Hard work!!!
Brand new today....this is our 5th machine for work & home. Very hard to get it right, the instructions with regard to the tamping etc are not very good/accurate. Used fine ground to the top & was too much to close the group handle....too little & it poured out? Turned the water dial on & the hot water was pumped out the group head? Is this a normal fault or have I done something wrong?
Our new Breville Barista Express makes better coffee & you do not have to be 'spot on' with the tamping, amount of coffee or size of grind. Similar price in NZ....best to wait until they are on special!

Love it
This is my second cafe machine. I just upgraded to this after having the previous model for 6 years before it conked out.
I love it! Always perfectly extracted coffee and froths heaps. The older stainless steel jug is way better than what comes with this model as it was larger. This jug in EM700 way to small for two cups and froths all way to top about to spill when it hasn't reached 65 deg yet. The actual machine is great. All my family and friends love coming over as it makes a better coffee than nearly all cafes we go to including very pric...Read more

Very disappointing
We brought this machine only to find it leaked. Sunbeam replaced with a brand new one, had that for a week and had to return that as well. This time it was the coffee pressure pump. We spent more time returning the machine than making coffee! On the up side Sunbeam were fantastic as were The Good Guys who were more than happy to refund our money.

Best coffee machine I ever had
I bought this machine 2 years ago. I make about 4 double shot espresso every day. This machine is great. It took me some time to find the right beans but it was worth it. After 2 years it still makes excellent espresso with beautiful rich creama. Highly recommended if you like nothing but cafe quality espresso. Although cannot comment on quality of milk texurising as I never make milk coffees.

If only it outlasted it's warranty period!!!
I've had two Sunbeam EM 7000 espresso machines in a little under two years. The steam wand failed after less than twelve months and after calling Sunbeam was happy that I was able to take it back to Myer for a full replacement. I was completely happy with the machine until this happened. The second machine was well looked after, as was the first. I cleaned and de-scaled as recommended and have always used filtered water all the time. Two weeks after the twelve month warranty ran out on the second machine, the steam wand failed again! I couldn...Read more
't believe it! I rang Sunbeam who I must say we're quite abrupt on the phone and advised me to use my extended warranty. Having been overseas on holiday for four weeks of that year, and away for a further week during the year, I had not even had a full twelve months wear on this current machine. Very disappointing. After an email and many phone calls to Myer Customer Service (who have been fantastic), it looks like I will be able to get a refund or exchange machine again thanks to the Australuan statutory warranty laws. Do I really want to go down this track Sunbeam? I have completely lost faith in your product.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Makes a top cup of coffee every time!
Why do I love my EM7000? It makes the same cup of hot, full flavoured coffee time after time! Why? The coffee pressure gauge ensures the correct pressure; the temperature gauge ensures the correct temperature. It is easy to maintain, but clean it regularly and clean your coffee grinder regularly too otherwise problems with the grind can develop. And heat the milk to 70 degrees as there is a lag between gauge and actual temperature. I had been continually disappointed by home made brewed coffee until I tasted coffee from this machine.

Three years coming up this month. The EM700 just keeps pumping out great coffee. It has only received normal maintenance and cleaning and has required nothing else to be done to it.
Five years on and the EM7000 is making the same excellent coffee that we look forward to every day. No problems in this time. Easy on the pocket too. Two cups for two people per day of home made coffe... Read more

Part II
Well after 12 months I can say it is even worse than I originally thought. The 'stainless steel' has rust spots everywhere. And the despite de-scaling when recommended, the alloy parts in the coffee outlet have all gummed up inside. Dismantled the unit again, cleaned and re-assembled and using demineralised water now. I should have gone back to Kitchen Aid. Never a problem in 15 years. The Sunbeam is probably the worst purchases I have made in many years

Excellent product, included accessories let it down
Let me say upfront that this is a superb machine, however most people who buy it unfortunately won't realise its potential due to the poor quality accessories it ships with. The included tamper, I'm not going to say it's impossible because I'm sure some people can make it happen however it is at best extremely difficult to make a decent shot with this. I switched to one of these soon after I started using my machine (experience from another machine) and the difference is chalk and cheese. Also the included filter basket works okay, but it is no...Read more
t up to the job of making high quality espresso. I started using an 18g VST basket and now I get thick goopy extractions and a thick layer of crema. I think if Sunbeam spent the effort on the last 5% and provided these quality accessories (pricey but absolutely necessary in my opinion) then all their customers would see what a great machine this can be.Similar opinion? Great while it worked
I really liked this machine when I bought it about a year and a half ago and it cost a small fortune but the steamer arm stopped working just after the end of warranty . It now sits in the cupboard taking space because many dont want to fix coffee machines. I did do the maintenance thing and the flushing thing but the steamer arm just pumps out cold water now . For the price i paid (around $800) I definitely expected it to last more than one year

Service was not good
I rang Sunbeam about the thermo block not working (the water was cold). The machine was 16 months old.
The woman was not helpful at all and told me she could do nothing.
I took the Machine to a local appliance man and he confirmed the thermo block was gone.
I rang Sunbeam again, this time "parts" and the guy there asked me why I was fixing it myself and the guy said that was no good and he would fix it under warranty even though it was out of warranty.
Moto is don't rely on the help desk, try to go higher.
All fixed now but I did have to pay my guy something thanks to the very unhelpful girl on the help line.
Alls well that end well I suppose.

