How much is drink package we are doing 11 nights. also can we pay our gratuities before hand?
2 answers
We have always done drink packages on previous cruises however have decided never again. Recently did Alaska cruise and my husband bought package and I didn’t to test it out. Long story wasn’t worth the nearly aud$100a day we paid so depends I guess where you are from. Anyway most days we spend on land. We are going on another Princess cruise in December and this time will pay as we go. I have found though Princess really expensive. In comparison we did Celebrity cruises to NZ a few years ago and they win hands down so far as fav cruise and often offer free beverage package I’ve noticed.
Thanks very much for your reply

Sapphire Princess is advertising the drinks package for October 2022 as $US59.99 + 18% service charged which brings it to over $US70 per day. total being $AU103 per day which is ludicrous. It is the dearest drinks package I have come across. Is there some mistake? Do the drink packages go on sale at all?
Thank you for any help.
Regards
Marie

No they don’t go on sale as we monitored it for a long time prior to our Alaska cruise. Def don’t do it. Pay as you go you will save money. We tested it out.

Not too sure about the cans of drink, but certainly bottles of water and at each port I brought back a bottle of wine which was always O.K. - but not bottles of spirits.

What does it cost for a glass or bottle of wine or beer? I am contemplating the drinks package but don't know whether I will use $86/per day
2 answers
Depends on how much you like to drink, but at $15 per glass of wine and the cheapest bottle of wine at $55 - I think a bottle of Heineken was around $9.50, so if you like a few drinks on holiday, $86 won't be hard to use.
There are new terms and conditions. 15 alcoholic drinks in 24 hour period. Not unlimited like it used to be

Hi all, can anyone tell me if it’s cheaper to purchase drinks packages on board Princess cruises or should we pre-purchase? thanks
1 answer
Drinks packages...it is cheaper to purchase when you. board ship...depending what package you want...if only moderate drinker..not worth it..there is usually a "happy hour" in afternoon and one at night..which I think is better than package..purchase one drink, get the other one for $1.00...but ships may vary
vacation loverasked
Is there a wine package that we can buy either when we arrive on board or before the cruise? We have already bought one on another ship.
2 answers
Yes, there is a wine package..but the cost of the bottles is triple as to what we can buy at home...
You can buy a drinks package either before boarding or after. We only had drinks with dinner so didn't buy this package. A bottle of wine would last us 2-3 days and the waiters would store it overnight for us. So we only replaced when needed. You can take 1 bottle of wine per person on board at embarkation.
Similarly you can purchase coffee cards if you fancy a specialty coffee or get 'urn' coffee from the cafeteria. Only to be recommended if you're desperate.
Passengers who had travelled many times took bottled water on board. On a long cruise this cost can mount up.

Where can you smoke on the sapphire princess? thanks
2 answers
I am a non smoker, but there may be a smoking area set aside, but don't be surprised if not as the law has set down a no smoking in confined areas or cabins the promenade decks may have an area set aside for smokers depending which way the wind is blowing, ha ha, but ask before boarding to make sure, but they do accommodate everyone's needs even smoking, that's all I can tell you Happy Sailing.
