My Blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier has been on Sentinel Spectrum every month for 7 years now. It's been an excellent product and I have had no negative issues to report except that I would agree that it isn't the most palatable chew for dogs. They obviously don't taste great and I do finely cut the chew and mix it into his food. There have been no noticeable side effects physically, nor have there been any behavioural changes since having him on Sentinel Spectrum. I have read the feedback here and I am absolutely surprised about the negative co...
Read moremments made. Either the given dosage isn't quite right for the dogs body weight or there is something else not related to Spectrum causing these problems, maybe allergies. It seems unusual that many dogs are fine with the product and there are so many inconsistencies.
To the person stating a marketing scam with 1 star rating. Firstly, the product is manufactured by Novartis NOT Verbac. Secondly, if Verbac stated and admitted that this product was not effective, wha...
Read moret do they know.....it's not their product. I think the person that claims to have reviewed THIS product is talking nonsense and most likely is referring to a VERBAC product. Go get your story right and contact Novartis about this product. They actually know what they are talking about so go and troll elsewhere. What good is a tablet the dog won't eat. This is too expensive. No more Sentinel for my pets.

Puppy (sick) Given 11-22kg Pack (11 week old GSD puppy 8.5kg) - store staffs recommendation
Fingers point to this product but not 100% sure at this stage.
Not given a full chew - Took a small amount off as it states 11 kg >
Given 8 pm with her meal, Next day she didn't seem all that interested in any of her meals which was out of the norm. but being puppy and not sick at the time I didn't think too much of it.
at 5 am next morning (33 hours after) she was vomiting and had diarrhea, after clean up she vomited a few more times in the next hour or 2. Morning Breakfast (38 hours after) not eating as much but ate her mean somewhat ...
My pups had it a few times since being sick from giving her this the first time and she has not had any ill effects apart from the first time... maybe it was just something she needed to get used to! ...
Read more However she hates the chews... I need to cut it up into small bits and hide them in her food. So the star rating can stay at 3 :)Is Sentinel the answer to Heartworm and Fleas? Please think twice before giving this to your dog. Sentinel is a monthly tablet that guards against heartworm, fleas, roundworm, hookworm and whipworm. Wow! Now that's a mouth full! Seems like an easy answer to all your prayers, right? Are you wondering how one little pill can do all this? Well the answer is simple and straight forward; it poisons heartworm, fleas, roundworm, hookworm and whipworm. Actually, it's enough poison to kill an army of insects and parasites. But it's FDA approved and they...
Read more say it is harmless to dogs. So, is it really safe to give your dog Sentinel? After one dose, our dog, has been vomiting, had diarrhea and hasn't been able to eat or drink for 3 days. We have been to the vet for IV fluids and anti nausea medication and she's not much better. Sentinel is an internal insecticide and poisons dogs. I will never give this to our dog again.Find out how Sentinel Spectrum compares to other Heart & Intestinal Wormers

I was given a beautiful Staffy/cross by my daughter, 5 years ago. Today she is gone. I had her on Sentinel for Heart Worm Preventative. Yesterday my vet told me, they no longer sell it because it doesn't work. They tested Charly and yes, she has Heart Worm. My friend, comforter and protector. This product does not work and I feel like I have let Charly down. I'm devastated. This company should be made pay for all the lived they have ruined.
My two previous dogs were on Sentinel and were always scratching. As they were outside dogs I just thought it was from sitting on grass and spent many dollars over the years buying creams, special washes, etc. Sadly I never worked out it must have been the Sentinel. 10 years have past and I now have a rescue dog who came to me happy clear skin and currently on a different chew till this month. Two weeks ago I started using Sentinel and my poor dog has been driven made with itchy skin. My dogs behavior has also concerned me, very quiet possible depression as noted in the precautions.
Never again for my dogs.
My dog has been on TriFexis for 5.5 years. Her whole life. Switch to Sentinel she is covered in them. She also had red places on her skin from scratching. She's black so I didn't see anything but she started scratching. So Thanks from me, my kids, and all my pets.

I have tried everything to disguise the taste and smell, and always give it when they are most hungry. Always finely chop it up and mix with smoked oysters, Vegemite, Tuna, raw steak. Each of my 3 dogs sniff it out or taste it and refuse to eat it. Even mixing it with their food fails.
It works well, but with all the chopping and wasting, I am going to change. If anybody has any alternative that works as well, it would be appreciated to know.

I have been using sentinel for about 4 years now on my dog. It is a little costly but well worth the money. One chew a month to treat all worms and fleas. No side effects and my dog thinks they are a treat to eat. Highly recommended.

