Early days but very happy
I repowered my boat and went from a F60 Yamaha to the DF70A Suzuki. I was going to buy the F70 Yamaha but couldn't see the value considering the engine capacity was the same as the F60. I wanted more grunt for my heavy plate alloy boat so the 1.5 litre engine versas the Yamaha 1 litre sealed the deal. I love the limit switch setting on the tilt which stops the motor hitting any obstruction in the boat. It uses less fuel than the F60 and really jumps the hull out of the water. Being the lowest horsepower in the group means it is less stressed th...Read more
an the other 80 - 90 HP models with tons of torque. At 155Kg it is very light. These engines are not automotive or motorcycle engines adapted but a dedicated marine design. The engines have a 4 litre oil sump compared to the Yamaha 2 litres. The lean burn feature does not depend on an oxygen sensor but is mapped through the ECU so there is no sensor to fail and stop you out on the water. Ok now negatives. Noisier on the cruise than a Yamaha. Not offensive but a lower growl. I miss my Yamaha instrumentation. Suzuki need to upgrade from the old school analogue gauges and the hour meter through the tacho is a pain as I used to look at my digital hour meter and gauge out my fuel usage. The dealer had to drill another hole for the extra gauge. Suzuki even if they stay with analogue gauges should make a system which fits into the Yamaha twin gauge set up. Heaps of grunt. Light weight. Great economy. Compact compared to the F80 Yamaha. Love the tilt limit. Instrumentation could be better. Noisier on the cruise but not offensive2 comments

A beautiful engine. I have reduced my fuel consumption by about 20% over the old F60. Very happy at nearly 2 years old.
