Room fitted with Queen bed with no access to it.
In February we were due to sail out on Sea Princess to New Zealand. When we boarded the ship the room we were assigned to had a queen bed fitted into the end of the room with no access to the sides of the bed short of performing gymnastics over the bed and furniture. We took the matter up with the front office and supervisor but they were unable to resolve the matter so we disembarked from the ship.
We have since found out these rooms are meant for single bed configuration and should not be sold as Queen bed configurations. Shame on Princess ...Read more

The most perfect ship in the world
I went on this cruise earlier this year from brisbane to fiji and it is so incredible the lengths that the staff of this ship go to to determine that everyone has a great cruise. They work 12-14 hour days and the room attendants, the galley staff, the entertainment staff and all the rest of staff they just dismay with their hospitality and how great we feel at the end of cruise.

Worst Cruise Ever
Great embarkation and disembarkation but imagine my horror when the Customs Officer had my shipboard account in front of her, so now Princess works in Collaboration with Customs by divulging your private and personal purchases at the Gift shops onboard considering the trip was a woeful 35days there was nothing else to spend money on whilst at seas for five days at a time. Rude, fat and highly obese pax, tatoos on every patch of skin, studs everywhere, body piercings, bitchy nasty women, there was a fight in the Horizon Court between two wome...Read more
n a Punch up in the glass lifts Man and a woman. The one thing that was truly good was the staff mostly Philippine they were wonderful. All the sun lounges were taken before breakfast and books and hats left on them even though no one was using them. Race for the shows every night after dinner as theatre filled up an hour and a half before hand. Otherwise you don't get a seat. Rude people rushing out of the theatre before show was finished.I have never seen so many badly dressed and behaved people in one place looked like they were all going to MacDonalds as for a Dress Code Princess just gave in and allowed these Bogans in to the Dining room. Princess its up to you to set the standards. Do something about it or you are going to lose a lot of very loyal clients. One obnoxious man sat in Atrium all day in a singlet, I spoke to a lot of people who said they would book on Celebrity next time. I have never seen so many badly dressed people in one place, it looked like Pensioners Paradise to me. We Australians must be the butt of many a joke by the staff who work on Princess. Loud mouthed and uncouth people who whinge about everything. There was only one night we had piped classical music played Rigoletta and Bizets Carmen otherwise it was Lollipop Lollipop over and over again, and the wheelhouse bar was for the very rough, common people every night, and the music played was deafening, no staff around to monitor the sound and no staff to monitor the theatre I will be cancelling my world trip and seeking out a better Cruise ship and clientele. to travel with than having to put up with the level of Pax on this cruise.Similar opinion? Cruise Deposits can catch you out if your Credit Card Details change and can not be used on affiliated Cruise Lines.
In 2016 my wife and I both paid $100 each as a deposit on future cruises.
At the time we understood the deposit could be used on any Princess Cruises or Affiliated companies and if not used within two years the money would be fully refunded.
We tried to use the deposit towards a P&O cruise but was told the deposit could not be used with P&O. While I was annoyed I thought it was possible I had misunderstood the speel but was pretty sure I had not misheard. While we have done a number of subsequent cruises none have been with Princess Cruises.

What a rip-off
As a regular cruiser Princess was a top cruise company, until Feb/Mar 2022. No Happy Hour (it was a great social event) not a big booze up.New wine menu..$15 a glass of wine, formally $8.50. Buy a bottle $43 (sorry not put on board,)minimum bottle cost $55.
Well Princess when we get our new terminal in 2020 bring on the competition.

