Hi, I’m wondering what the cost of a replacement heating element is for the Sunbeam Bake & Grill please?

I've no idea I'm sorry but from experience a new product is often more realistic. We paid $95 for our oven. Sunbeam are helpful and would be able to assist.

Thanks Trish, thank you for your reply. I realise they are cheap to purchase. To throw away an element is ok, to throw away a whole unit because the upper element doesn't work seems bad to my minimalist soul. I will contact Sunbeam as per your suggestion, thank you.

Contact Sunbeam directly - it shouldn't be an issue in the first place, in my opinion. No problem with mine but it is new.

Hi just unpacked new Sunbeam BT5350 bench top oven and noticed gap on left hand side of the door i.e. door doesn't close snugly. This will result in significant heat loss. Is this a fault in manufacturing and should I return unit to the store?

Hi there, purchased the oven today and I'm just trying it out on Bake... the heat light is flickering on and off every 10 seconds and it has been doing for twenty minutes now, seems odd? Also, should the bottom elements on Bake be glowing like the top, as there is currently no orange glow at the bottom of the oven? Thanks.

Both top and bottom elements should be orange for bake. My top 2 elements stopped working after just 12 months use. Very disappointed in this product.

Hi Bridget P,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. The light should only come on and off when the thermostat drops temperature and reaches it again. Not usually every 10 seconds. Best to return this unit to the store of purchase for a replacement. Kind Regards, Sunbeam

About the timer. I thought I’d read somewhere that it had to be fully rotated then brought back to required time. Can’t find where I read it. I didn’t do that tonight and set timer at 30 mins and that’s where it stayed.

Page 6 point number 5 in the instructions says to rotate fully then return to the time you require.

It says it for toast but doesn’t for any other type of cooking. I was doing bake at the time.

I have never done this. I just put the timer onto the time I think I need to cook the food. Usually it's around the 30 minute mark, sometimes a bit more but it just counts down until it's finished, no problem.

Hi Luisa G,
The light would go on and off to keep the desired temperature but it shouldn't happen continually throughout cooking every 2 seconds. If it keeps up, please return to store...

Thank you for your reply. I have returned it to the store and got a new one. This one does it every 10-12 seconds throughout cooking when on bake but I guess it's normal.

I've just replaced my old Sunbeam Pizza Bake & Grill with a new one, and notice that the wattage is now 1400 instead of the old 1600, and also the bottom elements are now covered. I used my other one where possible instead of using the big oven, so need to know if the lower wattage and the covered elements will give me the same performance as the old one. The store assured me I wouldn't notice the lower wattage - I'm not so sure, especially with the now covered lower elements. Could you please advise. Thanks

Hi Rallie,
Thank you for your question. The bottom element covering is a safety shield and will not affect the heating or operation of your oven. The 1400 w still ensures fast heat up.

Thanks for your quick response and your reassurance. I really do hope this model is as reliable as my last one which I used everyday for 5 years without fault - cakes, slices, pizza, crumbed baked chicken, whatever - all perfectly cooked. It's demise was when it started tripping our electricity, and on reading the reviews on this site, found the problem to be warping of the top elements - one of which was tightly resting on the top of the (metal inside) of the oven. The bottom elements were not warped at all. Now hoping that the bottom elements in the new oven, because they now have a metal covering, will not meet the same fate in due course as the top ones in the old oven, and it'll be just as reliable as the old one, for another 5 years. :-)

Hi,
I have just purchased Pizza Bake and Grill BT5350. When I follow the instructions on toast the top is good but the bottom is underdone. It seems the heat is not distributed evenly?

Hi to toast top and bottom use the pizza setting in the wire rack, the Grill setting is just top element, won't cook bottom and Reheat is just like an oven bottom element only. Bake is top and bottom but doesn't get as hot as pizza. Just play around with settings when you've worked out what you use its simple.

We have the same problem with ours.. despite it being set on toast setting and on the hottest.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi PCW. When using the toast option make sure the wire rack is in the centre shelf and is in the 'sunken' position. If it is not sunken, the bread will be closer to the top element and will toast quicker.

The handle on my Sunbeam Pizza Bake & Grill oven BT5350 is getting loose. I cannot tighten the holding screws from the inside because the screws are behind the glass of the door. Any ideas?

Hi George L, Unfortunately this is not a part that can be repaired on the oven. Of course if the oven is under warranty you can return for a replacement.

Thank you for your reply. Nevertheless, I am dissatisfied with the blatant disregard with which the issue has been dismissed. The problem is obviously the result of faulty manufacturing that will render a perfectly working oven totally useless. I am disappointed with the attitude of Sunbeam in this instance and will have second thoughts when purchasing Sunbeam products in the future.

I purchased a Sunbeam Pizza Bake and Grill Oven today from Harvey Norman, Blenheim, New Zealand. When unwrapped, I found there is no hand book in the box. Does this model not have a book? I have purchased two earlier models over a number of years and am sure a book came with them.

You can download a digital copy of the handbook here. Not sure if links are allowed on ieatwords.com, but here you go. Two versions are available.

Most electronics you buy should usually include a operating guide. Probably a human error if they didn't include one.

Does the heating light keep going on and off when you when you want it to heat to 180.C? I just don't know when it has reached the temperature.

After a few minutes from cold start. When finished it will ring but if left unattended, let's say you fall asleep while watching TV, moisture condenses on glass door.

It's just a simple thermostat that you find in most home ovens. At a certain temp, it switches off the power (LED goes off) and the heating stops, and assuming the timer is still ticking, the oven will power back (LED is ON) on to reach the desired cooking temperature.
