Don’t waste your time contacting a Princess Holiday Planner or you may miss the cruise you want.
Don’t waste your time contacting a Princess Holiday Planner or you may miss the cruise you want. My wife and myself returned from a Princess Cruise in December. Early January, I received a Welcome Home email from a Princess Travel Planner. Three days later I replied to the Princess Travel Planner seeking information on 2 cruises back to back which occur around our wedding anniversary in nine months time. The prices advertised on the Princess site and the cabin available were good. It is now thirteen days since my email, with no reply and cabin ...Read more
availability disappearing with prices increasing. Two days ago, I contacted Princess Cruises via email, receiving an automated reply saying it may be up to 5 days before they reply; at which time all suitable cabins will most likely have disappeared. I refuse to pay the increased prices because Princess Cruises failed to get back in contact with me within an appropriate time frame. This is the second time that a Princess Travel Planner has failed to reply to a future cruise inquiry. We have only travelled Princess Cruises and have over 80 days sailing with them and have generally been very happy with their service. My advice is if you see a good price on the Princess Website, book it online as you may miss out on your cruise or be forced to pay extra costs, if you wait for a reply from Princess. From previous posts it appears that Princess do not respond well to emails. If I do not receive a reply today I will spend my money elsewhere for our anniversary and seriously consider not sailing with Princess again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

no more golden princess trip
Travelled on Golden princess before but this time was not good. Entertainment for teenagers but most persons were pensioners. We walked out on two shows. Hannah Howie was very good.
Food for gluten free person was not good hardly any choice. Never going again.

Cost cutting taking its toll ...
Wine is still insanely expensive, e.g. $AUD15+ for a glass. It was cheaper to drink cocktails. I don't really mind having to pay $AUD50+ per bottle (Princess has to make money somehow), but if the wine list states that the bottle is a certain vintage, then don't bring me a bottle that is 1-2 years later vintage (e.g. 2016 instead of 2014) than what is claimed. This happened repeatedly. Info in room promised bathrobes and fresh ice every day - neither of these materialised (and no, I shouldn't have to ask, if you tell me in the room info tha...Read more
t it's going to be provided, then provide it). I'm not sure about the "new beds" claim, yes they were nice and squishy, but it looked like the old wire bases to me, and we both sank a little lower than we would have preferred (and neither of us is overweight). The meals in the main dining room and the buffet on Deck 14 were good. But Curtis Stone? Really? It's just a token on the menu that is well past its prime. And Princess doesn't seem to realise that Mr Stone's main image in Australia is flogging a major supermarket chain on TV. And what's happened to the creme brulee? We didn't see it as an option on any of the menus, not even once. The meal in the steakhouse was very good indeed - beautiful piece of meat and cooked perfectly. I tried to book the Chef's Table by dialling the number given on the Princess Patter, to get a recorded message saying they would only answer between 8am and 5pm. So why not say that in the Patter? We had a voucher for the Balcony Breakfast, that said to call the day before, with no indication of what time to call would be suitable. But when I did (in the evening before), the staff person said they needed 24 hours notice. Sure enough, there was another brochure in the room that said they needed 24 hours notice. So why have two different messages? There seemed to be a relatively large number of events that were 'unhosted' - cost cutting again I guess. The main stage shows were good, even though we had seen most of them on previous cruises. Good seating in the main theatre was easy-peasy to find, probably reflecting the age range on board, and the likelihood that many had gone to bed by the time the late performance (9:30pm) came around. Dr Happy was hilarious. Boarding and disembarking was easy and painless.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best holiday
Took a cruise out of Melbourne and around NZ earlier this year (2019), including Fiordland (probably the highlight). Nothing I could complain about. All staff great. Ship wonderful. Locations visited were great. Everything is taken care of for you. Food was wonderful, huge variety, wonderfully presented and all included in the price. You can of course spend extra to go to the high-end restaurants on-board, which we did a couple of times and was worth doing, as they were 5 star and truly special. Would certainly go on another Princess Cruise.

