A good reliable coffee machine
Once you get the grinding of the beans right, and using good quality coffee, it makes the perfect cup.
The pour indicator gauge clearly shows if you have the right pour (ie if you've packed the ground beans correctly).
It's reasonably easy to use & clean.
The milk frother is excellent due to the temperature bar.
Sunbeam's customer service via phone was very good when we had a few problems initially.

It's all in the grind...
This is a great machine, producing good coffee and hot milk, now...
To start with it was quite frustrating. At first I started with pre-ground Lavazza and it was very weak.Turns out the grind wasn't fine enough (even tho it stated on the pack it was suitable for espresso machines.) Grab yourself a grinder, some fresh beans and keep grinding finer and finer until the pressure pour is perfect. Then you can enjoy the best coffee every time.

some issues
Easy to use and clean. However, very noisy whilst on and not in use. The solenoid ticks every 30 seconds or so (its very noisy) and is really getting on my nerves. Bought 3 weeks ago. Also is anyone else getting a metallic after taste in their milk. I have heard to remove the anticalc filter. Is this in the manual?

Love this machine!!!
I previously had the EM6910 ehich was a great machine but did have a few small issues. One was that the overflow water from the machine didn't always go into the drip tray - it ran under and then came out the front. thos is definitely not an issue with newer model.
It is much quieter than the older model, heats the milk more efficiently, has a milk thermometer built in which is awesome! I love this machine - it makes great coffee!!
I would definitely recommend it!

Great machine
Had a cheaper machine before this one and very glad I upgraded - only fault is it doesn't read the milk temp properly when going to make the second batch of milk after you've done the first but you can feel that with your hands anyway. Overall nice looking machine, easy to clean and makes good tasting coffees!

Still going strong .. 5 years on
Great machine, easy to operate and use
Has been delivering 2-5 coffees most days for the last 5 years
Love the taste of the coffee and the functionality.
The milk frother is also good, although I don't use it that often as I have my coffee black.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable machine

makes great coffee
This machine makes perfect coffee, e have to replace the seal every 10 - 12 months. It is a little noisy, steam perfectly easy to keep clean, had it for four years now. It came with a grinder which also works perfectly. We make four coffees every morning with it. We find the coffee from the supermarket is not as good in the machine. Until we used an old dual floor coffee filter for the machine. Now it works perfectly with all coffees.

Still going strong after 3 years and 10000 cups of coffee
We have had this unit for over 3 years having owned a lesser Sunbeam model previously. We learnt a lot from the previous model like for example how to destroy it quickly.
We have a large family and everyone drinks coffee.
People apparently having issues with the steam wand and leaking water. We found that most of the problems are due to Lime build-up.
Only 100% filtered water enters my machine. Depending on where you live tap water may contain a good deal of Lime so you MUST filter the water before you put it into the machine, the filter ...Read more

Excellent Machine for the Money
I have had one of these machines for over 5 years. It makes good coffee if you buy good beans. It has never given me any trouble and I, therefore, recommend it as reliable. The steam wand is very effective and easy to clean and maintain and makes milk that you can do latte art with. The water reservoir is generous without being too big so the machine remains relatively portable. Mine came with a coffee grinder which is also very good. Easy to adjust and grinds very uniformly. The For under $1000 it is the best coffee machine on the market, in my opinion.

Excellent Coffee
I purchased this coffee machine for my husband along with a barrister course. He absolutely loves it. He has been making amazing coffees since. The machine is very easy to clear and it not a great deal of work like most are. The machine also looks nice on out kitchen bench which is a bonus.

Probably the best machine in the price range
Have been using this machine as the primary office coffee machine for over 12months. It hasn't missed a beat. Easy to clean, easy to use, quick to warmup and probably most important is the consistency in the coffee.
It's certainly at a point where it's worth spending money on good beans and not mass produced swill, where you can notice the small differences in grind, roast, dose and how you've tamped it. It's certainly made me a better amateur barista. As someone who only drinks espresso I can only vouch for seeing other people make their milk coffees easily with the temperature reading making the whole process pretty foolproof.
Having used it consistently in the office it's probably something I'll be looking at buying at home.

Using it daily. Great machine
I have been using the Sunbeam Cafe Series Espresso EM7000 daily for a while now and I love it! Comes with dual boiler, temperature and pressure gauge and a very good steam wand.
The steam wand is probably one of my favourite steam wands I have used so far. Very powerful and easy to clean, not filmsy or hard to use. Coffee extracts well (but that will depend largely on how you tamper, grind and roast your beans) and pressure/temperature gauge is very useful for beginners wanting to learn how to make a cup of coffee well.

maintain. I have bought a few cleaning tablets (albeit pricey) but can notice that it does its job. I would definitely recommend this to any future coffee enthusiast or anyone wanting to learn how to make a really good cup of coffee at home. Of course you would need to similarly invest in a solid coffee bean grinder but that would be part of another review. The drip tray is easily removable and can be cleaned. Machine feels solid and doesn't feel like it has aged one bit.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Still great
Having owned every Sunbeam cafe series, I only upgraded because of the extra features like temperature sensor in the wand. Still a great machine and considering the price, it is as close as you will get to a professional machine. It is still fully manual which is great and having used a professional machine a couple of times this is not bad considering the pro machine is around 18k. The steam is a bit weak but definitely Sunbeam try to improve it with every version. The grip handle feels great and the coffee extraction is excellent. Don't forget you will need to buy a very good grinder to match this machine if you want a great coffee so budget at least a couple of hundred for that also.

Great machine, try to get it on sale though
We bought this machine to upgrade and replace our old and dying sunbeam coffee machine. We got it on sale for $699 with an additional $60 eftpos card from Harvey Norman. It makes good coffee. The pressure gauge is a decent guide but I'm not sure how accurate it is. The same with the milk temperature gauge. You probably can tell if the milk is hot enough if you have made coffees regularly so it may be a bit redundant. You can customise almost all of the settings such as the temperature of the hot water and the amount of water to come out for the...Read more
coffee pour and more. It is a semi manual machine which I prefer. I prefer to make my own coffee the way I like it rather than have an automatic machine make a bad coffee for me. We have been very pleased with the machine so far, however we have only owned it for a month and a half. Our old sunbeam machine lasted us about 8 yrs and it was still going (just). I would happily recommend this product (at the right price).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great machine for the home!
This is a great machine if you spend a lot of time working from home. My coffee tastes as good as anything I can purchase with a 5km range and means I don't have to interrupt my thought pattern and leave the house if I am having a particularly creative burst. Easy Clean and to master!

Hi,
I bought this just over a week ago, upgraded from the minni barista.
I don’t think the pressure is working in the machine. The pressure gauge does not move when pulling shots (I have played around with grind size and amount of coffee in a double shot). We are getting no creamer either.
Could this be faulty?

The pressure pump in my unit broke at the neck and had to be replaced. As your unit is only a week old it should be covered by warranty. The machine makes great cappuccinos.
Start with freshly ground beans. If your beans are old, no amount of fine grinding will save them. The grind size should be fine for espresso coffee. The degree is fineness required fluctuates during the day, so play around with this. Pack the ground beans tightly into the basket. If the grind is not fine enough the water will go straight through without registering on the dial. Does the machine pump water for a black coffee (tap on rhs of the machine)? If not there is a problem.

I have lost the rubber blind filter... can i use a commercial one? I can borrow one from my work

i never got one in my box when i bought it new but a commercial metal blink filter does fit in the group heads, just like the VST baskets fit in them.
