SJ scam = junk
dont waste your money is my opinion. Worked about 5-6 times now wont download the videos / photos. 2nd one died within a month and no help from sjcam from china. The one that died was within a month of purchase. The second one only did about 10 videos and maybe 20 photos

Worked really well until it didnt.
I bought one and used it often cave diving in Mexico. Good quality and cheap to buy. Then after about 4 months the power button stopped working, so it became useless. Prob still got my monies worth, as the Gopro are about 4-5x more expensive and would prob upgrade every 12-18 months anyways.

Bought mine from geardo.com.au and it works great!
Price was great, delivery was excellent, what more can you ask for? Wanted something like a gopro that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg so the other alternative people were talking about was sjcam. Originally bought it so i can put it on my sons quadcopter but we've been using it for heaps of other things after that!
Cheers Geardo!

Ideal sports/dash camera for the "average user".
For use as a dash cam in the car and on the motorbike I just couldn't justify the GoPro so the SJ4000 reviews convinced me it was a viable option. Having spent some time with it I'm extremely happy with the whole system. All possible mounts except a suction cup ($3 on eBay) and the ability to connect to the standard 1/4 thread make it extremely versatile. Quality is better than expected and I doubt most people to pick the difference in quality. And I can be liberal with the way I use the SJ4000, if it gets dropped, damaged, soaked or wrecked I can get another for around $75. Even if you insist on having a GoPro for the image, a backup FJ4000 would be a good idea, and most observers wouldn't know the difference.

Excellent camera given the price, 5 of these for the price of a single GoPro!
I bought one of these early on in it's existence (now on current firmware) without the WiFi option and it's done me extremely well. It's a GoPro clone but redefined a few things where the GoPro was dragging the chain with such as the small preview color LCD on the back which makes aiming much easier and a proper menu system where power is back and shutter is select and has two handy up/down navigation keys.
Image quality isn't up to GoPro standards but for most purposes it's not far off. There are some anomalies such as 720p60 isn't really 6...Read more
0 fps and the image sharpness is unreliable, I found that super sharp in the menu was in fact "less sharp" and gave much improved video quality, still sharp but not that fake over-sharp.. Another menu option, the HDR mode seems to be there for no reason at all as image looked identical in the tests I did (latest firmware) ..That said the video modes all scale perfectly, 720 looks sharp and VGA is the cleanest VGA video I have ever seen from anything. . . . . Battery life is good,, approx 1 hour filming and batteries are less than $10. Also you get a stack of accessories all included for pretty much everything you can think of and the waterproof housing is very nice even compared to the GoPro, actually very close in terms of quality. . . This camera is based off a dash-cam chip-set and hence it can also perform as a decent dash-cam, . . .. Only issue with mine when I got it was that the lens focus was slightly out, I got it perfect by popping the front off with my fingernail carefully removing the screw thread glue, aiming at a tile wall, zooming in with the arrows and adjusting until it looked as sharp as possible, re-glued the screw and popped the front back on. Technical info: NTK96650 chip-set, Aptina AR0330 Sensor. . .Heaps of into at RC forums.. . . One feature that does deserve a mention is the webcam mode which is nothing short of amazing. Excellent in low light and image quality and wide lens is superb for Skype conferencing, we have one in the work boardroom.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hard to beat
If you are after a reasonably priced action camera which is very similar to a go pro 3 in many ways apart from price then this camera is for you, the camera can be purchased for just under $100 compared to the $300 - $500 plus dollars for a GoPro. The SJCAM has a mini LCD screen built in on the rear so you can see what you are capturing and the dimensions are nearly exactly the same as the go pro 3, the SJ is slighter thicker but not by much, it comes with a water proof case and go pro compatible connectors, they are in fact interchangeable. mage quality is not up to go pro standards but not too far off, the average user would probably not even notice the difference in image/video quality. The camera has WiFi built in with downloadable app for your iphone or android and similar modes photo/video to select from as per the GoPro. You really can't go past this camera if you are thinking of a GoPro - the price is the big winner with this camera, for many less dollars spent you will get a camera very much like a GoPro 3, you could buy 2 of these cameras and still spend less than if you bought 1 GoPro3, I love the GoPros but the price is just too high compared to the SJ4000 - I guess if you are a real aficionado of HD Video and you absolutely must have the best available and your wife is happy for you to spend hundreds on a GoPro then get the GoPro, you won't be disappointed, my choice would be the SJ4000 because the difference in quality does not match the difference in price, and my wife would beat me mercilessly if she found out I spent $500 or so on a GoPro camera to strap onto my drone......Similar opinion? hey guys where can i purchase sj4000 in Sydney/Australia.Thanks!

I purchased it on eBay, check if you need to spend the bit extra for a wifi model.
You can try Paxton Camera in Sydney.
I bought one only last week! AU$ 20:00 via the Wish app. Delivered within a week from New South Wales (I'm in Perth).
So far I'm very impressed! A little action camera with waterproof case, USB charger AND all the attachment/connectors for $ 20.00!
Add another $ 16 for a Micro SD Card (Harvey Norman) and your good to go.
Hope it helps!!
