Poor Google Assistance
I got the Gen 2 version. The google assistance for Sonos one need to be improved, a lot. I had a google mini before replacing with this, the sounds are better, but if you want to use voice command to play your music, it is absolutely appalling. If given a choice again, I will get a google home rather than this.
1 star for design.
1 star for sound.

Sounds good; Google Assistant very poor
Sounds quite good certainly a better sound than my Google mini. But if you're buying this to work with Google Assistant don't. As other reviews have said the voice response of Google Assistant via the Sonos is quite erratic and overall is poor. I wanted the voice features of my Google mini but a better sound quality for music particularly thru Spotify. I have to run Spotify and the features (eg select, skip, etc etc) manually thru the computer. And even then it is erratic; mostly it works but recently even the connectivity between the Sonos and Spotify is patchy ie the Sonos device just disappears off the Spotify app on my computer without any known reason. I wouldn't buy it if I had my time over.

Pretty Good Sound Quality
Sonos one are pretty good for rear speakers when paired alongside sonos sub and play bar. When played on its own the sound is equally crisp and fills the room. I have bought 2 of them and paired with Sub and Sound Bar and it's just outstanding performance. It might break my window glass soon!!

Why not to buy Sonos
We have a lot of sonos speakers. Now sonos wont support them with software updates. I bet they can. We will never buy sonos again unless they change thier policy

Good sound with terrible Google Assistant
I decided to upgrade from a Google Home Mini. The Mini is fantastic but the speaker is pretty weak for music. When I read that the Sonos One now worked as a Google Assistant and reading how great Sonos is for music I decided to get one. Firstly the music side of things are pretty good but I think I might need to get a second one to fill the room better. But, what is quite disappointing is the Google Assistant. I found myself getting very frustrated trying to get it to do the things Home Mini could do easily. An example is when I am listen...Read more
ing to a song and I say "Ok Google. Skip". On the Mini it would easily skip to the next song but on the One it would take a few tries. Also asking the One to play a particular song is a hit and miss affair which wasn't the case with the Mini. I'm really hoping that Sonos has some updates coming to the Google Assistant as I'm really disappointed in it at the moment.Purchased in December 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for A$237.00.

Good sound but very questionable tech for the price premium.
I purchased my Sonos One from JB Hi-Fi, as I wanted a high quality speaker that supported Airplay 2 and could support Alexa voice commands. The Sonos One ticks all those boxes.
However now for the bad points:
1. Alexa integration started off fine for the last 2 months but recently has been getting very glitchy. However I have a suspicion that it might have something to do with the Wi-Fi issues see below...
2. NO 802.11n or 802.11ac Wi-Fi support. For a product that is sold at such a premium the lack of 5Ghz support (or even high speed 802.11...Read more

It's a Play:1 with Features
I have had my Sonos One since Jan 2018 now. Simply put, if you want a speaker that happens to have Alexa and Google Assistant integration buy this, it works just fine. If you don't care about sound quality then buy a cheaper Google or Amazon product, they will have better assistant function and pretty average sound quality.
Pros:
- Great speaker quality
- Same great Sonos look
- Great wireless system
- Sonos App and Music service integration
- Voice Control for Alexa is great
- Microphone can be deactivated on the speaker

Terrible Google Assistant Integration
I'll start with what I liked, the sound quality is great, I've tested a few Smart speakers in this market segment and the Sonos One is one of the best. It's size and build quality are excellent. But Sonos market the speaker as a smart speaker with Alexa and Google Assistant integration and that is where the speaker fails badly.
I purchased this to be a replacement for some Google branded Smart speakers. I was expecting the speaker to have all the features of the speakers it was replacing but the Google Assistant was obviously added to the Sono...Read more
s One after the fact in a hurried fashion. There is no ability to have more than one Google user logged into the speaker and no voice recognition. Basically if you have more than 1 person in your household, the speaker is useless. The Sonos app is clunky and the setup process is nowhere near as smooth as a regular Google branded speaker. If you are getting this to replace your existing Google Home Smart speakers. Definitely avoid the Sonos One. This is a great speaker that has been let down by poor software.Purchased in June 2021 at Amazon.

Sonos One and Alexa - doorstop review
I bought my Sonos One well before Christmas last year to replace a just purchased Sony running Google Assistant - I basically swapped it in store because my kids would put the volume up so loud I couldn't get the unit to volume down by voice.
On the Sonos I liked ecosystem and the sound quality, and the touch buttons for volume - though I did feel the product wording 'at that time' was misleading i.e. similar to 'a button to switch of the microphone ''light'''.
It was published that Google Assistant was coming to Sonos One, so I thought I'd ...Read more
buy the Sonos One and swap assistants later. My Sonos One got put back in it's box because I got tired of Alexa fails. I didn't need a doorstop, but I've got one in my Sonos One. This week I discovered that Google Assistant has been released for Sonos One - hold on don't get too excited. I got my cool looking doorstop out and thought, awesome, this could be a great speaker and assistant device; bring on the music! I looked up the instructions and went to swap the assistant to Google Assistant - it looked so easy.Purchased in October 2021.

Sound is good, Alexa doesn't work properly
I am comparing this to the HomePod I already have....
The sound quality for a $300 speaker is quite good, not that different to the HomePod and $150 cheaper. Airplay 2 works well from my iPhone- exactly the same as my HomePod.
Alexa however is glitchy. 50% of the time I get a fail message saying "voice command not supported".. pause. then it works. Or dead silence when I ask it to do something it did just earlier.. It's a hot mess to work out too, though I tried everything I could look up to fix it.
So if you're buying this to use Alexa- my...Read more
advice is AVOID. This device does not work like a HomePod or an Echo- loads of things you'd get from an Echo aren't supported (in Australia or whatever). If you just want to steam music from a device, it's a good Airplay 2 speaker. I'd return this device but stupidly I bought it from JB Hifi and not Sonos direct where they would probably take it back.Purchased in April 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for A$299.00.

Great paper weight
It has a great sound but that it where it ends, you can't use this speaker for anything other than Sonos approved music apps but for gaming, movies, YouTube and TV it is absolutely useless, do yourself a favour and go for another brand that isn't so restrictive.

A nice upgrade from the Sonos Play:1
Those familiar with the Play: 1 will feel right at home with the Sonos One. If you''ve in anyway dived into the home automation space, and feel comfortable with Alexa, then I can highly recommend the One. When you take full advantage of voice controls, it just makes life so so much easier. Worth paying the extra, and also worth upgrading, we did!

A Great Little Smart Speaker
Firstly, the Sonos One sounds amazing! Huge bass from such a compact unit, very warm sound at all volume levels and no distortion when the volume is turned up. It works great for home automation too with Amazon Alexa. With voice commands, I can conveniently control my streaming music service (Tidal), and my smart lighting (Philips Hue) throughout my home, from almost any room. The microphone and voice recognition is pretty close to perfect. Couldn't live without it.

Sonos One released too early
I have just set up a new Sonos One speaker and found out it has limited useablity with voice control. It uses the Amazon Alexa system to operate. I can’t play music I have on my iPad using voice commands. I need to have a paid music streaming service to work with voice command. It’s not much better than the Sonos play one. It won’t work with all my other Sonos speakers. It’s half baked. I could have saved money and bought another play one. All the manual, iphone or iPad controlled speakers are great. Don’t waste your money until they developed it properly.
