Good product but not heavy duty enough for me
I have owned this product for a couple of years, and it is used about twice a week. It does a good job but is starting to sound a bit 'tired'. It is very easy to use and fits neatly in my kitchen cupboard. I would not recommend it for heavy use.
Easy to use, inexpensive
Has started to sound a bit tired after a couple of years use. Hopefully it will keep going for a while longer!

Great for price
I use this mixer infrequently, and have found it excellent for what I use it for. I like that it is free standing but that I also have the option to use as a hand mixer. It is attractive, but would be nice if it came in a range of colours
Attractive, freestanding, inexpensive
Noisy, needs different size bowls

Can't live without it!
My Sunbeam MixMaster is so far my favourite appliance in my kitchen. It has a twin motor and has a three way beating action....this helps the mixture to be evenly mix and quick. I had an old cheap brand before this, what a mistake...there is nothing like quality. Most of my appliances are Sunbeam, they are truly quality plus!
It runs smoothly and with ease.

Steer clear of Sunbeam Mixmaster
Mixmasters are not what they use to be. I have a vintage Mixmaster which was my Nan's that must be more than 50 years old, and it still runs like a trooper although it's more of a museum piece now. I bought a new Sunbeam Mixmaster just over a year ago and it's already broken with infrequent use. The high/low button is broken rendering the mixer useless. Stay away from this product!! Will never never never buy Sunbeam again, I've had too many bad experiences from their cheap, poorly manufactured products, this being the latest example.
Was a good mixer while it lasted
12 months of use and it's broken just out of warranty period.

unexpected entertainment for friends & family when adding eggs
Bought this after deliberating for 35 years. Please DO NOT BUY!!!! learn from my experience. It is no longer funny to have free range organic eggs plopping out the other side when mixing. You have to use it as a hand beater to mix anything properly. Bowl too small. Have finally worked out that the rotating bowl is rotating in wrong direction, what a fault!!!
looked good, price seemed reasonable(nothing is reasonable when it has design issues.)
Cannot do basic mixes at even small quantities, mixture ascends up the beaters into motor, that cannot be good for the long term, unmixed mixture below beaters level.

Mixture ascending up means you mixed up the right and left mixer stick.

Substandard Construction
I have owned the machine for about 3 years but have done very little work with it. There was always an acrid smell coming from it under load but it mixed well. Last time I used it the bowl stopped turning so I pulled it apart and found that there was a metal cog driving a nylon cog and the nylon cog had been stripped by the metal one. Why on earth if you are producing a quality item would you mix the two materials when one is driving the other.
Inferior mechanical pieces

I have found the same problem..where can we buy a new one.

Hi Albas and Leisa, using the plastic cog with the metal cog gives better performance for noise reduction and specifically designed plastic for use on gearing. For spare parts please contact us on 1300 881 861.

Compact, light weight
I use it infrequently when I am baking cakes. I used to use a hand held mixer and so find this a lot easier to use. I find that it does not mix all the ingredients from the base of the metal mixing bowl an so I need to use a spatula to blend the ingredients. The bowl is too large to beat egg whites and so I use another hand held mixer. I would recommend this to the infrequent baker like myself but perhaps not for the serious pastry cook.
Compact; metal bowl; nice appearance.
Doesn't mix all the ingredients properly

Terrible
This product is not worth the cardboard packaging it came in. To add insult to injury, Harvey Norman refused a refund upon returning it after just a single (failed) use. They stated that if my wife wanted to whip cream, she should have purchased a BIGGER machine! Harvey Norman seems to ignore Consumer Protection Laws! As resource conscious people, we are pained by the fact that this is now destined for land fill. I wish I still had my grandmother's mixmaster - it's probably still going somewhere! Save your money, people - don't buy from Sunbeam...Read more
and don't support Harvey Norman. Save for a larger decent made piece of equipment that will actually last a generation! None that I can think of! Watched my wife and daughter try to whip cream for nearly an hour and a half. My wife then used our barmix to whip the cream in about 45 seconds!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sorry I bought it but it was the price I wanted to pay and I thought for that money I would get something relaible especially as I normally like Sunbeam products
Looks and size
It sadly doesn't mix well. I made a sponge in it but it was a flop as it wasn't beaten properly. I had an old Sunbeam mixer for years and loved it but am not so happy with this as i have to use my hand beater for pavs etc.

Great mixer can't believe I've lived without it!
Absolutely love my mixer. I love how the mixer can be used free standing or as a hand mixer. It's not too noisy and mixes, blends, beats and whisks beautifully. I was worried the bowl wasn't going to be big enough but it's design is deceiving and does the job fantastically.
Wouldn't be without it now!
Great product good price.

