why isn't the bowl turning?

I feel this machine would work better if it had larger beaters that reach the bottom and sides of the bowl can you buy bigger beaters for this model?

I have a mixmaster compact pro 5950 bought about 18 months ago. Tried using it this week and beaters/ hooks are not rotating even though the bowl definitely is. There is also a very strong electrical odour eminating from it. I purchased it from my local Myers store in Chatswood. Any suggestions on the problem?

I recall that there is a left and right dough beater, one marked red & one un marked. Not sure about the standard beaters. try reversing them or a shake ansd a twist?
