2012 Suzuki swift sport - CVT (auto)
Current km - 42'000kms
From driving sports cars to then driving the Suzuki Swift Sport (SSS), fun fun fun car to drive. Great for city driving with smooth gear changes. Then slip it into the 'manual' mode, using the flappy paddles offers fast gear changes for having some fun. Just as fast at the manual on the twisty roads (from experience).
Quality is awesome, made in Japan.
Super light car, doesn't need more power. Engine loves to rev, feed it 98 octane fuel, (only need 95) but using the 98 makes fuel economy even better and response on the throttle is brilliant. Average 525km for a tank. Varied driving too.
Got (after market) roof racks for the SSS, chuck the bike on the roof, take it on the twisty roads, stays in place!

Perfect Hatchback
I bought this car in January 2013, it has been almost one year and I managed to drive 15,000KMS without a hick-up. I always used 98 Octane (Shell V-Power) and drives about 510-525KM for full tank (Combined). I've always wanted to buy a mini cooper but couldn't afford to buy at that time. But I've no regrets at all, Now I feel like Suzuki Swift Sport is the car that suits me most. I absolutely love the car inside and out. You get everything you need for 28K drive away. By the way I got the demo for 24K brand new (Demo KMS 34). Recently I had an ...Read more
accident (Not at fault), you know one of those people turn the indicators half way through their turn...Exactly I got one of those special category people ran into my lane. Long story short... As soon as she hit me I heard bang!!!! I was like seriously???? you don't just change the lanes like that. Where did you learn to drive? I got out of the car, looked at my car I was surprised to see just a tiny scratch on driver's side door panel. The other car's (VW Polo 2013) front bumper and mirror was completely damaged. I still have no idea what had happened to the other car to be in such a stage, I guess it's the build quality of Japanese vs German. Great little car, God engine loves to revs up. Price, Fuel efficiency, seats, reliable, build quality Exhaust doesn't sound as sporty as it looks. Engine noise is louder than exhaust.2 comments
I love this car but we're about to buy a car which is safe as family more for baby may be small or suv,not able to decide, I want to know is this car a noisy over time or because of ur accident ?
@Shalini, A hatchback is a perfect car for a small family of 4 (2Adults and 2 kids), plenty of storage in the boot that's enough for a small trip (avg 300Kms). For safety all the models in swift (GL,N... Read more
avigator, GLX, and Sport) comes with 7 airbags as standard. The wind noise I mentioned in my review is normal for a car at this price range (Not because of the accident), you get what you pay for. If you don't like the noise at all you should probably consider buying a higher end car (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc). Finally, Swift GL $16000 (Even lower if you are good at bargaining and willing to go for late models), Sport $25000-28000 (I've got mine for 25K because it was a demo and had 25KM on Spedo). Genius Little Car
This review is based on my experiences with three different Suzuki Swifts.
The first is a 2008 GA Auto, the second is based on a 2011 GL manual and the third is a 2013 GLX auto. Two are owned by colleagues and one is mine.
First impressions count - big time - and the little Swift gives a big first impression. Big in a number of ways. If you are new to this car, it is really important to sit in one and take one for a drive before you form an opinion. For me, my first feel of the car left me with a feeling of amazing space. Sitting in the dr...Read more