First Time Cruiser
I was on the recent cruise from Brisbane to the Whitsundays and back I was very disappointed I am 65 I felt it was depressing and was disgusted to see people over eating poor entertainment aim at the nursing home set and then having to disembark in Cairns so I could get back to Brisbane due to the weather in time to get to work which cost my sister and myself a hotel overnight and flights to Brisbane I will never recommend this cruise to anyone, the only good thing I can say is the majority of the staff do work hard to please . It was a poor example of what cruises are about and they should advertise it was the floating nursing home

Enjoyable Christmas Cruise
Sorry to hear Emily and her family had some disappointments on the PNG Christmas cruise. We too were on that cruise our groups ages ranged from 18- 62. We loved the cruise! Did not see any walkers or wheelchairs, even commented on the average age being much younger on a school holiday cruise and how good it was. The atrium was beautifully decorated with ginger bread houses and Christmas lights and all public venues had beautifully decorated Christmas Trees. Santa arrived by elevator and was swamped by children excitedly receiving Christmas...Read more
presents. I felt old (age 57) at the deck party which was fun and energetic. I attended the Zumba classes with our 18 year old and there were 20 something’s in the class and interestingly the Voice of the Ocean grand final featured 2 very talented Canadian sisters in their early 20s and a young man I’m his 20s also, from Canada. He too attended the Zumba classes. I thought everyone looked stunning on formal night and those that didn’t dress up were still welcomed into the Traviatta Anytime dining room where we dined. I have never seen anyone declined entry to a Princess dining room. The Captain was friendly and visible amongst the passengers and Duke, our Cruise Director and his team did a great job. Our Ports of Call were wonderful too.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sea Princess has lifted their standards
My wife and myself sailed on the Sea Princess in 2016 and were very disappointed with all aspects of the cruise but decided to give Princess Cruises a second chance to see if anything had changed in 2 years. We just got back from the 14 night New Zealand cruise on 10th Jan 2022 and could not fault a thing. The quality of the service, food and hygiene had dramatically improved. The organisation on and off the ship for shore tours was first class. We have done other cruises with other companies but this was by far the best cruise we have been on. Congratulations Sea Princess for reading past reviews and making changes to improve your customers holidays.

