Makes delicious casseroles, meat very tender
I've had my HP3520 for 2 yrs and I make casseroles using 1kg of meat and vegetables. It's extremely easy to use and easy to clean. You still have to brown the meat first if you want extra flavour but I've had recipes where you just put the raw meat in with all the other ingredients. Once the meat is browned in the frying pan, just put it in the slow cooker along with all the other ingredients (booklet recommends putting vegetables in the bottom and meat on top). You can cook it on Low for 6-8 hrs or High for 3-4 hours and the results are di...Read more
vine - beautiful flavour and meat (gravy beef, chuck steak) that melts in your mouth - yum! The ceramic crock that contains the food is easy to clean, you just use a bit of elbow grease to remove baked on residue. The glass lid is clear so you can see the contents and there is no noise at all whilst cooking. If you want to cook more than 1kg of meat with vegetables, you may need a larger slow cooker. Makes the best casseroles from cheaper cuts of meat, loads of flavour, easy to use and clean. Ideal for small families.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my slow cooker
This is my first slow cooker and found your reviews very helpful and bought a Sunbeam HP5520. I am using it frequently and it is cooking rabbit, turkey drumsticks, chicken and everything else perfectly. It is a real slow cooker and I often have it cooking for upto 11 hours.
I like the long cooking time, no food has burnt yet.
The pot needs to be cleaned well

Hello Pier,
Yes it is a Lead-free glaze on ceramic pot and during standard testing the levels of lead & cadmium are negligible and meet American FDA standards.

Most Important: Is the Ceramic Coating Lead and Cadmium FREE in the Sunbeam Slow Cookers?
Slow Cooking can be Healthier for us (the Celsius being lower than a Gas Stove) but it becomes TOXIC when Lead and/or Cadmium are used in the glaze that coats the Ceramic Bowl OR Nasty Tephlon is used. Stainless Steel would be great - it's Good to have Options.
In the interest of Good Information Practices and Good Health, companies should always state on the package and advertisements if Ceramic Bowls, Oven Dishes, Cups and Plates are Lead and Cadmium FREE. This is a must in manufacture and buying practice for consumers. I have Oven Casserole Ceramic Dishes from a company overseas that openly state this Vital Info on the products. (Researcher 20+ Yrs)

I do not know. At the same time I am old enough for it to be irrelevant.

Hi Janetau. All of Sunbeam's slow cooker inserts meet the necessary requirements.
@Customer C. That is fine for you to just say that, though it needs to be backed up with verifiable test reports supplied to the customer. I asked for the documented test reports and was told they aren't available.
