusing, the arrow to your selected heat level is under the handle so you can't see it, how stu...Read more

Does not heat up enough.
I have had the temperature on maximum for everything I've ironed but it is not hot enough. Everything has creases and won't iron properly. I have tried varying the dial but this does nothing and make things even more creased. It needs to be hotter.
I bought it last week at Myer after my really good Tefal stopped working after some years. For this Philips I paid $127.20, discounted down from $159, as I wanted a really good iron like the Tefal was and the sales assistant said it was the top model. But, it doesn't work well enough.

Problems with Azur Performer Plus Soleplate
Just purchased my 3rd Philips Azur Iron a couple of months ago although this is the 1st Performer Plus. I have also bought at least 2 other Philips Azur Irons for my adult children. Very disappointed with the "best gliding soleplate". It's fine with cottons/linens, but it scorches/stains & grabs/melts my black pants (65% cotton 31% nylon 4% elastine). In the past I've always had the temperature gauge set on the lower end of the cotton setting for most fabrics and never had problems with the soleplate sticking.
However this iron is a nigh...Read more

Such disappointment...
I have only had this iron 30 minutes...and already been on the phone to the store I bought it from...its leaking terribly. clothes are getting quite wet..making gurgling sounds. I'm doing everything by the book..even had hubby make sure all settings are correct... I have been ironing 50 plus years, so I know my way around an iron!..its going straight back to the store. I won't be purchasing this brand again... I had such high hopes and at $169 dollars... I'm quite shocked.

Disappointed With This Product
This is our 2nd Philips iron, & after being very pleased with the 1st one, we decided to buy another Philips iron. The Azur Performer Plus (Model GC4514) is nowhere near as good as my 1st iron. It's heavy, difficult to manoeuvre, & most importantly it doesn't take out any creases as the temperature is not hot enough on its highest setting. Purchased this product on special for $79 (Worth $99), but would still expect this iron to perform much better for this price.

Philips GC4522 Clothes Iron - So far so good, will update later in the year.
Bought this after using a similar iron in a hotel which although very well used, did a great job. I looked at the top model which was on special for almost the same price, but it was too heavy so I went with this instead. So far I am really liking it. It is easy to use and just glides over the clothes and the narrow shaping at the front is great for ironing fiddly bits. So far the steam function has worked flawlessly with no drips and dribbles. I am using slightly lower heatsettings than the dial indicates, but then I did that with my last iron...Read more
too. Power cord could be a little longer but at least the iron has a good shape at the bottom so it stays put when its wrapped up for storage unlike some other brands where the cord slides off the bottom when you pick it up. Disappointing
Had to return this iron to The Good Guys after being initially delighted with the purchase. After only 3 months, iron failed to turn on!!! For $100, I would not have expected this to happen. The design is great but clearly the electronics are not :-( Decided to try another company (Tefal) so fingers crossed this iron lasts. Ironing is not my favourite part of housework and this added to my woes.

Philips GC4512 clothes iron
Bought this iron a couple of weeks ago. Saw a few negative comments on similar Philips irons, but I went with Choice Magazine recommendation. It is easy to handle and glides over the fabric quite well. Seems to heat up OK but it does dribble a bit. Checked the instruction manual and it may just be a matter of matching the heat setting with the appropriate steam setting. Calcium catcher is a feature that I haven't seen before. I think that the water tank is a bit small and you have to be mindful to not over fill it otherwise it dribbles. Heat se...Read more
lector is very touchy and it is easy to move the dial during normal operation. Shot of steam function seems to work well. Water spray button is OK but I feel that the nozzle sends the water too far in front of the iron. For left handed people, the filler cap is a bit of a pain to use as it is left side hinged and gets in the way. OK for right handed uses though. Power cord is quite short but nothing that an extension cord can't fix. Have only used it once so far and I'll see what the future will hold..2 comments

3rd iron in 3 years, not made to last!!!!!! NOT HAPPY JAN
The temperature is always fluctuating, water drips out no matter how many times you clean the iron, the main problem I have been having for over 3 years now is after a few months the steam is a lot less and the shot of steam is terrible, many holes underneath but only a few are workable. They are once again replacing my iron BUT I am guessing I will be doing the same thing next year.

Trouble from the Beginning
Purchased this item from ANZ rewards in May 2016. Our original Iron was the same type of iron without the plus, unfortunately was accidentally broken. So thought we would upgrade to the newer model with more features. Well, then the trouble started. Since using from day one, this iron has been scorching the clothes whether they are cotton or not (work uniforms, school uniforms, etc) spray out calcium, over steaming, not turning off. We have even tried lowering the settings to iron the clothes but the same thing is still happening.

Initially Impression, sadly mistaken
The iron was initially fantastic to use, good steam output, quick to heat and good control. However I appear to be having the same problem as many other users, the iron auto off switch won't allow the iron to turn on and heat back up again. I have had the iron for a little over a year, as a single person with little ironing I made the decision to invest in what I though was a quality product that could last and perform at short notice. Incredibly disappointing given the price.

Worst iron I ever purchased
I concur with Claudette. I purchased this iron yesterday and started ironing a load of tablecloths (white linen and cotton) on the recommended settings and every item had scorch marks. I tried a lower setting and still got scorch marks. The temperature control is obviously not accurate. The sole plate was also discharging blobs of water intermittently on all settings. Disaster of an iron
This iron has caused us nothing but problems. It spits water; it often turns itself off and then refuses to heat up again; it scorches like crazy, even on the lowest heat setting; it keeps accumulating dark brown gunk on its sole plate which comes off onto clothes. Absolutely the most useless iron I have ever had the misery to own.

How to clean water tank?
1 answer
Philips S.Philips
Hi Scotty,
Thanks for submitting your question here. :) Do you like you GC4517? To clean the water tank, you can try to:
1) Fill the water tank half way with hot water and shake it carefully.
2) Empty it and rinse well with fresh water (do not use detergent).
This is the only way to clean the inside! Hope it helps.
