Disappointed
It was a fair machine but when it broke down, sunbeam told us to go to their preferred repairer, Bravo who charges you about $88 to tell you the cost of repair is as much as a new machine. Then Bravo offered to sell us a reconditioned machine instead of repair for slightly less than the repair and with only a 3 month warranty. We decided to pick up our old machine unrepaired. When we came to pick it up Bravo said it wasn’t ready, despite the fact we called ahead to check, so we insisted and they eventually posted it back to us. We wrote to Sunbeam with our concerns via their website. We were ignored.

proffesional clean looking machine easy to use
water tank is quite large which is good. temp gauges allow for correct temp to be reached. very easy and straightforward to use, easy to clean. coffee tastes good from this machine and would recommend for any application. we use it daily to make 4 to 6 cups and it hasn't missed a beat.

Have had it for 5 or more years now.
Great coffee machine. We use it everyday. Only once did it stop working but we fixed it by giving the head a clean. Makes great coffee and came with a free grinder. Bought it from the good guys for around $599 i think.
Always happy with Sunbeam products & always reliable.

Great home coffee machine
Really good home coffee machine. I haven't experienced any technical issues after owning the machine for over three years, and making coffee daily. Coffee tastes good. Obviously not as a good as what you'd get in a cafe with a commercial machine, but more than passable for a home coffee.

disappointingly troublesome machine
Trouble with machine since new as it would not work properly until I purchased a new grinder and sunbeam sent me double walled baskets. After 3 months milk temperature dropped by 10 plus degrees and machine sent away for nearly 1 month and a new thermobloc unit fitted. Machine temperature worked well for another 3 months before the same fault of milk temperature occurred and i went through a proceedure advised by sunbeam which seemed to work but alas only once and machine is now giving 10 to 12 degrees under temperature milk as against an indep...Read more
endent gauge. I repeated this proceedure 2 times but temperature still not up to where it should be. I have to heat the milk by coffee machines gauge to between 75 and 80 degrees to get a hot coffee at 65 degrees by my independent gauge. I'm pretty fed up with this machine and would not recommend it. When it worked it was good but for the money it's just not good enough. My old cheap no frills machine worked faultlessly for 10 years before I decided to get a better (?) machine which turns out to be problematic.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great tasting coffee
The EM7000 makes great coffee but be prepared for a learning curve. I was very frustrated with it at first because the coffee produced depends a lot on operator skill.
Now I have the grinding and tamping to the right level, I feel I get cafe quality coffee 95% of the time.
The coffee, I would say, is not quite hot enough but I steam my long black water and that fixes the temperature issue.
Great machine!

Limited & Frustrating
This machine is hard work. Totally sensitive to the level of coffee grind which means I have spent an absolute FORTUNE trying to find a coffee grind that agrees with this machine, so I can get a half decent coffee. Salesperson didn't warn me about this. At no point was I prepared for this annoying feature. My coffee grinder won't even grind to suit this machine. I refuse to buy a new grinder. Coffee is either too watery or the pump is working so hard to push coffee out I could do a load of washing waiting. I am not a coffee novice. I can make c...Read more
offee. Sunbeam sent me a double basket to apparently solve the problem...and I see through various other reviews this is happened to other people...so it's a problem with this machine if they have to send a double basket to make the machine function better. Coffee isn't very hot either and adjusting the temperature as per the manual instructs makes no difference whatsoever. I've been really patient I feel trying to adjust to this machine...even though I've got about 20 packets of coffee in my cupboard all useless to the EM7000!!! Sunbeam were very helpful right up until they sent the double basket and now they are not replying to my follow up emails. Now I'm very, very angry!2 comments

Good machine
We have had two of these machines over the past ten or so years and could not be happier. both machines were bought at the factory outlet and are(were) seconds. They cost about half of their retail cost.and both have worked almost perfectly. The only thing that doesn't seem to work properly is the pressure gauges. However, We never look at them anyway as they are not important if you know how to pack the coffee into the portafilter. It is important to have a fine grind and to fill the portafilter enough as to not leave a gap between the PF and the group head otherwise the high pressure from the pumps will force the water through too quickly resulting on a not so good coffee.

Great coffee, easy to use.
Lashed out and spent over $750 on this little beauty. It hasn’t missed a beat. I have it working 7 days a week. Easy to clean. I have only noticed just this week that the handle doesn’t come off as easy as it used to once the coffee has brewed. I have to jiggle it otherwise it can get stuck. Could be rubbers need replacing.. will contact sunbeam and see what they say. Otherwise pretty happy. Owned for about 18 months.

Quality home coffee machine
After getting out of bed in the morning the first thing is to turn on my EM7000 Coffee machine and get ready for a breakfast coffee.
The machine looks good and feels very solid - almost feels like a compact commercial machine. The controls need a bit of explanation so it is worth reading the instructions. Once you are familiar with how everything works it is straight forward to use.
The coffee pressure gauge is useful as it helped refine the grind and quality of the coffee pour. A quality grinder is required to get the best out of th...Read more
e machine with a fine grind needed for operation. The milk temperature gauge is useful but the recommended range always seems too hot. Frothing the milk also takes a while to get used to even if you are experienced at it. With a bit of practice I found I could reliably produce a quality coffee comparable to a cafe quality. The heat mechanism also enables you to pour the coffee and froth the milk straight after. The machine does enable coffees to be made in quick succession suitable for home entertaining. Filling the water reserve and cleaning the drip tray are simple and easily completed. Very happy with the reliability, coffee quality and overall function of this machine. I would recommend it for anyone seeking a quality home coffee machine that will reliably produce great tasting coffee. Just spend a bit of time learning how to use the machine..Similar opinion? Sunbeam Cafe Series Espresso EM 7000
If you want a great competitively priced coffee machine you cant go past the Sunbeam EM 7000.
The Sunbeam brand is a household name in Australia for appliances and one can see why.
They are well made, great looking and last for ages.
The EM 7000 is just another appliance testifying to Sunbeam quality. Not only that you get a great coffee out of this machine whatever your favourite cup.So many of my friends who have also purchased an EM 7000 can't be wrong.

