Works well, except when it doesn't
I've had 2 of these now, both with the same problem as others seem to have had. Works well at first but after a while the heater just stops working. Both times that mine conked out, I had just done one perfect set of chips, then went to do the next batch and they just sat in the oil looking like a bunch of anemic soggy uncooked potatoes. Should have taken it back but couldn't be bothered a second time :(

Works perfectly.
I have had my Sunbeam MultiCooker Deep Fryer for some years now. Have used it for deep frying, stewing fruit, boiling vegetables and as a slow cooker to make stews and casseroles with cheap cuts of beef.
I have always been pleased with the results I achieve with this appliance.

Simple fryer that works
For the price, it does it's job. the steel basket is great in and out of the fryer. I love the detached handle.
It's fantastic when comes to cleaning, very easy. I know it can be used to stew, braise, stir fry, but I only use it for frying.
Easy to clean

It's Ok but there are better Options
If you want to deep fry things other than just chips, the rectangular shape ones are much better.
I bought the Deep Fryer about two years ago as I had some vouchers to spend at Myers. I was looking to buy a second deep fryer to compliment my Breville on so I could cook chips in one and other things that mess the oil up in the other one.
The Deep Fryer has worked very well during that time from an operational point but there are a couple of things that I don't like about it.
When you take the basket out of the oil and hang it on the si...Read more
de it sides on and angle allowing oil to drip off the back of the basket onto the bench top. You can't fit a shnitzle in the basket like my Breville. This became a problem when I was down to one Deep Fryers (separate review on Breville unit. With full basket and 2lts of oil the oil nearly boils over the side on the second cycle cooking chips before it settles down. This also causes oil to splash on the bench top. After two years of cooking chips only the none stick coating is flaking off the bottom. I have recently replaced both old Deep Fryers with two new ones. The Sunbeam has been placed in storage in case it's needed again one day. Only uses 2lt's of Oil and can be washed in the Dishwasher Method for hanging baskets drips Oil outside the unitSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Excellent
it is perfect. I have used it deep frying, made a pumpkin soup, casserole and then once i finished cooking the casserole i just removed it from the electrical cord and took it straight to the table to serve. Fantastic. I love it.
sturdy base and easy cleaning

Soggy white chips anyone???
My friend and I both bought one of these together....me to replace a 30 year old Sunbeam deepfryer, she to replace a square sunbeam deepfryer. So we were experienced chip cookers!!
Neither of the new ones got hot enough to deepfry anything! They were utter rubbish. We checked the temps and they didn't get over 155c. Need at least 180 for chips...were supposed to get to 200+.
I might add that another friend has one that she is happy with. Sadly it is probably just a case of poor quality control, but it will put me off from buying oher sunbeam products.
Didn't get hot enough to do the job it is being sold for.
