A great little inexpensive machine
Had this for approx 12 months and it has done a large amount of work. Use it for making Hommus, dips, breadcrumbs etc.
Glass bowl is excellent, the unit is easy to clean. I thought the blade assembly felt a bit cheap and lightweight, but it has surprised me and survived alot of hard work so far. I thought about buying a spare blade just in case and to get longer life out of the whole unit, but there does not seem to be anywhere in Aus to buy them, so that means it will become landfill when the blade wears out, and I have to buy a whole new one.
This is a great machine at a very reasonable price. I would give it 4.5 stars If I could do halves.
Purchased in January 2021 at Target Australia for $49.00.

Best little appliance I’ve bought.
The best kitchen appliance I have bought!!!! Saves so much time. So far I have used it to make chicken stuffing, crumbed biscuit base for cheesecake and minced chillies for homemade sweet chilli sauce. The bowl and lid go in the dishwasher, so only the blade needs hand washing. I totally recommend this product.

Perfect little addition to the kitchen!
I was looking for a good priced little chopper for the occasions when I just want to chop a small amount of herb, garlic, chillies that is easy to use as well as easy to clean as I already have the best machine for chopping, blending, mixing, grating, whipping, cooking and more, but it is a lot larger.
The Russell Hobbs Classic Chopper is the perfect addition for those little jobs. I love the glass bowl, it's very good quality too.
To my surprise, the blades are quite sharp, I wanted to chop a medium sized parsnip the other day, I didn't put h...Read more

Not very powerful
Easy to clean glass bowl means it can be washed clean without retaining odour or flavours and ready to use again after a quick rinse, easy to use, good on soft items but lacking in power to chop nuts etc. It seems to overheat quickly and speed seems to have slowed since new. Have had this unit for only a few weeks and initially it ground nuts to a paste easily, I used it for processing frozen fruits to make icecream, small batches of cake batter, pesto, bread and biscuit crumbs and vegies but now it is slower than before and nuts are not ground...Read more
as finely as before and it struggles to make peanut paste. The food gets pushed to edges and base so you have to stop and move the food manually (you need to operate it in short bursts so its not really a problem). The simple push to operate action has become tempermental, and using it in short bursts still makes the unit hot and the motor smells occasionally. I am however impressed with this unit for basic quick chops and mixes it takes up little space, is not complicated and very practical and convenient. The price was the selling point and to be honest it is still value for money. Warranty on cheaper items is nice but they have to be returned/posted to manufacturer/supplier at a cost so return is not viable option for most so I am happy to keep unit for this reason, but will probably get a more powerful unit to better meet all my processing needs but that means getting a bulkier unit with more bits and pieces and probably a plastic bowl. They should have put a larger motor in this one, then it would have been perfect.Purchased in July 2021 at Target Australia for $49.00.

Love this little chopper!
I bought this chopper/food processor at Target for $49.00. I live in a small apartment with very limited space so I needed a smaller unit. This gadget will be used over and over.

Loving this brilliant Russell Hobbs Chopper
I bought to this process christmas balls recipes but after reading previous reviews, I ended up just using it as a chopper for hard biscuits and nuts and it was brilliant! I did have to chop in batches as it only fit around half pack of 250g biscuits but it chopped everything down perfectly (no big chunky bits left unchopped). The glass bowl is heavy and solid and the motor end seems very solid and the blade seems to be fairly strong. The large activator button on top makes it comfortable to use either hand and to easily control actions from pulsing to heavy duty chopping. The lid that separates the chopper from the contents in the bowl makes clean up really quick too. Loving it so far

Convenient chopper
Easy to assemble and clean. Comes with a nice glass bowl. Chops onion garlic and meat well. Food gets squashed at the bottom after a few spins and misses the blade so you need to stir up the food a few times. Price is cheap. 3 year warranty is excellent.

Exactly What I was after
I bought this chopper for chopping onions, carrots, celery etc when making soups, casseroles and all those winter slow cooked meals . It does the job perfectly. Saves time. I always find chopping the vegetables such a tedious task. Not any more. It cuts them smaller than I would but I didn't find this to be a negative.

