    Annoying!!!

    published

I loved my mums philips iron but can no longer get that model.so I decided to spend more and it was for no reason. It does not steam in the vertical position. And when using the steam boost it leaks water! When I read up on it it says you can press the boost to quickly in a row but it still leaked. I went and spent $50 half the amount on Russell Hobbs steamglide ultra from big w and it is amazing!

    Would never buy this again

    published

Bought in haste. Store only had this ridiculously pointy shaped sole plate, so hard to get used to. Iron performs well. BUT where is temp control mark - been using guesswork; filling level doesn't work - big heavy bulky - thankfully I don't iron a lot or would probably end up with RSI from lifting awkward thing

The most awkward iron I've ever used

    published

I would have to agree with other reviewers regarding the sole plate.. after 1 year mine is covered in scorch / burn marks. The major trouble with this iron, I find is the design. Having small hands I need to grip the handle firmly to lift it. The steam trigger goes off EVERY TIME... who the hell thought of putting it there!! To avoid this I try to grip differently ... then I hit the temperature control dial and change the settings. Most frustrating iron ever... this is my third Phillips iron the past ones were great BUT this would have to be the worst I've ever used.

    Rubbish

    published

Purchased at JB HI-FI Ballarat. 10/8/2017
Phillips Azur Performer Plus, floor stock last one no box $89.
Had a Phillips Azure for a few years, worked well.
Need to iron 5 white shirts plus, per week. Have done so for over 30 years. I know how to use an iron. Work in finance.
This new iron has no steam, drips water everywhere, almost pours out of sole plate.
Used for 5mins and realised it was absolute rubbish.
Where are they made now ?
    Seeking complete refund tomorrow
This product shouldn't be in stores in 2017. Rubbish as per previous reviews.
Phillips you've lost me, and lost your Brand reputation.

    Does not heat up enough.

    published

I have had the temperature on maximum for everything I've ironed but it is not hot enough. Everything has creases and won't iron properly. I have tried varying the dial but this does nothing and make things even more creased. It needs to be hotter.

I bought it last week at Myer after my really good Tefal stopped working after some years. For this Philips I paid $127.20, discounted down from $159, as I wanted a really good iron like the Tefal was and the sales assistant said it was the top model. But, it doesn't work well enough.

Hi Philips Official, I went to Myer a couple of days ago and was happy that they let me return the iron and buy another Tefal instead (seeing I know my last one worked well). Kind regards.

    Such disappointment...

    published

I have only had this iron 30 minutes...and already been on the phone to the store I bought it from...its leaking terribly. clothes are getting quite wet..making gurgling sounds. I'm doing everything by the book..even had hubby make sure all settings are correct... I have been ironing 50 plus years, so I know my way around an iron!..its going straight back to the store. I won't be purchasing this brand again... I had such high hopes and at $169 dollars... I'm quite shocked.

    Disappointed With This Product

    published

This is our 2nd Philips iron, & after being very pleased with the 1st one, we decided to buy another Philips iron. The Azur Performer Plus (Model GC4514) is nowhere near as good as my 1st iron. It's heavy, difficult to manoeuvre, & most importantly it doesn't take out any creases as the temperature is not hot enough on its highest setting. Purchased this product on special for $79 (Worth $99), but would still expect this iron to perform much better for this price.

This is our 3rd Philips iron, the first two we're brilliant, this one, a Philips Azur Performer Plus is terrible, hardly takes out creases and that's on its hottest temperature. Frustrating after paying $120 for it, and even worse after convincing my partner paying for a good iron was worth it.

    Disappointing

    published

Had to return this iron to The Good Guys after being initially delighted with the purchase. After only 3 months, iron failed to turn on!!! For $100, I would not have expected this to happen. The design is great but clearly the electronics are not :-( Decided to try another company (Tefal) so fingers crossed this iron lasts. Ironing is not my favourite part of housework and this added to my woes.

Let's hope that there is no need to use the guarantee over the next two years. That would be a good start.

3rd iron in 3 years, not made to last!!!!!! NOT HAPPY JAN

    published

The temperature is always fluctuating, water drips out no matter how many times you clean the iron, the main problem I have been having for over 3 years now is after a few months the steam is a lot less and the shot of steam is terrible, many holes underneath but only a few are workable. They are once again replacing my iron BUT I am guessing I will be doing the same thing next year.

Bought our first expensive iron only to have it repeatedly scorch clothes no matter how low the setting. Has been 6 months of frustration and constant cleaning only now to find SMOKE not steam coming out of it. Has never been dropped or mistreated....and if course we didnt keep the receipt.

    Initially Impression, sadly mistaken

    published

The iron was initially fantastic to use, good steam output, quick to heat and good control. However I appear to be having the same problem as many other users, the iron auto off switch won't allow the iron to turn on and heat back up again. I have had the iron for a little over a year, as a single person with little ironing I made the decision to invest in what I though was a quality product that could last and perform at short notice. Incredibly disappointing given the price.

    Disaster of an iron

    published

This iron has caused us nothing but problems. It spits water; it often turns itself off and then refuses to heat up again; it scorches like crazy, even on the lowest heat setting; it keeps accumulating dark brown gunk on its sole plate which comes off onto clothes. Absolutely the most useless iron I have ever had the misery to own.

I purchased this iron as the display model and was not provided with the packaging - which included operating instructions & care guide, and warranty card.

Are you able to send me a copy of the manual? Electronic or hard copy would be fine.

    How to clean water tank?

    1 answer
    Philips
    Philips S.Philips

    Hi Scotty,

Thanks for submitting your question here. :) Do you like you GC4517? To clean the water tank, you can try to:
    1) Fill the water tank half way with hot water and shake it carefully.
    2) Empty it and rinse well with fresh water (do not use detergent).

This is the only way to clean the inside! Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

I love my Phillips Azur steam iron but today it keeps turning off. It has a light under the steam control lever, the left side says heating and the right automatic. I have moved house & lost my instruction book, could you send me a copy, please. I would really like your help as soon as possible, thank you.