Not as good as previous years
Have to agree with a lot of Emily's comments. Semed like we were on a cruise for old-age/nursing home patrons - wheely-walkers, walking sticks, wheel-chairs everywhere. Lifts, when working, cluttered, as were walkways. Lots of quite senior, unfit, overweight, unhealthy, unwell looking folk everywhere with on-board activities geared towards them. Being a Christmas cruise, young kids were very well catered for admittedly but there was barely anything of note on offer for passengers in-between. Food standards have slipped - nowhere as good as it ...Read more
used to be. There was a flavourless, mushiness, "sameness" quality to the taste of all foods - not nearly as good as it was on past cruises. Items which used to be on the menu as standard, such as steak, fish, lobster on formal nights etc, you had to pay extra, around $25. 2 to 2.5Hrs to be served and finish eating. A bottle of wine that costs $28 a few years ago, now in the $45- $50 bracket. (Around $8 at Dan Murphy's), Soft-serve ice-cream which once was anytime freely available in a cone, replaced by a scoop for $5. Tasty pizzas that used to be free, attracted a charge as an optional extra. Only the basic flavourless variety of pizza was offered for free. Happy hour, where you could buy a beer and get a second one for a $1 has been done away with. Happy hour is no more. The "bean-counters" have been hard at work apparently. Dress standards on formal nights have been lowered markedly. One time it was not possible to attend formal nights unless you wore a dress suit or a jacket and tie at least. On this cruise, men attended in polo shirts and open collared short-sleeved shirts so it's a waste of money to hire or buy formal wear for the cruise. The waiters and room stewards were magnificent as usual. Overall, i was bored witless with nothing much to do except eat bland food and sleep. The calibre of entertainers were mediocre. Not long ago there was a first class show at the entertainment venues either end of the ship each evening. This cruise only had the one show at the main theatre where you were lucky to get a seat being so packed, televised at times and shown on a small screen at the other venue. No more loan of a headset to listen to the soundtrack of the TV screen on the gym's treadmills, etc. Would be reluctant to cruise on the Sea, Sun or Dawn Princess unless there is news of improvements. These ships are showing their age, looking tired and one is left with the feeling the company is squeezing every cent it can out of them before they become razor-blades.Similar opinion? Only enjoyable for over 60s...
Just got off our cruise today from a trip to Papua New Guinea. I'd chosen to go with Princess from the great reputation I'd heard. Unfortunately this was not entirely met for me and my other family members. The crew were absolutely fantastic however I believe this cruise needs a bit of improvement with variety of activities for ALL ages. At least 4/5 percentage of travellers were above 70 years old, which is not an issue however they still need to cater for the small percentage of people who aren't within this age group. For our family, ranging...Read more
from 12 - 48 years we were all quite dissatisfied with the day to day activities especially when you are spending 3-4 days at sea. We expected elderly however did not expect them to be as old and disabled as they were. We felt like we were in a nursing home with knitting classes, old people's music and wheelie walkers and wheelchairs everywhere. The lifts were constantly occupied by wheelie walkers and disembarking the ship took twice as long with oldies struggling to walk down the stairs or hop on the tender boats. Another issue I'd like to bring up is the formal nights, the dress code needs to be more specific NOT selective. My father was declined entry into the restaurant for not wearing a long sleeve shirt? He was wearing a black (short sleeved) collared dress shirt, black dress pants and black dress shoes. May I mention these items were especially purchased for the occasion. Once he borrowed a dress shirt from my partner we continued back in to eat dinner however once we were inside there were many other travellers wearing short sleeve shirts? When leaving the restaurant my father questioned why they were allowed and was told they were allowed to wear this as they were older and felt more comfortable wearing this. This is not right, the rules should not change per person. Anyway to end on a happy note, my steward was absolutely fantastic and Papua New Guinea was a beautiful location.Similar opinion? A Perfect Cruise
Got off the ship today 16/12/18 after 8 night Brisbane to Port Douglas trip. What a top cruise. Everything met our expectations including boarding & disembarkation, food, entertainment, staff & accommodation. We have completed 16 cruises with Princess & several other cruise lines. We will be back for more. After a disastrous cruise with P&O several weeks ago to New Guinea I am now of the opinion that P&O should send a delegation on a princess ship so they might learn how to operate a cruise liner. We also took our son & his wife for their...Read more

