Subaru Forester S4 XT (2013-2018)
Shane D.Perth, WA
Fantastic car combines performance & practicality.
Purchased used through a dealer the XT is my 4th Subaru. It offers the combination of useable performance & good internal space that I need.
I have found it great for day to day commuting and for fun on the weekends,
The only issue I have is the Bluetooth connectivity not working which my research seems to show is a common fault with the 2014 Forester.
I will look to get this sorted & then the XT will be the perfect car for me!
Purchased in January 2021.

Terrible
Hoping i can change someones fortune before they buy a Subaru like i did on the guise of Japanese Engineering is fantastic and reliable.
I bought my 2014 Subaru Forester XT off the show-room floor, first new car i have ever had and obviously super excited! I had done plenty of research prior to this but had either not done enough or the issues hadn't been found throughout lots of people so far.
Here is the list of things that have been wrong with my car:
A few months into owning my car, I noticed a large knock every time i went over a bump so...Read more
i took it back to the dealer - the Tie Rod End nuts were completely loose. I had and still do have lag and clunking when trying to move between gears at certain RPM ranges at seemingly random times. Talked to Subaru every time i got it serviced, could never replicate so it was always shrugged off. My A/C compressor clutch started squeeling so loud every time it engaged i had to drive without A/C until it was fixed. Subaru did not want to have a bar of this as it was deemed "normal function" My "leather" seats, which im sure, aren't actually leather, has started to crack quite badly (i am 80-85kg's. (175-185 pounds)). Just now, every time i drove over 85km/hr, my whole car started to vibrate so much it couldn't be driven over that speed, i originally thought that it might have dropped a weight from a wheel, nope, my Front Control Arm Bushes are completely flogged out and the rear bushes are cracked. Obviously my car is out of warranty but these bushes should be nowhere near that damaged for the Km's i have put on it and the way i drive it so i got my local Subaru dealer to ask Subaru Australia for good will and their response was that it was denied.Purchased in March 2021.

My ultimate car!
Living in Sydney and being someone who loves to get out in the wilderness and explore I needed a car that was going to cater for both! I've found that car in my Forester XT. Such a spacious, well designed and reliable car. Small enough to navigate through narrow Sydney streets but gutsy enough to go a little off road and get me to where I need to go!

Love it!! Super comfy for passengers as well
We have did tons of research to look for a car that can fit a driver that’s 6ft tall and still being comfortable in the limited space, as well as a big boot that can fit white goods. Very smooth performance and sometimes we even complain about the pedal being too sensitive. Plenty of legroom for back passengers, One tip on buying is to choose the non-leather seats, so much comfier and absorbs less heat in the sun.
Only complain is the vent for AC sometimes is not powerful enough for back passengers under Australian’s hot weather. Oh, and the car survived in a severe hailstorm with only two dints! Very impressive.

Good car for general use
The car is small outside but spacious inside. We can fit three child seats in the second row (if the child seat has got arm rest, it needs to be lifted up). It is easy to drive around and parking in the shopping centre is not difficult. Overall it's a reliable small SUV.

Good allrounder but reverse is too highly geared
Great car for school runs. Sporty. XT good for towing campers. Very capable off-road will go anywhere I want to go. Not a rock hopper though. I just hope I never have to reverse out of a situation though as reverse is not as capable as first gear meaning you could get stuck. I can drive forward up some driveways that the car will not reverse up. Poor design. Seat fabric also prone to early failure.