ivers seat, you are surrounded with air; lots of it. The designers appear to have gone to a lot of trouble to make the cab feel very spacious and roomy. There is more than enough room here for pretty much any sized driver and passenger and finding a comfortable position should be a snack for anyone. The rear leg room is rather restricted though but is still adequate to accommodate two adults in quite a bit of comfort. The front seats are generous in proportion and provide a well supported, but at the same time, comfortable ride. The seats are much better than you find in a Kia Rio or i20 and are very comparable with the excellent seats found in a Mazda 2. Top points to Mr. Suzuki here. Entry and exit to the vehicle are also important, especially for drivers who may be getting on in years a little. Here, the Suzuki scores highly. The upright doors open wide to allow entry to a seating position which is more like sitting in a chair rather than lying on a couch like most other vehicles. This upright seating gives heaps of legroom, floor space and is very comfortable. You can easily stretch out your legs and not run your feet into obstacles. The seating allows the car to be used as a comfy tourer. I have driven a Swift all around New Zealand and never felt cramped or uncomfortable at all. Getting out is as important as getting in, and all you have to do is simply step out of the car; you don't have to crawl like you do in so many other vehicles. Again, top points to Mr. Suzuki. Driving the Swift is a delight with its direct but light steering and compliant suspension which provides a surprising amount of grip on the road as well. The swift soaks up the terrible roads we have here in Australia without fuss and without getting jittery in mid corner situations. Very good. The steering is predictable and precise which makes it easy to have the car exactly where you want it on the road. Brakes are excellent (the low weight helps here) and the latest models are fitted with all the mod cons as far as electrical gadgetry go. In an average two car family, I bet the Suzuki gets chosen first. Manual transmission is smooth and easy to use with a light and positive clutch. Too many small cars have a wishy washy, no feel clutch which actually makes it difficult to drive. The old Getz clutch, for example, made the car very hard to drive well. No so with the Swift; easy, light and positive is the go here. The Auto swifts are also very well suited to our roads. If you read motoring journalists, they nearly all say that the Swift needs a better auto, a 6 speed or a DSG or something. These people are talking rubbish. The engine/transmission are very well mated and provide smooth and easy driving. Go drive an auto i20 if you want to know what a mis-match is! Fuel economy is probably not quite as good as you may expect. I'm not sure what Suzuki quote but it seems that around the city the auto gets something like 7 litres per hundred, which is not startling, and the manual gets a little better. Whilst this is alright, some very large European diesels are doing better than this, and provide quite a lot more power at the same time. Having said this, drive the Swift properly and you will not be at the pump all that often. The 1.4 litre engine does get better consumption than the 1.5 though.Similar opinion? Motor bike with 4 wheels
Bought this car in November 2012 and find This car is the zippiest funest car I have driven. It puts a smile on my face every time I get in. Not just me but all 4 members of my family who drive it.
My 28 yr old son even took it down to Sydney for 10 weeks and his comment was "For a girls car it is a lot of fun to drive"
Everyone in my family has a motor bike licence and as such really appreciate the handling, take off & cornering of this vehicle
Would definitely buy one again
Zippy Fast & handles well