Absolute coffee lover but finding it tricky to learn
After much research, I settled on buying the EM7000, and for the first couple of cups, was pretty happy with the results. I have had a lot of problems with it leaking around the group head though. I have tried less grind, more grind, finer grind, less tamping, more tamping, firmer seal, less firm.... I ended up taking it back to good guys after an email and two phone calls to sunbeam to try to fix the issue. Sunbeam have replaced it -two days ago, and now it is leaking again.
I am really frustrated! I know this machine is supposed to make ...Read more

Great value for money
I have just had my EM6910 replaced by Sunbeam under warranty with a new EM7000. Sunbeam customer service was great and the persons there were very accommodating. The machine itself is nicer to look at and better to use than the EM6910. With a decent grinder and fresh beans you can make an excellent coffee with this machine. It represents excellent value for money for a machine that you can make coffee and texture milk at the same time. For the money I would highly recommend this machine.

it makes at least two double shots every day, often it is double that. I clean my machine more than recommended do the daily clean after each time I use it using the group head disk and a small brush which takes less than a minute. With a small amount of knowledge the quality of the coffee it produces is still great as well. I will post an update again down the track.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible Customer Service
I rang twice today (15/9/14) and spoke to two different people. After being on hold for 10 minutes each time I explained that the pressure gauge on my machine wasn't working properly.
The first person told me to put the cleaning disc in to the single sup filter and press manual and the gauge should go to the orange section, when I got home from work I attempted this and the first time the gauge went to the white section and the second time it didn't move at all.
I then called the customer service centre again and spoke with someone di...Read more
fferent, he told me to do the same thing with the double filter and this time the gauge moved to the edge of the white and green. I tried to explain another issue with programming but neither person was interested. When I was talking to the second person I was cut off, I tried to call back immediately but I got the after hours message as it was 5pm (EST) and 3pm in WA, basically I got cut off mid sentence because it was knock off time.Similar opinion? I recently purchased my EM 7000. My first few attempts were frustrating, but the problem was me as my grind and tamping were off. Day 2, and hey! fantastic results. I am very impressed with this machine. I also purchased a Sunbeam grinder a perfect couple. My last machine was a Krups please do not waste your money, buying one.
Very user friendly, easy to fill with large reservoir, which is yet another bonus, good froth can be achieved.
I've not had my machine long enough to encounter any 'cons' however I can't sees this happening.

Wonderful machine
Had trouble in the beginning since this was new for me, after several attempts can finally make a great expresso. Had a Nespresso machine before purchasing this and I can say it was worth it. Coffee is great, steamer works great what more can I say!! I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone looking for a new coffeemaker.

Bloody good machine for espresso.
After using a Sunbeam EM6910 for 15 months I upgraded to the Sunbeam EM7000. In that 15 months I learned a LOT about making coffee and recently have started branching out into a variety of beans. (my usual is dark roasteds from my local roaster in Bendigo)
I use Sunbeam EM0480 grinders - I used to have an EM0450 & an EM0480 but the 450 went with my EM6910 to a new home - now I have 3 x EM0480 grinders. 1 set for my dark roast beans, 1 for my 'experiments' and 1 set for the decaf for the missus.
The EM7000 is, like the EM6910, a twin-pump,...Read more
twin thermoblock machine. The water pump and the steam pump push water through stainless-steel-lined masses of brass, ensuring a constant, simultaneous flow of both and a very good maintenance of temperature, even for multiple coffees. (so you can make coffee AND steam your milk at the same time) A 3L water tank means you can make a lot of coffee before a refill is needed and you can refill from the top - no need to remove the tank. A beep and flashing LED tell you when it is time to fill. I use reverse-osmosis water only, and would recommend to always use filtered water. There is a scale filter in the tank (which can be renewed by soaking it in salt water) but it's pretty basic - given the decline in water quality with all kinds of chemicals being added these days, a long life for the machine requires removing most of the contaminants.1 comment

Really good coffee maker but read this first
This coffee maker is excellent but you NEED TO BUY THE DUAL FLOOR BASKETS/STRAINER/CUP or else the coffee will be brown water without crema. This is the same with the previous model which I also loved. As long as you have these dual floor baskets which create the pressure you need your'e coffee will be perfect. Of course if you want to purchase a grinder then you can fiddle around and get the right grind, which will need to be quite fine...but I've dabbled in all of that and just prefer now not to bother and be able to purchase pre-ground coffe...Read more

6910) and got quite a few leak issues. Then I reduced the dose to about 5mm below the rim of the basket and VOILA! my leaks stopped. Dual floor baskets fake the crema - the coffee comes through the many holes in the inside bottom of the basket then gets pressure-squeezed through a single hole to create fake crema. It's MUCH better to get a grinder and grind fresh beans before each cup - little extra work but MUCH better results.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Coffee Maker
I've had EM700 and the EM0480 grinder for some months now and absolutely love them. The machine hasn't missed a beat and is very easy to use and clean. I had an old Saeco machine prior to purchasing the EM700 and would never go back to a fully automatic machine.
Easy to use, makes a great coffee, customer service when needed were great. (wasn't a problem with the machine it was me)
Perhaps the steam wand being on the LHS however you get used to it.

Hi,
I bought this just over a week ago, upgraded from the minni barista.
I don’t think the pressure is working in the machine. The pressure gauge does not move when pulling shots (I have played around with grind size and amount of coffee in a double shot). We are getting no creamer either.
Could this be faulty?
2 answers
The pressure pump in my unit broke at the neck and had to be replaced. As your unit is only a week old it should be covered by warranty. The machine makes great cappuccinos.
Start with freshly ground beans. If your beans are old, no amount of fine grinding will save them. The grind size should be fine for espresso coffee. The degree is fineness required fluctuates during the day, so play around with this. Pack the ground beans tightly into the basket. If the grind is not fine enough the water will go straight through without registering on the dial. Does the machine pump water for a black coffee (tap on rhs of the machine)? If not there is a problem.

I have lost the rubber blind filter... can i use a commercial one? I can borrow one from my work

i never got one in my box when i bought it new but a commercial metal blink filter does fit in the group heads, just like the VST baskets fit in them.
