Uneven cooking can occur when baking cakes

published

The features are adequate and the design of this oven is fine. About eight out of ten for the way the food is cooked on a fan forced setting as we cannot get cakes to cook and brown evenly when using fan forced. This is not the case on a conventional setting.

Purchased in December 2021 at Winning Appliances.

Love it in all ways, the pyrolytic self-clean function is amazing and worth the extra, can’t think of a negative, installed for 8 months now...roomy, my cooking has never been better, easy and aesthetically nice knobs and rails

I have a new Smeg SFA7300X, installed yesterday.
I have had to turn it off at the mains because it got incredibly hot at the top behind the control panel, on its first outing.
So hot, it was burning my fingers to even touch the controls.
What should i try?

Hi howard g,
Was the cooling fan operating when you used the oven? If it wasn't, you will need to organise a technician to visit your home. Could you please email [email protected] with your name, address and contact number. Please mark the email to the attention of Lesley. Once she has this information, she will be in direct contact with you.

Smeg

Yes, the cooling fan was operating.
Tried it again on Convection Fan mode 180 degrees.
Became super hot only at the top on the front where the controls and display are. Seriously hot. Needs to be checked out. I will email as advised. Thanks.

Issue is now happily resolved.
Smeg were very very fast to send out a tech, replace the upper cooling fan which was faulty, and get me back to cooking.
Oven is now cool as a cucumber even after a hot baking session, and I have to say it is fantastic.
Well done to Smeg for exceptional service.

Just bought an SFPA6300X from Winning in Crows Nest. The function of the thermostat indicator light doesn’t seem to do what the manual says. In my oven, when you turn on the oven or change the function, there’s a slight delay then the thermostat light flashes for some time until some minutes later a beeper sounds about 10 times (haven’t sat and counted them), then the thermostat light stays on permanently until you turn the oven off. I have an electricity consumption meter inside the house and the thermostat light stays on whether or not the elements are switched on.

This means I have no idea when the oven is up to temperature.

Can anyone tell me if I’m missing something, is the manual wrong, and if so, how is the light meant to operate?