Had to return 2 of these machines
I was quite happy with this machine at first. Coffee was great and the milk frother worked well too. Standby noise was quite annoying, but overall the machine performed as it should, for this sort of money.
However it started leaking around the group head after 3 months and we realised that the seal needed replacing. Sunbeam immediately agreed that the machine should be replaced. We got a replacement machine but the second machine had a faulty pressure gauge. So we returned it as well, the day after getting it, and decided to go another brand instead.

My 3rd Sunbeam Cafe Series, love them!
These are great machines. There is a bit to learn in order to produce great coffee, and you need to be patient. I would also suggest having a good grinder as the grind of the coffee is quite important. With this machine you are able to pour your shot and texture the milk at the same time, this makes the process much quicker. The milk steamer is not commercial grade, but pretty close in my opinion. All in all a great semi automatic coffee machine.

Never buy coffee away from home again
I love the Sunbeam coffee machines, they seem to get the balalnce right beween price, functionality, product quality and of course the best-tasting coffee.I have previously owned the Cafe series, apart from replacing a seal around the head, afer 6 years I have passed this onto my son at Uni, where he has an orderly queue of fellow students waiting for their morning shots!. The twin tank design ensures the steam is maintained at a constant pressure resulting in the best foamy milk you have ever tasted, its quite easy, with a little practice, to ...Read more
get the frothed milk perfect, works just as well with Almond and Soya milk, and of couse makes the best hot chocolate. This machine makes approx 60 coffees a week, as we have no shortage of friends popping in for a realy good coffee. Its handy to be able to increasse the 'dose' by fitting the two cup inner filter into the group head, makes a realy powerful mug that keeps you going untill the next one. Have tried the capsules, in the office, they just dont have the same flavour, paricularly if you are fussy in buying the 100% Arabica beans, which I oonly buy on specials from Coles and Woolies.Overall very happy with Sunbeam Coffee machines, this is my second in 10 years.Similar opinion? Good Coffee At a reasonable price .
We used to have a $1600 Saeco one button coffee machine which lasted about 5 years before it died, so that's what I can compare it to .
The coffee tastes better . Its a lot more work than simply pressing a button and getting a coffee but it's better coffee . I'm sure this machine is no harder than any other manual machine to clean etc but it simply can't compete in the lazy me stakes .
To be honest I was happier with the one touch as I found the coffee adequate but I'm not 100% sure I could go back now . Well played Sunbeam, Well played .

The first coffee was perfect but.....
We have used a base model Sunbeam coffee maker for in excess of 10 years and we have been happy with its performance. We knew it wouldn't last so some months ago started researching what next. Poor old girl finally died last week and we came to the conclusion that the Sunbeam EM7000 was the one. They have brought out a later model the EM7100 which comes with a capsule option but we didn't want to pay more for something we were highly unlikely to use. We made our first coffee....heaven. Wondered why we had waited so long. THEN every coffee...Read more
after that was a dud. Couldn't get the crema happening and the guage would not register anything. Asked a neighbour to freshly grind some coffee because the instructions say if the water is coming through too fast use a finer grind. We hadn't splurged on a coffee grinder at this stage. This coffee was better and the guage registered but still a way to go so we decided to buy a coffee grinder....Sunbeam 480. Before we did though we made a second coffee on the neighbours identical grind....nothing. The guage again didn't register and the water came through too fast. Ground our own coffee with our new 480 on 12 and tried again, nothing. So did a very fine grind on 5 (7 below the minimum the grinder recommends) but that didn't work either. Called Sunbeam who suggested a few things which we had already tried and they said they would send out the double filter basket and that should sort it. This will arrive next week, otherwise we are so far reasonably impressed. They say practice makes perfect but I have been making coffee for 10 or more years so not sure how much practice I need but this is a totaly different machine than what we had so I am willing to give it a try and see how it goes.Similar opinion? A good reliable coffee machine
Once you get the grinding of the beans right, and using good quality coffee, it makes the perfect cup.
The pour indicator gauge clearly shows if you have the right pour (ie if you've packed the ground beans correctly).
It's reasonably easy to use & clean.
The milk frother is excellent due to the temperature bar.
Sunbeam's customer service via phone was very good when we had a few problems initially.

Hi,
I bought this just over a week ago, upgraded from the minni barista.
I don’t think the pressure is working in the machine. The pressure gauge does not move when pulling shots (I have played around with grind size and amount of coffee in a double shot). We are getting no creamer either.
Could this be faulty?
2 answers
The pressure pump in my unit broke at the neck and had to be replaced. As your unit is only a week old it should be covered by warranty. The machine makes great cappuccinos.
Start with freshly ground beans. If your beans are old, no amount of fine grinding will save them. The grind size should be fine for espresso coffee. The degree is fineness required fluctuates during the day, so play around with this. Pack the ground beans tightly into the basket. If the grind is not fine enough the water will go straight through without registering on the dial. Does the machine pump water for a black coffee (tap on rhs of the machine)? If not there is a problem.

I have lost the rubber blind filter... can i use a commercial one? I can borrow one from my work

i never got one in my box when i bought it new but a commercial metal blink filter does fit in the group heads, just like the VST baskets fit in them.
