Very disappointed.
This machine is useless, we have had it for 4 years and my wife never had a success with it. I used it for the first time last night and found the reason. I can fit my fingers between the beaters and the bottom of the bowl so the ingredients there don't get mixed in. Ours is going in the next council collection.

This doesn't do anything
What a piece of crap! Can hand mix better. Waste of money!! I tried to beat cream and had to use a hand mixer. Paid $170 for this thing. Should have read the reviews first. Not sure how I can write more words for something that does nothing! It's easier if it was a good product.

Won't cream butter and sugar
I thought it might just be me so am relieved to read that someone else has this problem with this wretched machine. I was given it as a give about 4 years ago and have never found it to be useful ............more like useless. Every so often I relent and try again but last night was the final straw I wanted to make a chocolate sponge and the first attempt was a flop so I tried again and the second was just as bad. I am going to put this out for the next council rubbish collection.

If I purchase another Sunbeam I won't get the same model again.....as the old saying goes "once bitten, twice shy". I do appreciate your response though.

Great compromise between a stand and hand mixer
I am VERY surprised at the number of negative reviews - I've had mine at least 3 years and it has been a perfect compact machine. No overheating issues, no straining. I use it to whip cream, egg whites for meringues, cake mixes, and bread kneading. Fast, easy to use, easy to clean.

It's a good little mixer.
I've had my mixer for at least two years and it's worked so well that I'm a bit surprised by how many negative reviews this has received. If I had read them before purchasing, I would have chosen a different brand or model!
I bought this (on sale at Target) to replace a cheap hand-held mixer that only lasted two uses, which in turn had replaced a hand-held Breville mixer that worked beautifully for over 10 years before calling it a day.
I was a bit apprehensive, but bought it as it seemed a good mid-point between a true hand-held mixer and s...Read more

Useless machine
I am only giving this mixmaster one star because I am not able to give it zero! Where do I start - beaters do not reach the bottom so constantly have to stir and still end up with sugar on the bottom of the bowl. Beat egg whites for 7 or 8 minutes and the unit starts to get VERY hot and I get a very strong electrical smell. I took the beater off the stand the other day and there was soot around the air vents. In speeds 2, 3 and 4, the motor "screams" ear piercingly. It doesn't even cope with beating butter and sugar together or even whippe...Read more
d cream towards the end when it is thick already. An absolute waste of time and money and I will never buy Sunbeam again because when I called Sunbeam (the product had just come out of warranty and I didn't realise it because I used it so infrequently), I was told by the customer service person that that is how the mixer worked, it's all normal - no fault and they were going to do nothing about it. It's great how such a large company like Sunbeam do not stand behind their products. I would be recalling this one with my head down in shame. Thanks for taking my money, supplying me with a useless mixer, not standing by your product and also doing nothing about a product that could potentially cause a fire. Thanks again Sunbeam!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Save your money
The first one lasted 5 months then it started smelling like an electrical fire. Got it replaced and then exactly the same thing happened again within a few days. Sunbeam said the electrical burning smell was normal for a new unit "they all do it". Making the food smell of electrical burning is not a good taste and is not acceptable. We asked the rep about the bad reviews he said "people don't give good reviews". He was happy for us to return it for a replacement, which a replacement was not good enough. We got a refund.

RUBBISH - CAUSING FIRE HAZARDS
Bought this product on Myer Melbourne. Soon after the mixer started beating .. the smoke and fire started coming out from the back of the mixer. It smelt very bad and almost burnt my arm because I was actually holding this mixer!!!! Luckily, it didn't burn my kitchen. NEVER BUY SUNBEAM PRODUCT again!! Any retailers in Australia must stop selling this Sunbeam Mixmaster Compact Pro

You'll need ear plugs!
This is a very noisy appliance. In fact, had I known it would be this noisy, I would not have purchased it from Harvey Norman. I won't be buying another Sunbeam product. I have to wear ear plugs while I'm using it, a high-pitched scream emits from the machine and others leave the room, fingers in ears. It has only been used 4 times - perhaps that will be all it will ever see.
My recommendation as a buyer - run a mile if you see one and if you have one, PLEASE use ear plugs, this thing may damage your hearing. I wish they would take it back and refund my money. Hard learned lesson indeed.

