Hello I have just booked an appointment to take my car into one of sellyourcar.com car yards the closest to me is in Dandenong. I am selling my much loved Mercedes’s CLC kompressor because I have to. I can’t afford to get 12 months rego on the car and it runs out in a few weeks . Also there is a graze on the corner of the front bumper and the front blind to the sunroof needs replacement clips which aren’t expensive but I’m in a position I have to sell. I’m also the second owner but should that make a difference if we both looked after the car. All these things will bring the estimated price quoted down but how much lower would the estimate be. I’m really in a between a rock and a hard place. the estimate was around $8,500. My car is really in terrific condition apart from these few things. Can anyone please help me? Thank you. Mel

Hi Mel, Apologies for the late reply. I have just seen your message and your appt booking for yesterday at 9am. I can see that you didnt attend your appointment, perhaps because you are hesitant to sell and unsure how the online price will differ at an appointment. I will ask the buyer at Dandenong to contact you and have a chat about the pricing Thanks Mel.

Hi,

My Hubby has a old vintage ute - a 1990 Toyota Landcruiser, HJ60RG Deluxe Wagon 5dr Man 5sp 4x4 4.0D that he has been wanting to sell privately. This dual cab UTE drives amazingly and only one of a kind – custom chop with tray, built by one of the best in Australia – Tinman Fabrications. It is mechanically sound, fully engineered (with certificates to prove) and all in working order. Was wondering if you can sell his car.

Cheers

Hello,

As long as the car hasn't been written or have any mechanical damage we will be able to give you a purchase offer. The first thing you will need to do as enter your details via our website to get an estimate; then book an appointment in at a branch. Hope that helps! Sell My Car

Yes you can negotiate, however, it will depend on the quality of the car, the type of car and their ability to on-sell it.

I'm about to sell my car today as I'm quite ok with the price they offered! However since it's sat they will be able to transfer money on Monday and it will hit my account on Tuesday. I m fine with that but I m not sure why I will leave my car behind with them for the weekend when I don't have the money yet? Is this the normal practice in sell my car? I m not sure if I can trust them with my car and wondering what if they change their mind after 2 days and come back to us saying no for the deal?! Even though the paperwork is done today is it worth going forward leaving my car and wait till Tuesday?

I'm sure you can trust them. The alternative is to take your car and bring it back and finalise on Monday - they would be OK with that I think

Hi DeeArav,

We provide a legal sale contract to you, which is your security for you to leave the vehicle with us. This is normal practice with us, we have purchased over $97 million dollars worth of vehicles since we opened in 2014 and are backed by Cox Automotive.

Hope that helps,

I used the glasses guide, it said my car is worth $4000 in its current condition. How can you use the glasses guide if your online quote said $1800?

Daniel O.SellMyCar.com.au

Hi,

Our online valuation price is only an estimated value and we now use a number of sources to generate the online valuation price, not only Glasses Guide.

We will then give you the final offer price when you come in for the free appointment where we conduct a full physical inspection.

If you wanted to discuss the valuation price before booking an appointment or have any further questions, please either call us on 1300 474 777 or email your details though to [email protected] so that we can pass your details onto the closest branch.

Thanks
Jess

Hi,

Normally the offer price is only valid for the day but it really depends on the circumstances. If you don’t accept the offer price on the day, you will have to double check with the buyer how long they can hold the offer price for, and then organise another time to bring the vehicle back into the branch. We will have to complete a quick inspection again once you return to make sure nothing have happened to the vehicle since you have been gone.

In regards to your question about payment, you receive a legal contract of sale which is a legal binding document once you leave the branch, so if there are any issues we refer back to the document. We also recommend that you bring a bank statement that has your bank details so that we can verify the details before it is all processed. Once the payment has been made, we can also provide with a remittance advice or a receipt to show that the payment has been made.

Please contact us on either 1300 474 777 or [email protected] if you have any further queries.

Thanks
Jess

I was wondering how and what your online estimate is based on? The current base market value of my car in $12,500, after looking around on all the car sales sites they are selling at approximately $14,000, where your estimate online is $4000 and if going by the current reviews that will get knocked down further on inspection. The online evaluation is 1/3 of the market value of the vehicle.

Daniel O.SellMyCar.com.au

Hi Stuart, Our system uses a combination of industry sales data as well as Glasses guide to work out an estimate. The site does only take into account limited information so things like extras, damage or modifications are looked at by the buyer at an inspection. If you would like to chat to a buyer please email your valuation information to [email protected] and we can have a team member contact you. All the best, Sell My Car.

I wouldn't even bother Tony, it was a complete waste of my time. There was a $7000 difference between the online valuation and the in person valuation and my car is immaculate with full service books no scratches and brand new tyres. They will only be able to offer you what you would get for trade in. Hope this was helpful

I got a online value of $3710 but there is some body damage at the rear end still drivable and the rest of the car is fine. How much would you take off the original online value for body damage? Would it even be worth coming in??

1 answer
SellMyCar.com.au
Daniel O.SellMyCar.com.au

Hi Julian,

Any damage will have a negative impact on the online valuation as the website does not take any damage into account. Generally our trained and experienced buyers will need to first carry out the physical inspection to be able to determine an offer for you. However, if you would like to send us through an email with some photos, all the specifics of your car along with your valuation we can pass it all onto one of our team to have a look into and give you a call regarding it.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

There is no cost involve. If you don't like the price they offer, negotiate with them. They will try to match the price you want base on the condition of the car, such as, how well it have been maintain, how many km done, etc.