Disappointing
We’ve sailed on the Golden Princess quite a few times and will be sorry to see her go to P&O. We even did a 75 night cruise on her once. However, apart from coming off her this March with the flu (not Princess’s fault), we had a really disappointing experience because of the cruise director - PJ. The story is too long to tell here although I do have a 2 page letter I sent him. The 3rd letter/note in a 2 week cruise. No response. We felt deceived, disappointed and at a loss to understand the arrogance. Hope not to meet him again on future cruises as he really spoilt this one!

WORST CRUISE EVER
We travelled from Melbourne to New Zealand. We've been on about 15 cruises, but this has been the worst by far. The food was mostly cold, most of the staff had an 'I don't care attitude,' the pools were cold, and the spa too hot. Staff would rather say that they had ran out of certain food items, then replenish stock. All in all, we felt as though no one really cared about the passengers. I'll never go on his ship ever again.

We had a great time and love Golden Princess
My partner and I (in our mid sixties) sailed on golden princess from Melbourne to NZ and returned on 25 February 2022. Took our two sons aged in their thirties. The weather in NZ was sunny and mid-twenties on most days, so glad we purchased a balcony stateroom. The ship was able to birth at all ports on the itinerary, using tenders to get ashore for a couple. The food on board including the buffet was really good. Entertainment was terrific, but, if you are seeing a show in the Princess Theatre, I recommend grabbing your seats at least half an ...Read more
hour before the show - no reserving seats for others is permitted, which is fair enough. The service was very friendly. Watch some bar staff as they sometimes default to the dearer spirit options when mixing your drinks unless you specify what you want- e.g. they'll charge for black label JW instead of using standard red label. A round of four drinks cost me $78.00! - but then I learnt to be more specific. We all had a great time, enjoyed NZ and especially love the Golden Princess.Similar opinion? Happy Holidays
We booked with our travel agent.
The trip matched our expectations.
There were no unexpected expenses,we knew the alcohol would be extra and we had pre booked our shore excursions.
We were vert happy with our balcony cabin and the staff very helpful.
We dined in the Bernini Restaurant most nights. The food was first class and our waiters Florenta and Emmanuel so lovely and helpful.
We went to the theatre most nights and the shows were great, especially loved

Major issues with booking
We are travelling to Vancouver from Sydney leaving April 2022 on Golden Princess for a 30 day cruise. We booked via a travel consultant on 09 Jan 2018 paying a deposit of $2143.68.
On the 24th of October 2018 we received an email from our travel consultant which showed this cruise now had a reduction in price. We contacted her and asked if we can take advantage of this, she advised yes, but advised that for some reason the original booking would need to be cancelled, (this has never happened before normally if there is a reduction in price j...Read more
ust phone Princess and job done in about 10 minutes) now having to cancel the booking stated a saga of major issues. On 26th of October we paid an additional amount for deposit on the new booking of $662.53. Same day we received a receipt showing what we have paid so far for this new booking with only $904.30 coming over from the original booking. Our agent said this was because this cruise was a part of the "world cruise segment" and Princess withheld over $1200. Naturally, we disputed this there is nothing on the web site stating this cruise was part of a world cruise segment. Also checked on the princess web site for World cruise segment, this cruise does not come up as part of these cruises. Our agent reconfirmed cancellation fee with her manager and Princess Cruises and sent an email with a link to Cancellation fees as per https://www.princess.com/find/bookingConditions.doc which is what she used. But under then Passage contract https://www.princess.com/legal/passage_contract/pcl.html it showed the following Under Section 61 comment

Excellent staff. Some cabin difficulties
Our booking number was HQ3D6PA . A special thank you to Ernesto and Shaan in Caneletto as they made our dining experience so memorable. A special thank you to Arnie our cabin steward for level 5, who was always pleasant and helpful.
We were unfortunate enough to have quite a stormy trip. This did not worry us until we tried to sleep on the rough nights. Our cabin was number 328 on level 5. The noise was quite unbearable. We had to try and sleep at the other end of the bed, Kleenex stuffed in our ears and a spare pillow over our head. The whol...Read more

An old and tired ship
No possible comparison to some of its newer sisters. Eminently unsuitable for older and mobility challenged passengers. My wife brought her own wheelchair on board and it spent almost the entire 14 days stowed on the balcony because while the room stewards were busy, their trolleys blocked the narrow passageways so there was no hope of getting by with the chair. My wife spent the entire cruise either confined to her cabin (stateroom ? be real) or tottering to a restaurant with a stick just for meals. The priority embarkation and disembarkation we had been promised on booking were nowhere to be seen. The gold on this one is tarnished, both on the vessel and those who sail her. But then, I guess that's why she's been relegated to Melbourne.

