Best family car
I got this car because I was starting a family and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. It’s a smooth drive and is the perfect size for the fam.
It is super spacious - I think because there is many windows and it’s a boxy-ish car now like the slick back type Rav 4 (which I was going to get).

Perfect for us
This is our third Forester and have had it for almost 3 years now. It's been excellent with absolutely no issues. I find it's performance more than adequate and is so much better than competitors AWDs on indifferent quality roads (and I've driven most of the competitors for my work in rural areas) with the full-time all wheel drive being a major benefit. I see no reason to change it for many years to come (although the new model looks a bit enticing).

Shiny aircon outlets on dashboard, reflect into rear-view mirrors creating glare. Constant false alarms with lane keeping & auto braking. Offside interior trim prevented foot coming off accelerator. Radio settings disappear without human intervention. Salesman couldn't tie cellphone into vehicle's Bluetooth. Auto engine stop when at traffic lights etc would drive anyone mad. This car is everything I was looking for !
Stability of this car is very good especially when it is raining or when the roads are rough.
From the driver's seat, visibility is good for almost 360 degrees ! I love that. No other cars in this category can give so much visibility. Many other brands in this category have a hatch back window which restricts the rear visibility.
Running costs are very reasonable !

2016 great improvement over 2010
We were happy with our old 2010 Forester. But somebody smashed it resulting in write off early in 2016. So we had urgently to replace. Insurance (RACQI) gave us a a good payout. Hoped to buy a slightly used model but they were almost as expensive as a new one. We managed to order one to be delivered off the boat, a fresh 2016 2.5Si. We had to accept the CVT transmission as our other must haves of leather, sun roof and max safety gear were only available in this model.
Its a great advancement the old 2010 which was manual and lacked all techno...Read more

Loved our first one, but not the same with the second.
We loved our first Forester purchase in 2010 - reliable, spacious, an all round legendary car! So much so we purchased a second Forester in 2014 however, this one has not been so great. A recent 'oil leak' was detected by our own mechanic (after we became sick and tired of dealing with the dealership service program) - took it straight back to the dealer (thankfully our mechanic knew someone who worked there) and had this checked out.
We were just a few months outside our manufacturer's warranty but were prepared to go in with full force gi...Read more
ven this type of defect is certainly not expected in a car of this age (and only 50 000 km). Even the service guy we dealt with admitted he had never seen this problem before. Thankfully Subaru agreed to fix the engine and the dealership gave us a loan car. This experiences has now tainted our love for Foresters and has completely cemented our skepticism over the quality of the services that are provided by Subaru. Our mechanic also remarked that the air filter had never been replaced after servicing with Subaru for over 2 years. We also became extremely annoyed with the constant pestering to have our Subaru serviced by the service centre. After once explaining that we had a one week old baby at home and the car's service was on the 'to do' list, I was met with frequent calls trying to lock in a service. Once a call with such desperation that they were willing to drive myself and the children home to then take the vehicle back for a service. This was very kind but it came across like they were SO desperate we didn't take our business elsewhere. Only our mechanic now and I think this will be our last Subaru. :-(Similar opinion? So far so good
Bought the top of the range petrol model. Very smooth, very quiet. There are copious whistles and bells which are tricky to learn, but the Delivery staff spent hours explaining stuff and were helpful when we called back.
Seems all very good but early days yet. I will be back with updates over the years I hope
Purchased in January 2021 for $44,000.00.

Going good but maybe a few unnecessary bells and whistles I have not yet gained full competence to use most effectively. Driven my son's Audi seven seater recently and I prefer the Subie by miles.

Nice vehicle to drive.
This is my second Forester (both purchased new). Its nice and easy to drive and I love the "seeing eye" cruise control on the highway, it made it so easy to follow a vehicle whos speed I was comfortable with. The CVT transmission system is a bit slow when first taking off but it performs way better than my old automatic did on steep hills. It has lots of bells and whistles (some I have never used) and so far I am very happy with the driving experience.
The seats are not as comfortable as my old one on a long trip and maybe a little less hei...Read more

Rock solid, Reliable and awesome to ride
To begin with, the high ride seating position is brilliant. If you are looking for an SUV with excellent ground clearance and one of the best all round visibility from the driver's seat, then look no further. Provides the best high ride seating position. Especially i personally enjoy seeing the bonnet and lots of forward visibility from driver seat.
I have a 2.5iS model. The overall ride quality is excellent. Most times it feels buttery smooth. Sometimes though it does feel like lacking the punch when you press the accelerator and expect it...Read more
to zip through. But it doesn't personally bother me because for normal city and day to day driving I never felt it was lacking power. In terms of features, (again I'm specifically talking about 2.5iS 2016 model), it does have plenty such as reverse camera, front row heated seats, moon roof, x-mode,sat nav, keyless entry etc and most importantly eye-sight. I love the eyesight adaptive driving and it's pretty good and reliable when it comes to detecting obstacles ahead and adjusting speeds automatically. However though sometimes you do feel it's a bit overly sensitive but again personally that's not a big issue for me. In terms of features again, I would hope subaru introduces a) Android auto and Apple playSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Drives like a car should
The Forester never ceases to please when I take it for a drive. I've had many cars in my 50 years + of driving but none can compare to the pleasure this car gives me. Where do i start but at the beginning with the electric seats, activated by the keyless fobs allowing the big disparity between my wife's size 156cm and mine 196cm to be taken care of by the preset settings. Yes by the time we reach the drivers door I can say "not so squeasy" slip in and away we go.
The CVT is a bit ordinary and takes a while to kick in but hey I am no longer th...Read more