Very happy with it!
I received this as a gift, and it works fine so far. I've used it to make pancakes and pikelets, to whip cream, and I've made bread using the dough hooks. I didn't have any trouble with the mixture creeping up the beaters as other reviewers have mentioned, but I do use the plastic scraper to ensure it's mixing thoroughly.
I make bread dough using the lowest speed, and I was expecting problems (based on previous reviews) but the mixer has handled it fine every time. It's getting a good workout, as I generally make bread every other day.
Metal bowl, detachable hand mixer, affordable price
a little noisy

Cheap Chinese [censored word removed]. Don't touch it. Dosn't mix at the bottom of the bowl. Pretty useless

Now use it as a handheld
Use it for baking often. Wouldn't ever buy one again as every time I use the bottom part of the mixer it starts smelling like its going to catch on fire
good price. Works well as a handheld mixer
If I don't use it as a handheld it smells like its about to catch on fire. Will never buy again

Worst Sunbeam product ever purchased
Soon after I purchased the mixer the boost button on top broke. I returned the machine and received a replacement. Within a few months, that boost button broke! I could not replace it again or get a refund because the 12mth warranty is calculated from the original purchase date, NOT the date of the replacement - PLEASE NOTE!! I persevered with the mixer by using some blue tack to hold the boost button in position but it was hopeless. After almost starting an electrical fire with the mixer, I have now resigned myself to the fact that I waste...Read more
d my money totally on buying this product! I also found that the beaters did not reach the bottom of the bowl properly and so creaming was impossible unless you removed the mixer part and did it by hand. I, too, wish that I had read all the other reviews before purchase. I liked the idea of the removable mixer. A mixer that you can't use the mixer properly!!?? Poor overall design.Similar opinion? I'm off to buy a better mixer today!
I was excited when I opened the box of my Sunbeam mixer as it was my first ever mixer but upon testing out my standard recipes I found that I wasn't up to the challenge of making simple things like Banana Bread. When it is mixing a tougher mixture it can't handle it and the mixture will work itself around the beaters and up into the gears - very hard to clean and means I have to end up beating by hand. It also doesn't cream very well and can't only use VERY soft butter otherwise the butter stays in clumps. This is a good replacement for a hand ...Read more
beater if you want to do simple things like beat eggs or make packet cakes but if you want to make proper cakes from scratch I would reckon investing in a more heavy duty machine that will last you a lot longer than this little thing will. I'm out to buy a Breville Plantation Mixer today! Light, doesn't take up as much space in the cupboard as bigger machines Doesn't have enough power so it doesn't perform very well.Similar opinion? Don't buy!
So disappointed with this purchase. It takes so long to mix anything (cream about 15 minutes!)does not cream butter and sugar properly and egg whites don't go stiff - all the things I brought it for. Then one of the beaters broke and it was going to be $35 to get a replacement.
Oh and super noisy, don't want to be trying to whip the cream once your guests have arrived.
does not do what it is made for

OK
it is illegal in Australia not to provide spare parts, So if yours breaks ring sunbeam. We had this happen with our 5 year old bread maker which was used almost every day. Sunbeam made a vary good offer (without me mentioning the law (trade practises act)) for replacement and we gladly accepted. So if any product breaks dont take the word of the repairer, call sunbeam.

i am so disappointed with this item - was very happy with my old one but this one is rubbish!! wish I had read these reviews before i purchased!
reasonable price
i have to agree with all the negative comments. I wish i had read these comments before i bought the item. It doesnt mix properly, couldnt beat cream until i used it as a hand held beater, my cupcakes are heavy compared with the lovely light ones i normally make. i unfortunately bought this from Betta Electrical in Claremont and i only get a credit note that i have to use in three months. I should have bought it from Big W where they give a refund. Hopeless item!!!!

ture, the eggs are actually being thrown out the other side, unbeknownst to you. What a mess, what a waste of free range organic eggs. I have come to the conclusion that the bowl rotates in the wrong direction, if altered it would mix properly. I would not buy this ever again. I"m sending emails to all my contacts as well as my facebook, and shall show this on Youtube. This company is crazy to think the public will accept this as the norm.No 'reasonable price' could possibly warrant the issues this company has.(try ringing them and find out!)Similar opinion? Bad
I unfortunately was bought one of these machines as a present. Was looking for a replacement beater but have decided to save the money and look for a quality machine. Back to the old hand mixer for the time being, at least that has stood the test of time.
Last just over 12 months
Beater broke, beater holder broke and makes loud noise ever since. Cannot beat anything thick.

Was given as a present would never buy one and with the amount of cooking I do with my kids I will be looking else where!

It doesn't mix properly. I have to scratch the centre of the bowl out to ensure all ingredients are mixed. In doing this I have broken a beater when the plastic spatular got caught. I now can't locate where I can get spare beaters from!

I have a mixmaster compact pro 5950 bought about 18 months ago. Tried using it this week and beaters/ hooks are not rotating even though the bowl definitely is. There is also a very strong electrical odour eminating from it. I purchased it from my local Myers store in Chatswood. Any suggestions on the problem?