Boring couldn't wait for it to end!
Where to start. This was my second cruise with Golden Princess the first one being ok. The second one was absolute tedium.
The cabin balcony door didn't secure properly and even after telling the room steward nothing was done about it. Despite 14 months passing between the first and second cruise the restaurant menu was the same. There must have also been a budget cut to the entertainment as there was half the amount of live shows.
One of the performers who does a Freddie Mercury show was extremely boring and loved to shove the micropho...Read more
ne in people's faces despite them being bored and disinterested. I knew there was a reason the front row was empty! Had a peek for his second show and half the theatre was empty! The other musical acts were dull however it was funny to watch the singer of one of the bands try and hit on women every single night. Obviously Princess Cruises haven't caught up with the #metoo movement! Most of the people onboard are quite old and it can get pretty nasty watching them fight over seats. I will never sail with them again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Princess your standards are slipping
We have done over 20 cruises with Princess and this was our worst experience. We were upgraded from a wheelchair accessible cabin to a suite. We accepted on the condition that the wheelchair could enter the suite. We gave the measurements of the wheelchair and we were assured it could enter the door. On boarding we were dismayed to find that due to the configuration of the entrance ( two doors set at right angles to each other) there was no way that a wheelchair could enter suite C748. Also we were told the doorway was 24 inches wide, it was 22...Read more
inches. My husband who cannot stand unaided spent the cruise moving around the suite clutching onto the furniture and walls ( highly dangerous when iit was rough) The staff were very helpful but there was not much they could do as the ship was fully booked. The buffet was always crowded and the food there was terrible but it was the only option for lunch on port days. There were several problems in the suite, no water for several hours, blocked toilet and a leaking pipe oozing foul smelling water in the wet bar sink. Our cabin Steward reported it three times and nothing was done until we lodged a complaint at the pursers desk. The desk staff are very offhand and unhelpful. In Noumea the shuttle buses were all unsuitable for elderly or people with disabilities. Surely some buses with low floors and easy access could have been provided. If you have been on the Golden Princess recently or cruised with any of the cruise directors staff before and you have a good memory you can expect to win the trivia and other games. They do not change the questions, This beame obvious when the same two or three groups who were doing back to back cruises won almost every trivia and game show with incredible all correct answers. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful though we struck a grumpy nurse in the medical centre whose manner was very off putting. She told me not to take a walker into a room because it was not big enough, in fact there was enough room to take four walkers comfortably. Will we travel with Princess again? Yes because our others cruise experiences have been g1 comment

Old and slow- the ship AND the passengers
First issue which we didn't really mind was that we received an email from Princess that advised that due to some mechanical problems the ship was unable to travel at the usual speed but by reversing the itinerary and limited time in port, the ship would be able to visit all ports that were included. This meant cancellation of shore excursions and some other rescheduling.
Embarkation was fairly trouble free except that the priority queue included all those with mobility issues and as we were about to find out, this was about 75% of the passeng...Read more

the good, the bad and the silly.
Lovely staff, ship very clean, beds comfortable and food very good. Woman who gave information on NZ spoke in a droning monotone which made it impossible to listen to her without falling asleep. Entertainment no good at all and ship activities were very silly. On the last night we all had to stop eating, stand up and do the chicken dance. Really. We are not children. Would not cruise again.

35 Day Cruise
Land components from Sydney to Hawaii and return were great but two lots of 6 days at sea not good. There were a lot of elderly people on board which is kind of expected on long cruises, however, during the days they had silly childish games such as make a paper plane, throw a bean big in a hole, hello they are kids games. Also, oldies grab a seat near the coffee area, read a book, fall asleep. Every Princess ship we have cruised on were great but the Golden Princess in need of a full refit. Crew great, entertainment quite good, food good a fair prices for alcohol.
