No comparison with 2 stroke machine
I bought the skin only as I had bought a drill years ago and had mistakenly continued to buy 18volt Ryobi tools. Yes, it was a mistake to buy these tools because they dont work efficiently.
I have a Stihl 2 stroke 14 inch machine but I wanted an electric one for quick jobs on small branches. I read a couple of reviews here and the Ryobi sounded fine, and even though I swore I would never buy another Ryobi product, I bought the OCS1825 skin.
Compared to the Stihl, the Ryobi is painfully slow. I didnt realise it at the time I bought it, but it ...Read more
has a manual pump for the oil. I couldnt believe it. The whole unit looks almost like a toy. I even made the mistake of compounding my error and bought a new chain from Bunnings, thinking that the Ryobi one is the problem. While it cuts, it is painfully slow. I am talking about 30mm fresh branches. I just tried it on a similar dried branch and it was very ordinary. I am seriously thinking of throwing it in the bin. I already bought and returned an Ozito pruner because it was terrible. It was supposed to allow for one handed cutting of 65mm branches and it couldnt do half that size. These tools are not cheap. The Ryobi OCS1825 skin was $159 and the pruner $98. Strangely, I got an Ozito pole chainsaw for half price - $50 - and it was just fantastic. I recommend that. Simple and it cuts well.Purchased in October 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$159.00.

Fantastic little worker
Brilliant little battery operated chainsaw, lightweight, easy to use on a ladder. It's not huge but I've felled trees up to 30 cm diameter. My only criticism is the oil reservoir leaks a little while not in use. Regardless, considering the price and convenience, I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Used every winter for 4 years. Still going well.
Note: this is for the earlier model than shown. Specs are the same. Bought this to cut up to 12.5cm logs for a small wood burner. It gets used a couple of times every week over about 4 months of the year. This is cutting various gum woods including trimmings from fence posts. Still on the first chain and bar. The original 1.5Ah battery is too small for my use so bought 4Ah. Only complaint is the Chain oil system. Had to replace the rubber cap and had to buy a whole reservoir to do this. Shame Ryobi! Good solid unit that starts every time and works well if maintained.

Good battery saw
Was useing a petrol chainsaw but that died,so decided to "go green".Found this machine to be good for around home use for small trees and bushes. Not as quick or powerful like the petrol machine but trust me it is efficient.Would only use it on light to medium work around home,i dont think that it would handle a couple of tonne of your winters firewood but light stuff not a problem.Battery lasts a long time.BEWARE,machine labelled as 10inch or 254mm chainsaw, but in actual fact it only has 8 3/4 inch or 225mm of useable blade as the rest of chain...Read more
is in machine body, had i had known this i would have got the next size up.This is certainly misleading info, they should also note machine with actual useable chain/bar.Have sliced through tree branches about 6 inches/150 mm round with relative ease.I would recommend this product for light/medium around home periodic use.Purchased in November 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$239.00.

Which battery does it require?

A standard 18volt rryobi bat available from bunnings
Jem, it will run on any of the Ryobi One + batteries (Bunnings). The difference in Amp hour (Ah) is reflected in the price, it will run on the smallest (1.3 Ah) but it won’t run as long as it will on the 5 Ah, which is a lot more expensive, it’ll run for a day’s work on the 5 Ah

how do I grease the chain bar hole? Do I just put a little bit of grease in and squeeze it in each side?

we are looking at getting an ozito chain saw not sure what model yet, has anyone had any issues with ozito tools?

I've found Ozito tools to either cut or grind etc well or not to work well. I bought the ozito electric pole chainsaw - 240volt and it has been tremendous. If you are going to cut reasonably thick wood, I would stay clear of the battery chainsaws. If you're going to buy a 2 stroke machine, try to drain all the fuel after you use it before you store it. Carburettors dont like fuel in them while in storage. I've had problems with every 2 stroke if I dont use it consistently. If you're using it on your block, I'd get a 240 volt machine and an long extension cord. The machine will last for years and you wont have batteries that dont like storage in a discharged state.