Will never buy Sunbeam again
This is the second sunbeam mixer I have purchased that has only just lasted till the warranty expired and they were only used infrequently.
This last one the bowl stopped turning & smoke started coming out of the appliance.
The mixer before this one burnt out and this one was a $500 mixer that I only ever made cakes with, no heavy doughs or anything.
Absolutely disgusted with sunbeam & feel ripped off. Will NEVER buy sunbeam again

Disappointing
After years of having used just a hand beater I decided to go up a level on purchase stand mixer. Well I may as well just bought another hand mixer. This product is useless, could not even cream soft butter and sugar!!!!. I purchased it in June and have just used it for the second time. I'm going to return it to the place of purchase and hopefully get a refund......very disappointing.
It made a good hand beater.
Is useless as a stand beater, which is what I wanted.

Base not rotating - Poor Quality material used
Machine is only 1.5 years old. used less than 5 times. The base wont rotate anymore. I opened the machine and found the plastic cog wheel totally worn off by the metal part spinning it.
I wished I had read reviews before buying this machine. It seems I am not the only one with this issue.
First time buying a sunbeam - and probably my last
design was appealing
noisy, beaters dont reach the bottom, plastic cog driven by metal part = extremely fast wear out

Dissapointing
I have always brought sunbeam products as if something goes wrong they have ALWAYS supported their product in the past - no so anymore - i have this same mixer - use it infrequently hence it is outside of warranty - same problem as reported by others - bowl no longer turns - Sunbeam surprisingly - as this has NEVER been my experience with them before - dont want to know
light and compact - perfect for the infrequent baker
unreliable and not backed by the manufacturer - which I remain suprised about

Will never buy a Sunbeam product again!
Purchased the mixer and used it firstly to mix two cakes. It was put away for quite some time and not used again until one month after the guarantee period of 12 months had expired. Then, during it's use for the third time only, the bowl turntable ceased to rotate. This was because, after inspection, it was evident that the plastic gearing driving the bowl turntable had stripped it's thread.
Cost $95 - total use about 25 mins. Cheaper to buy a new mixer (which definitely won't be happening) than to get it repaired.....

Disappointing
My biggest problem with this appliance is the the fact that the beaters don't touch the bottom of the bowl rendering it almost completely useless. Instead of saving time by creaming my butter and sugar for cakes it actually took me time having to stand over and continually scrape the mixture in order to make it bulky enough for the beaters to grab a purchase. My cake therefore ended up dense and lumpy due to the fact it then had to be over beaten in order to compensate for the beaters. Back to the hand beaters and wooden spoon for me. What a complete waste of money.
The 3 speeds were heplful
Beaters need to touch the bottom of the bowl in order for it to be of any use.

Mixmaster Disaster
I used this mixmaster every couple of weeks to make Banana bread and icing mostly. This morning one of the beaters snapped, and all I was mixing was bananas, sugar, vanilla and egg!! I called Sunbeam Canada only to be referred to a useless dealer here that informed me he wouldn't look at it unless I had a receipt. This was a gift that was purchased for me last Christmas (not even a year ago). Good as a hand held mixer!
The whisks simply do not touch the bottom of the bowl which makes the stand useless when mixing eggwhites or a tub of cream or cake batter which are really the only things i wanted it for. Have minimal space in my little kitchen to store it so ended up chucking the stand out (poor landfill!) and keeping the bowl and mixer which work fine when holding it in your hand, totally defeating the purpose of a stand mixer but oh well you live and learn!

don't bother
It doesn't cream sugar and butter. It doesn't beat egg whites to become stiff. What's it for?
I had a big Mixmaster but this one isn't suitable for anything more than you can do with a wooden spoon. The advantages of size and lightness do not make up for it not doing what I bought it for. Trash.

I have a mixmaster compact pro 5950 bought about 18 months ago. Tried using it this week and beaters/ hooks are not rotating even though the bowl definitely is. There is also a very strong electrical odour eminating from it. I purchased it from my local Myers store in Chatswood. Any suggestions on the problem?