Great car - Safety first - Brilliant eyes looking at the road for you
Handling is brillant, Power / Performance is outstanding. Dashboard is easy to understand. Eye sight technology & its strong frame is a big plus for our growing family, who want safety first. Eye sight tech watch the road for you, so it will alert you for driving out of the line / obstacles in the front. It will slow or almost stop the car for you if you are approaching a car/ a person / some obstacles in a unreasonable speed ( say the car in the front suddenly slow down or stop and you didn't, it will brake for you.

+ 1 kid), we are very happy with the spacious seating areas. Only thing that we are not completely satisfied is that the car wouldn't lock itself when we drive (which was auto function in our Golf). The booth space is just okay, just the same space as a hatch back golf (it fits a big pram + heaps of grocery, so we are okay) Overall, love this car.Similar opinion? Great car
Very comfortable. Smooth handling. Loved the Eyesight function. This car auto brakes when the camera detects danger of collusion even when vehicle travelling at high speed. Check apps compabality with car Bluetooth before buying. Technology may not recognise certain app you may wanna use. Wheels were misaligned when I first collected the new car. Generally a great car.

Excellent car to Drive
Last year, I bought this car as a gift for my wife and she loves driving it around. It good cool features such as Eyesight, and in terms of visibility it leaves behind other 4wd as it got really wide rear screen, the only thing which could have been better, is its boot, as it in not big enough to stow luggage.

love the practicality and performance!
I did much research before purchasing my 2015 Forester in late April 2017. It came down to a choice between a maxx model Mazda CX5 or the higher S model Subaru with very low mileage, and it was a difficult choice as both vehicles on paper and reviews were impressive. When it came to decision day we drove the Mazda first and really liked it. But then we drove the Subaru and immediately noticed the difference in performance with the Subaru being zippy, more nimble, more responsive, and more comfortable to drive. Maybe a bit more cabin noise in...Read more
the Subaru was evident but not a big deal. Based on this difference in performance and the additional specs of the S model, we choose the Subaru and haven't regretted this decision. So happy with this vehicle. A joy to drive, with all the features that make that drive a little more luxurious like the sunroof, impressive safety features like lane departure warning and obstacle detection, the electronic seat adjustment, heated leather seats, sat nav and a great blue tooth audio and hands free phone system. Actually the obstacle detection feature came into play and prevented an accident within two weeks of having the vehicle so I am really sold on these safety features! The build quality is great, classic Subaru. I have owned a Subaru Liberty Heritage sedan (2002 model) prior to this up grade and that was a workhorse that never skipped a beat, so am confident with the Subaru brand.Similar opinion? Excellent car
I bought my Subaru because of its safety features, but once I owned and drove it, there's a lot more about to love. It's economical to run. The cruise control with seeing eye technology is amazing. Makes freeway driving a breeze. I would recommend this car to anyone wanting extra safety features, high performance and comfortable leather seats.
I love my car!

The car for all seasons, sort of
When the sun shines I can open the huge panoramic roof and enjoy warmth. When the weather gets nasty I have all wheel driving safety and automatic braking. When I do the grocery run the boot opens and closes automatically. GPS, climate control and raised heated seats look after my comfort. What's more, it's got large windows that actually allow the driver to have an unobstructed view in every direction. And the car drives beautifully, quietly and is quick. I thought my previous cars, a Mercedes and a Hyundai were pretty good. This thing beats them on all counts. As Subaru are part-owned by Toyota and are equally reliable I suppose I can use their phrase "Oh what a feeling!"
Purchased in September 2021 for $40,000.00.

Average fuel use is 8 l/100 km
Driver's seat comfort could be improved by Subaru by adding a lumbar support.... Read more

An SUV for everyone
Driving experience is outstanding for the money. Interior is extremely comfortable and tech heavy with 3 led screens of information. For the price offers every convenience including proximity entrance and convenience. The CVT is quiet until pushed, actually behaves like a regular auto and has good acceleration for the 2.5l. The leather is very good quality. It feels like a BMW X3 with more room, half the BM's price, more reliability, half the servicing cost, and in reality as much quality especially when compared to overall cost and warranty. hy spend $50k more - invest. September 5th 2017 Update: 2017 2.5 Forester - Revised Review I would like to revise my previous Review of this vehicle. I have downgraded my review for the following reasons; The lag between Reverse and Drive is ridiculously slow and dangerous in an emergency. The acceleration lag around corners is disconcerting. The voice recognition for Navigation is hopeless. You can not turn off the engine stop at idle function. The average fuel consumption update is not factual and you will find that is inaccurate and your fuel consumption is nowhere near the advertised rate.Similar opinion?