I have used Sentinel Broard Spectrum for years with my 14-year-old cattle cross dog. She has never had an adverse reaction to it, although I do have to chop it up and disguise it in her food. Sentinel works very well with her. She has never had any gastro-intestinal problems with it despite a long history of sensitivity following chemotherapy several years ago.
However, my two young Kelpies have both had adverse reactions. 14-month-old Banjo has had diarrhea following administration, while poor little Lawson has been very unwell after his rece...
Gave this to my puppy and it made her very sick, within 15 minutes throwing up everywhere. Poor baby, can't be good for them!
I tried every way of giving this to our staffy and she hated it every time, Very frustrating as it's no cheap. Will be looking for an alternative next time.

We have three dogs, and beagle and all three have been on sentinel since they were puppies. We have never had any fleas on our dogs and never had any instances of worms. I have been using this product for my 3 year old GSD for the past 2.5 years and never had any issues with fleas or worms. My dog thinks of it as a treat and as a result sits and wags its tail waiting for it.
I have used sentinel spectrum on all of my dogs 1. rottweiller 2. American bulldog 3.neopolitan mastiff and now my miniature schnauzers it is a fantastic product. Regarding the fleas, in all my years of using sentinel I have seen fleas on the schnauzers once and this was due to them playing with other dogs that had fleas. The fleas jumped onto my dog however they could not live on my dogs they died a quick death.
This product really is very convenient as it treats several things at once and I am not constantly having to think what pill is due at what time..

I am reading through these reviews and keep catching myself shaking my head. This medication is PRIMARILY for heartworms which is MOST important for your pets. In addition to intestinal parasites which could also be harmful to your pet.
Please take the time to read what all is included in a product when administering it to your beloved fur babies. The medication works as a birth control for fleas. Therefore there will not be an investation of fleas in your house. It doesn't guarantee that your pet will never have a flea on them while taking t...
I have had my dog on this (tried something new) for three months. She is an inside dog, but just in going out to potty her fleas have been terrible! Her skin has been so irritated, not only from the fleas, but also from having to give her soooo many baths to get rid of them. Would not recommend this to anyone! I hope it works on the parasites, because it sure doesn't work on the fleas ;(
Chewable tab verses oily liquid
Expensive, doesn't work at all on fleas
We have been using sentinel for years and our dogs have never had flea or worm problem. Great product would highly recommend just make sure you keep up treatment
We have three dogs, shih tzu, weimeraner and beagle and all three have been on sentinel since they were puppies. We have never had any fleas on our dogs and never had any instances of worms or parasites. The fact that all of this is built right in to their heartworm medication that we give every month anyway is a huge plus to me. The only downside is they dont really take them when given as treats. I just put the pill inside a little dab of peanutbutter for each of them. Works like a charm. Would definitely recommend.

My furbaby has been on sentinel since she's a puppy. We never had to deal with fleas and big plus that her heartworm and wormings are all done. She's take the tablet off my hand every month. I'm glad that I don't have to force it in her mouth. I would highly recommend this product.
I have had 4 German Shepherds on Sentinel and they have never had a single flea on them. It does exactly what it is suppose to do. Kill fleas and and control worms. The only complaint I have is it doesn't make one for the larger dog over 50 kg.

I tried this product as one of our Golden Retrievers gets very sleepy when given Comfortis which is what we had been using till now, and the sleepiness persists for over 12 hours.
Whilst the dogs were happy to take these chews without forcing it down their throats like most medication, that's the only good thing about this product.
Did not kill any fleas.
And yes, before you ask, I did use Capstar prior to kill adult fleas that might have been on them.
The dogs were still scratching and still had fleas even after repeated doses of Capstar a...

If your dog won't take the medication as an entire chew, they are easy to cut into little pieces and then just mix them in with their food. My 10 and a half year old Shih Tzu has taken Sentinel for years. It is effective. Search on the internet for the best price.

My 11 year old beagle springer spaniel cross has been on Sentinal for 5 years and in that time has never had a flea. Prior to that I tried Frontline which worked for a while then failed, and Advantix which didn't work at all. He doesn't like the taste of the chews but takes them no problem if I cut them in half and embed them in a piece of fetta cheese which he adores - to take them I make him sit or lie down or do anything else that he usually might get a treat for and he just gobbles them up! Also have had no intestinal worm problems and it is his sole heartworm protection as he is a total nightmare at the vet and needs sedation to have an injection. Love it!
I just paid $53 for 3 months of worming and flea coverage for our beloved member of the family. Open the pack - just 2 tablets!! That is $26.50 per tablet. Just crazy! Only then looked at the production line - Puerto Rico to Switzerland to Australia. Says 3 tasty chew enclosed - not this time.

It appears that the product is consistently good based on the general consensus here but we all know the product doesn't taste good.....it's a medicinal preventative. Do you know any human medicinals ...
Read morethat taste really good..thought not! So, for the person who states it's a "Horrible" product based on taste and it's crap needs a reality check. It's actually the best product out there for dogs. Be creative, mix it into their food ...no big deal. I do it because I care about my dog. The person "Not Enough Words" needs to make sure you do not give Sentinel Spectrum to a dog that already has worms or other ailments. Visit the vet first before dosing with any worm products.
