A great and compact camera
After almost 5 years of use, this is still the go-to camera when we need something small and easy to carry as it produces quality images with a minimum of fuss under almost any conditions.
Both video and still images are excellent quality and while there are an array of shooting options, in almost any lighting condition it produces excellent results when shooting full auto.
It pairs readily with a mobile phone using the Sony Play Memories app (since replaced by a newer App) and the in-camera editing functions are powerful.
If there is a negative it's the flash performance which is a bit limited for range but otherwise it's hard to fault.
Purchased in September 2021 for A$806.00.

Super stills; excellent videos
I've had an SLR with a complement of lenses. After a while, you tire of lugging a camera bag around.
I wasn't devoted enough to the hobby to use an SLR anymore.
I had a couple of Canon compacts and loved the ease of use and image quality.
Then I found the Sony RX100 M3.
The image quality and video photography is very good for a compact camera.
The Zeiss lens, big sensor and imaging processor do a great job at producing high quality results.
With the addition of Remote Control software, many camera functions can be controlled from an android sm...Read more
artphone using the Imaging Edge app. This includes, zoom, exposure control, exposure etc. As a video camera, the RX100 produces beautiful 4k movies. Its 230g is light enough to mount on a gimbal. The videos are buttery smooth and lovely to watch. No jumpy movements. There is no external microphone socket and like all camera mics, it suffers from wind noise, even in a slight breeze. RX100 M7 has a socket but is twice the price. It has no macro function which I use often, but it will focus down to 5 cm which is pretty good. With a bit of manual focus control, you can move in closer to the subject. Aperture, shutter speed and focus can all be controlled by the lens ring and is fully customisable.
Purchased in December 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for A$630.00.

Take this tiny camera everywhere for great shots!
I have used a Nikon d7100 until I bought this little ( and it is little) Sony RX100 iii. More and more my mobile phone camera was being used because the DSLR was too big too carry around or I didnt have it with me. Phone pics are ok but not the quality I wanted. The Sony gives convenience with its size AND quality shots! Ok, maybe the nikon still has the edge on perfect pictures, but every shot has to be thought out, the Sony works great on auto!! Too easy!! And when we go out bike riding, the camera can now come too! I wish it was abit more ...Read more
weather proof but cant have everything at the reasonable price of just over $700. ( The beauty of not buying the latest model available) With a family it is great to always have the camera available. Makes capturing memories every time simple, just make sure the battery stays charged cos it does get drained after 300 shots or so. The video quality has been very pleasing too which is just another bonus. This little beauty is money well spent.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great pocket camera
I have used a few slr’s and small $200 compacts, so I wanted to go the next step a quality camera which I could slip in pocket.
Not being a big camera buff I did a lot of research and consulted a friend who was a camera buff, he had a cross section of slr’s and compacts, plus a few upmarket Sony compacts. I took his advice and went for the Sony, I chose the rx100 lll and have taken thousands of great photos in the last 3 years. All on the auto option this a great little camera and i would be buy another if this one went missing.
I did add the...Read more

Wonderful camera let down by parts not working and only one service centre in Australia
I've had this camera for nearly three years now and it still works fine as a camera. Impressive low light photography, so long as people or objects are fairly still. I've took this camera with me on a 6 month overseas trip with a Nikon D5500 SLR. While the Nikon had more flexibility, as you'd imagine from a SLR, there were many occasions where the little Sony produced pictures or at least the same quality (in terms of colour and definition) as the big Nikon. Two things stopped working with the Sony but so far they don't effect the camera's func...Read more
tioning. The viewfinder doesn't pop up anymore like it used to: it has to be pulled up, and the cover for the cable to connect the camera to a computer doesn't close properly anymore. I called Sony and they would not give me any idea of what it would cost to fix these things. There was a service and freight charge of $86 to look at what didn't work - which would come off the cost if I proceeded, and the only service centre was in Adelaide. Not so impressed. I've taken around 1500 hundred photos with the camera and I thought it would last longer before parts started malfunctioning.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A pocket rocket.
I needed a small take anywhere camera for those times when my dslrs and associated kit where too much to carry about. After extensive research I determined that this camera would best suit my needs and I have not been disappointed. The large image sensor, picture quality, ease of use and it's small size are just a few of the many pros of this mighty little camera which will comfortably fit in a pocket. The manual could use some more in-depth explanation but for the visual learners out there, YouTube has a wealth of very helpful videos to set y...Read more
ou on the right track. Battery life is excellent and there are a number of options for transferring images to a smart phone, pc or TV. The camera has an extensive range of picture styles and shooting modes just like a real dslr including aperture priority, shutter priority, manual and program modes. This is not an inexpensive camera but it still represents great value for money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great pocket camera
After lugging around my DSLR and plethora of lenses, its a sense of freedom to have a quality camera in my pocket. Sure i could use my Iphone but it runs flat super quick.
The RX100M3 is a fantastic little unit. The metal case makes it feel solid. It feels nice and solid in my hands without weighing too much or feeling plastic or flimsy.
The 1 inch sensor give great image quality for a compact camera, even at night pushing the ISO in the 3200 range. Manual control of shutter, aperture & ISO is a blessing and allows one to explore their creat...Read more

Pocket size picture power
Im not a camera boffin but i think this a great camera. It is expensive and heavy for its size, but worth the investment.
For those who dont like to sport a SLR around their necks, this is a great alternative that fits in your pocket. and ready to roll in and instant.
Its as fast as setting up your smartphone for a photos or video only you won't be disappointed with the picture quality when that special image is enlarged for a print.
