    Love it except

    published

The only thing i do not understand is why there is no soft head for dusting. Every other brand of vacuums have them, why not. They are a necessity. I am bewildered and dissappointed. Would love to hear that i am wrong and can find out if there is one, where to purchase it

    Best vacuum

    published

This is a great vacuum! It is not a pretty machine but it gets the job done. Simple, nothing to go wrong. It is a bagged machine so the expensive filters don't get blocked and need cleaning and replacing. The bags are big too. Cheaper than a fancy machine, but better performance

    Does the job!

    published

This vacuum does a decent job, suction is fair and the length of the cord is long which I love. It is quite heavy and bulky though but that's often the case with commercial vacuum cleaners. The vacuum bags are easy to install and are huge, so they last a long time, even in a commercial setting. My biggest issue would be the shape if it. It doesn't glide easily around corners which is a bit frustrating but overall it's a good vacuum for the price.

    excellent Vac

    published

Purchased About 8 years ago, still going strong, worn out 2 floor brushes and had to chop about 50mm off the end of the hose twice in this time, otherwise all original still. originally bought a spare 2 pack of genuine bags, (which lasted a couple of years as they are large,) but have been unable to buy any since. Godfreys will sell you their generic cheap junk which falls to bits long before they are even a quarter full and don't filter properly in the meantime.
Eventually found better bags else ware.
Good quality and performance easy to maneuver
    Cant buy genuine bags.

    Not as tough as claimed.

This is a great vacuum. I have owned 4 and they all died the same way. DO NOT DROP IT! The grey body can not handle it and cracks around the base. Also the back wheel axles are made of plastic and are expensive to replace. I am a cleaner.
    Great suction, quiet.

This is a fantastic vacuum cleaner, very hard working, good suction, very quiet and reliable for our large household. It has bags but they are a good size and they are easy to empty and replace. Works well on tiles, wood and carpet. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a very reliable vacuum cleaner.
    Very reliable
Only that the cord has to be wrapped around the vacuum. Not a problem really.

    Solid performer

This vacuum is strong and reliable. It is a good work-horse for average to large households. The bag seems quite large and holds plenty of dust. Very easy to empty and clean. Only disappointment is that the cord does not retract so you have to wrap it around the unit itself.
Vacuum doesn't lose suction, big bag, long cord, easy disassembly/assembly, good price for reliable unit.
    Cord is not retractable.

How often should the filter be replaced?

Had ours for almost 10 years and are still on original filter.
Not sure what is recommended, but we blow it out with a air compressor when it looks dusty and have washed it several times.
We only use quality bags so it doesn't get very dusty.

Thanks for the reply Mr C. I too only use quality bags, the last time I changed the bag I also washed and dried thoroughly the filter and now after only a couple of vacuum's the top part of the vacuum gets hot. I'm not sure for the reason.

My answer is much the same as Mr. C. I had a spare filter and swapped. Just have to be sure the filter is on the plastic frame properly.

Yes you can, but I wouldn't unless you are prepared to buy filters regularly. And they are not cheap.

Not true. The As5 is not designed to be bagless. There is only a coarse filter designed to protect the motor to some extent in the event of a bag failure.
