Uneven cooking can occur when baking cakes
The features are adequate and the design of this oven is fine. About eight out of ten for the way the food is cooked on a fan forced setting as we cannot get cakes to cook and brown evenly when using fan forced. This is not the case on a conventional setting.
Purchased in December 2021 at Winning Appliances.

ce controls. We now know when to use the correct control when cooking various types of food, meat, cakes, etc and what the various types of controls ie fan assisted, fan forced, supercook etc. should actually be used for. I understand that in Sydney cooking classes usually sort out this issue, there are no such classes in Newcastle I understand. Cleaning the oven using the pyrolytic control is a great feature. Oven Exploded, Glass everywhere !!
I came home to find my wife extremely upset and our new kitchen turned upside down. We purchased dual SMEG ovens about 4 months ago and being her cleaning day she decided to try the Pyro cleaning option for the first time.
After some time she was in the kitchen and she said it sounded like a bomb going off. What happened is the inner glass exploded into thousands of pieces. The next several hours were spent cleaning up the hell of a mess that was left. Now she feels as though she has this expensive oven and it is like having a brand new car t...Read more
hat has been in a crash. Even after several hours of cleaning the door grinds when you open it from the bits of glass stuck inside. The guy is supposed to be coming to fix it next week. I doubt whether my wife will use the pyro clean again as it really scared the blazes out of her. Why they don't test this glass under these high temperatures before they sell them I do not know. Would I recommend SMEG, NO, very unimpressed. Our old oven was still fine after 15 years of operation and the SMEG exploded after 4 months. The only good thing to come out of all this is that the dog now stays out of the kitchen, so not all bad news. The worst thing is the fact that my wife is now quite afraid to use the oven as it did really shake her up. I wasn't there when it happened but I could tell when I get home that she was very stressed out from the explosion.Purchased in February 2021 for A$1,640.00.

I have a new Smeg SFA7300X, installed yesterday.
I have had to turn it off at the mains because it got incredibly hot at the top behind the control panel, on its first outing.
So hot, it was burning my fingers to even touch the controls.
What should i try?

Hi howard g,
Was the cooling fan operating when you used the oven? If it wasn't, you will need to organise a technician to visit your home. Could you please email [email protected] with your name, address and contact number. Please mark the email to the attention of Lesley. Once she has this information, she will be in direct contact with you.

Smeg
Yes, the cooling fan was operating.
Tried it again on Convection Fan mode 180 degrees.
Became super hot only at the top on the front where the controls and display are. Seriously hot. Needs to be checked out. I will email as advised. Thanks.
Issue is now happily resolved.
Smeg were very very fast to send out a tech, replace the upper cooling fan which was faulty, and get me back to cooking.
Oven is now cool as a cucumber even after a hot baking session, and I have to say it is fantastic.
Well done to Smeg for exceptional service.

Just bought an SFPA6300X from Winning in Crows Nest. The function of the thermostat indicator light doesn’t seem to do what the manual says. In my oven, when you turn on the oven or change the function, there’s a slight delay then the thermostat light flashes for some time until some minutes later a beeper sounds about 10 times (haven’t sat and counted them), then the thermostat light stays on permanently until you turn the oven off. I have an electricity consumption meter inside the house and the thermostat light stays on whether or not the elements are switched on.
This means I have no idea when the oven is up to temperature.
Can anyone tell me if I’m missing something, is the manual wrong, and if so, how is the light meant to operate?