-Does the job well - so far I have made chimmichuri, protein balls and cheese cake to great success
-Easy to clean
Cons

Very good chopper
I bought this to make shakes or juices. It serves the purpose perfectly.
Really love the glass jar, easy to wash either by hand or dish washer. The glass is heavy tells that it is a quality made.
The button is very handy as it is very big and is on top. Having a big button enables user to press the button and also provide some grip while the chopper is in use.
The capacity was OK until the kids started growing up and have to do multiple rounds.
I haven't tried chopping meat but I have used it on spices and they were good too.

It’s OK as a food chopper
My mother-in-law gave me this food chopper to prepare baby food. I’ve tried to use it a few times to make protein balls and baby food and was very disappointed as it’s not a food processor, just a chopper, which isn’t appropriate for either of those things. As a food chopper it works fine though!

Super fast and efficient
Love this chopper/blender. It does everything that a large blender would do except better. Blends, chops mixes. And super fast. Love this little machine. Have made smoothies, blended fruit veggies and nuts without a problem. I really can't fault it. The ingredients also don't pool in one place. Makes your job a lot easier in the kitchen

Can you make nut butters with this machine?
2 answers
Hi Karen B, no you couldn't make nut butters with this machine. The blades aren't sharp enough nor do they go fast enough. I don't think the manufacturers would even say it could.
The only machine I know of (and I have one) is a Thermomix, that can definitely make nut butters.
I use my Thermomix for a lot of my cooking, but this chopper comes in handy when I'm NOT using Thermi and I want to chop up garlic, chillies, onions, herbs etc., for when I'm using my big stock pot or fry pan.
Hope this helps, Bye.
Hi Karen,
No this machine wouldn’t be suitable for Nut Butter. You’d need a food processor for that. I have used this machine to chop whole nuts for biscuits and slices.

Question - is this good for blending spices into fine paste?
I'm trying to decide between the Sunbeam Multichopper or this Russell Hobbs one.
The Sunbeam is only 500ml, but I'm wondering if the smaller blades is better for blending spices.
The power on the Sunbeam is also stronger at 450 watts, although the capacity is smaller.
I like how the RH one is a bit larger, but wondering if a small chopper would be better for spices.

I’m not too sure about spices. Most of the spices I use are in powder form. It is great for herbs such as parsley.
Thank you heaps for your help!
Sorry, it was a communication error on my part. I meant grinding herbs into a paste texture?
I've been looking at some indian and mexican recipes that require me to grind certain ingredients into a smooth paste blend, so I was wondering if this would be good for that?
Or would the paste be too chunky and not chopped/blended enough to become a smooth paste?
Hi CJi, at first I thought you meant spices too.
But, I realise now you mean chopping garlic, ginger, chillies, lemongrass and herbs such as coriander roots and leaves into pastes. I can tell you that I make my own pastes all of the time BUT, wouldn't use this chopper for it at all. It would take forever and would still be chunky, particularly if trying to chop ginger, galangal and lemongrass as they are pretty fibrous. You would be chopping, stopping to scrape down, then chopping again many times.
I use my Thermomix to make pastes all of the time. I also use it to dry roast spice seeds and mill them into a powder before adding the "wet" ingredients as I mentioned here to make the paste. I make my own Indian & Thai curry pastes and blends quite often.
I use this little chopper if I'm not cooking with Thermi and I'm just chopping some simple things such as garlic, chilli, onion, herbs, and only because I hate chopping them on the chopping board, seems to take forever. I like quick and effective cooking.
Hope this helps. Cheers

Can you chop cabbage to make coleslaw?
3 answers
Yes, you could but not in great quantities .. This little chopper is perfect for one or two people.
Thanks and if you have actually made Slaw are the pieces longish or just very small bits?
You could, but you would have to put small chunks of cabbage in. I don't think you would get "longish" pieces, probably small chunks. It would take some time compared to a larger food processor. This little chopper is great for garlic, ginger, onion, chillies, herbs etc. It will chop a lot of those food types, to add to casseroles, soups etc. But as Jenny B said, for something like coleslaw, good for 1 or 2 people. Hope we've helped.