n the main dining room and in the horizon a different theme everyday, the Aussie bbq out on the terrace grill was mouth watering as well the pizzeria at cafe corniche, the amuleto cafe and the patisserie our favorite cafe for people watching in the atrium i still cant believe all this is included in your fare, i bought a coffee extras package well worth it used to be known as the coffee etc card and you can share it only for cruises 7 days or longer this i daresay is to make sure all the punches get used i think it was 36 bucks, formal night was lovely theres something about everyone getting dressed up for formal night in the dining room especially and what a magnificent menu to top it off lobster, giant prawns, barramundi, pheasant i could go on just mouth watering, everything about this cruise was just perfect. We decided to do princess shore excursions this time and so glad we did mainly due to my disability but knowing if the port has to cancelled wed get our money back and especially garentee getting back to the ship as well, the help i recieved during the excursion was very welcoming it was good to know there was help along the way for my carer and myself, our cabin was just lovely we had an acessable balcony mini suite, to sum up will definitely be returning to princessSimilar opinion? Great Cruise, Brisbane NZ round trip, 15 days
Just a few things you may find useful. We brought 8 bottles of wine and 40 cans of soft drink on board. Two bottles of wine are allowed on board free (can only be consumed in your stateroom) and other bottles are $15 AUD each (which have a sticker applied so you can consume throughout the ship). The soft drinks are free to bring on board and large amounts don't seem to be a problem. The bottles of wine on board are priced at $28 AUD and above. We purchased some bottles at $32 AUD and they were much better than our quality brought on board, so i...Read more
t seemed a waste of effort to bring extra bottles on board that worked out to be roughly the same price. Cans of soft drinks can also be purchased in 5 packs at a cheaper price (I think $10 AUD from memory), but bringing them on board was definitely easy and worthwhile. We ordered spirits from our room service and they are priced about $21 AUD for 1/2 bottles (350 - 375ml) which compared to street prices, even the discount stores (the brands are quiet good, i.e. cutty scotch etc). Mineral Water bottles are expensive (about $5 per bottle), so we drank tap water from the bathroom, which is fine to drink (it is what they serve in the bars anyway - I guess desalinated water). Our steward left a large bucket of ice each morning and night which I highly recommend, just for the drinking water or to mix your own drinks - forget overloading the fridge. Room service is 24 hour and quick (however, for pizza, it is only available a limited time and costs about $3 per small pizza delivered). Note: Pizza is free in the restaurant area but sometimes a queue. Self serve free coffee is available around the ship in different areas. You can also add cream, which really makes it taste much better. The coffee is not that bad, but you could bring your own instant from home and make that up. There is an intranet throughout the ship so good for communicating with others including friends and children. For example, you can send a single message to all your family members to meet at say 7:30pm etc. With regards to dinner, the set times become a bit of a hassle and the people never change. We later went to the "anytime" dining and got to meet different people every day, I preferred this. Don't forget to bring a jacket for formal nights (males). I didn't have a jacket but still got into the restaurants, most people are at least wearing a jacket on the formal nights. Forget the internet. It does not work very well (when it works) and very costly (about 70 cents/min). Yes, you can access via your stateroom. A lot of websites are blocked. The laundry takes special tokens where you buy at reception and you can cash them back at the end. The passengers are older, but there are advantages in this. On the "youngie" cruises, you cant get a deck chair around the pool and the bar is three deep with people waiting, on this cruise, tons of deck chairs in the middle of summer and I was unlucky if I had to wait 30 seconds to get served at the bar! I also believe we had the best entertainment on this ship, but that's the luck of the draw and what you like. Have a nice trip.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Happy holidayer
Booked this NZ cruise through a travel agent which went very smoothly. It was a 2 week cruise stopping off at ports on the South and North Island. Was extremely happy with everything on the ship. Staff were lovely, food was amazing. Hygiene was well supervised by staff in the dining areas. My opinion is if viruses are airborne there is little the cruise line can do to control them. However, if they are transmitted by other means it is usually by passengers who do not adhere to the strict rules of hand washing and sanitising laid down by the cruise line. I have seen passengers not washing their hands after using the toilets and I think this is one of the prime reasons for the transmission of viruses.

Not as good as they used to be
Did a 14 day trip four years ago, and it was good enough to repeat the same trip. This trip was a disappointment in many ways. The junior staff, waiters and room steward, were mostly very good.. Food standard had deteriorated, not as good as it was, and some main courses were entree size, with ample decoration and minimal substance. Balcony would have been nice if it were not for the sewage odour at slow speed and docking. Did four land excursions. One was good value and a fair price, two were passable but overpriced. One was terrible. The bus...Read more

Never again
Did the 15 day cruise from Fremantle to Indonesia return. On the good side the Staff were excellent. But this was the worst cruise ever. Toilets kept blocking up, food was not very good. The meat was tough and there was very little seafood. The top deck entertainment consisted of a large screen for movies, but little else. Quite a few people had the toilet block up several times. On the last few days a lot of people were sick. I ended up with pneumonia. Never again with Princess. I will stick with carnival, thanks.

price of drinks onboard sea princess
Exorbitant
All drinks on Princess cruises are at the top end of the "extortionate" scale - but even so, you will most likely have to wait for an average of 8-10 minutes before being served. In some bars e.g. the sunset bar on Sun Princess, the staff are exceptionally surly.

Do we pay tipping on a cruise from Brisbane to Perth ..is how much there will be 3 in a cabin
1 answer
No it is not compulsory to tip. We just find it better to tip the people you are in direct contact with as the cabin stewart, restaurant waitress/waiter. Many people think this is unfair, but these are the lowest paid people and are always ready to oblige your every need with a smile.
