Help!! Can anyone tell me please, if there should be a single hole in the base of each of the 1 and 2 cup filters?
Mine have no holes, yet I can't see anything in the instruction booklet about piercing the holes initially. Although in the 'Care and Cleaning' section, it states "Insert a pin into the single hole in the base of the filter".

Yes. There is a single hole in the exact centre of the base of each filter. It is below the words 1-Cup or 2-Cup.
You don't have to make the hole it is already there.

Thank you Boba. I was expecting the holes to be right through the filters, which is not the case. On closer inspection after reading your answer, I could see it clearer, They are like shallow holes!!!

Hi,,my son bought me the Sunbeam Picolo coffee machine in 2014,it's still going strong, makes a great cuppachino and froths the milk well too. It's just dripping a little water from the seal around the tamper, just wondering if i can get a replacement seal and put it in myself.

Yes you can.

I got one a couple weeks back from eBay, it was about $18 delivered. Just search for Sunbeam EM2800 coffee machine seal.

The hard part is getting the old one off. I used a precision flat-blade screwdriver, and made the change in under a minute.

Just be sure to clean the surface of the machine, under the seal. You will be surprised at how much coffee sneaks its way under there.

The steam pressure is not working. I turn it on and wait a few seconds and then the steam that’s built up expels through the machine. This is the second time I’ve bought this sunbeam piccolo machine because of its capability. And the second time I’ve had this issue, it’s only just outside of its 12 month warranty also. What can I do?

I usually turn my machine on about 10 minutes before I want to use it. It only takes about 30 seconds to warm up though. On my one, the steam can take a couple of cycles of the internal pump, then it gets going properly. Mine dumps the excess steam through the water outlet, once I turn the dial back to the top position.

Hopefully this description helps you.

It is apparently 48mm, but I find the tamp that comes with it a fraction too small.

Same here. 50 or 52mm would probably be better.

My EM2800 when turned on, will only display the orange light ..forever, and will not advance to green .
I have pulled apart, de scaled, cleaned every piece, to no avail . Also the steamer will only pulse for about 1 second
Could this be a switch problem ? or the heating element ?

Hello Clare,
Unfortunately, no the lip does not detach from the water reservoir but you can pull out the whole tank to help with cleaning. See page 7: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Root/Specifications/InstructionBooklet/EM2800_ib_2.pdf.pdf

Can this coffee maker (model EM2800) discharge HOT WATER?
I was looking at one in the shops today thinking of buying one because my other one, an EM3600 is about 5 years old. It still works great, but it's old and I fear it will soon stop working, so need one to replace it when the inevitable occurs. I found out that the EM3600 is now a discontinued model - no longer made.
Unlike my existing EM3600, this model EM2800 and the EM3820 I was looking at today, do not appear to have a 2 position steam / hot-water selector switch.
That switch allows you to discharge hot water (rather than just steam) through the steam wand, if it is selected to 'water' mode and obviously for steam if steam is selected.
It seems this EM2800 model and the EM3820 only allows one to discharge steam, with no hot-water option.
Is this correct? Or, is there some way you can get hot water out of these 'newer' but seemingly less versatile models that supposedly supersede the very good EM3600?
I downloaded the instruction manual for the EM2800 and it doesn't mention anything about hot water, so I assume it can't.

Hi Anthony,
No it does not have a hot water dispenser. You would have to run through the coffee part.

Thanks,
That's exactly what I expected. Looks like I'll have to find a brand that has not been downgraded and its manufacturer tries to convince us that the older model has been 'superseded' by an inferior, low performance product, yet retails for the same price as the earlier (much better) model.
Very disappointed in you Sunbeam.
I and my family have been using your (formerly) great products for as long as I can remember and Im now 61 years old.
That excellent EM3600 coffee maker was the last Sunbeam appliance I purchased and be rest assured, it will be the last Sunbeam product I will EVER buy.

Hi I really love my Sunbeam piccolo espresso machine but like a few other people have mentioned it constantly leaks water from the tank. It's like the seal between the tank and the machine doesn't work. I've tried removing and reinserting it and for a few days it will be fine but then it starts leaking again. Is there a way to stop this without having to take it back?

If it is still under Warranty and you have your receipt get it replaced.
I experienced problems with mine, (not your problems). I contacted Sunbeam and their after-sales service was excellent. They advised me to return it to the store and get it exchanged. No queries, no hassles, great service.

I wrote to you before about my problem. That problem did not go away still there. You wasnt very helpfull because you didnt believed or dont wanted to addmit that could be faulty design.
Why grouphandle creating such unplesant marks on the black plastic and also very bad stains on inside metal and black plastic part. You can only see it when removing that tiny little screw. No matter how I try it I can not remove it. It does put me off to make coffee because looks like mould. That problem was from very beggining. I do love my little machine, but I shouldnt be taking little screw off every 4-5 coffees. Im only the one who using the machine.

It could be faulty design but I don’t have same problem. If your seals are good but still leaking, take him back to retailer or call sunbeam customer service.
I do not get mould stain because I clean thoroughly after each use. Also I use filtered water to make my espresso. Hope this helps.

Unscrew handle where you put in coffee. It is little tiny screw which separates little black circle plastic part from metal. Scrub that off also metal round part need to be scrubed off (clean). Put back together and see how do you go. I honestly think that grouphandle was wrongly design. My machine need to be cleaned every 4-5 times after use. Look to me like some mould and black stains on the inside handle (you can see it when filter is removed. I can not to take off. Company wasnt very helpfull. Good luck Alby

Hi I have problem with my Sunbeam Piccolo Espresso EM2800. The pressure for espresso is working ok but not for the steamer. there is no pressure heat come out from the steam wand at all, so steamer stop working. What to do and how to fix it?

thanks

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Vita,
It may be that the steamer is blocked. Everytime we froth milk we need to wipe clean the whole frother wand to make sure there is no milk left to dry. I would also recommend giving the machine an internal clean. So use a descaling tablet or vinegar/water solution and run the machine completely through. This may help to unblock. If not give us a call on 1300 881 861 to assist further

Brand new machine does not draw any water makes all the noises but steam wand does not work and nothing comes out brewing head, have checked reservoir several times and am sure it is positioned correctly, what else could the problem be?

3 answers
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Deb.....maybe there is an airlock in the steam wand. All machines are tested after assembly but sometimes air can be drawn into the steam wand causing a small block. If you fill the water tank, switch the unit on, turn the steam on and leave it running for a minute or two this could clear it and the machine will be fine. If this doesn't work please give us a call on 1300 881 861 and we will be happy to help you further.