Bought my swift in 2012 and it had a loud clunking/cracking noise. It happens when I hit 20km/hour after ignition. It won't happen again until I turn off the car and re-ignite again. I took it to service and they said it's a common thing with the auto testing of the ABS system. They also said it happens with every swift they have but honestly, this is just not convincing at all.
If this loud noise is a common thing (according to them), then I suggest you NOT to consider this car at all!
nice interior design

Suzuki Swift 2013 - GL - below is what happend to me
Suzuki Swift with the VIN number XXXXXXXXXX purchased new on 7/6/13. This was the 2nd Suzuki Swift we bought as we love the 1st one. Unfortunately since the day 1 I have noticed that when the vehicle changing the gears automatically it's not smooth and REV of the vehicle going up and down without the gear changed and this making whole driving experience horrible and also given the vehicle not changing gears properly it introducing safety concern when overtaking as vehicle not giving require torque as REV is increasing without gear change.

iven the above experience I called the dealer on 20/06/2013 (Preston Motors Epping) and he asked me to wait and bring the vehicle for a test drive. Then I took the vehicle for a test drive with Tip and he also confirmed that it got a problem and asked to book a service call when it's due for 1000 KM service. When I took the vehicle for 1000KM service on 17/07/2013 dealer said that they ordered a part and asked to bring the vehicle later. During this time they gave me a similar model replacement CAR for 2 days and I confirmed that above mentioned issue wasn't present. After 2 weeks dealer service manager Jason informed that someone from Suzuki want to take the car for a test drive and asked me to bring the car again and after the drive that person also confirmed that Suzuki received similar complaints from other dealers and they investigating the issue. Day by day / week by week and Month by month passed and I called the dealer every week Friday to get an update and every time I received the response "Waiting to hear from Suzuki Australia" and after 3 months I finally gave up calling them and called Suziki Australia directly and customer service manager (Irene Price) informed that this is the way vehicle designed and nothing they can do. This is very disappointed as I would like to 1) Fix the issue or 2) Replacement Vehicle or full refund as vehicle I purchased new on 7/6/13 do have a transmission issue and as per above 2 people (that I know of) confirmed this and now Suzuki not accepting this issue thinking they might need to recall all new Suzuki model with this transmission issue.2 comments

2012 GA swift
Gr8 car 650km for 34 litres around town, looks a bit girly, but fits me and mates no problem, sits on 110 on trips and have had 1ton of carpet squares in the rear with 260kg of people in front still did 110km for the 400km trip home. Ive done 45,000k in just over a year and could not be happier with the car or Nat caps in canberra that sold it to me. aftersales service was 1st class. handles dirt roads well exept the front bumper is a bit low and scrapes on gutters. LOVE it and will buy another when the time arrives and from national capital motors.
fuel economy, handeling, comfort.

Rough Ride!
This is my 2nd swift and unfortunately will be my last ! Drives well, but sits so rough at traffic lights drives me crazy! Taken it back 3 times until they have convinced me its the new smaller engine in the 2013 model. Feels like a 20 yr old VW when I'm stationary. Will never purchase a swift again !
Too rough in idle !

Change your petrol brand. Do not use shell
Yes, I agree with aboce comment. I found the fuel made a big differnce. I changed to the premium fuel and never had a problem after that. My vt commodore is the same as what my swift was, once i put the premium in, it never missed a beat since
The Swift was manufactured in Thailand from January this year and has now reverted back to Japan. There are problems with the autos and according to Suzuki Australia they all do it and won't fix it.

Great town car
Very good reliable car. Bought when 12 months old. Have now had for 5 years without problems. Very economical. Easy to park. Could do with a bit more power and a cruise control. Boot space limited. Apart from that a great car. Heaps of legroom and headroom for taller drivers.
Economical, easy to drive, reliable, heaps of legroom and headroom.
No cruise control, underpowered, limited cargo space, space saver wheel

About to buy my 2nd Swift
My company car was a black suzuki swift and what an awsome little car! With a sexy set of low profile tyres and chrome mags, wrapped in my companys purple logo this little car turned heads. Travelling the Bruce Highway 6 days a week and clocking up 1000km in any given week for 4 years, this car was awsome. Cruised at 100km no worries, handled well in a few of my near misses (oops) and what I could fit in that car was unbeleivable. Swift GLX 2013 - Zippy & Zwift
Thanks to previous comments & reviews by other Suzuki Swift drivers as they were a great help to me in my decision to choose the Swift :) as my next car. As I have been driving my new automatic transmission Thailand-built Swift GLX for only about a month, I cannot really comment on its reliability. For me interestingly, I felt that there was a greater fun factor on Swift GA/GL model than GLX during test drives which seem to be mostly due to different wheel sizes & tyre characteristics. However, I opted for GLX in the end due to its longer list ...Read more
of features to pacify my fussy creature comfort needs. Essentially, advantages or key differences of Swift GLX over the mid-Swift GL model : INTERIOR – front map lights, digital / automatic climate control, steering wheel telescopic & tilt opposed to tilt only, keyless start; EXTERIOR – front fog lights, rear disc brakes compared to drum brakes, alloy 16 inch wheels compared to steel 15 inch wheels; also note that since the wheel size (16 inch) is larger, GLX has a greater turning circle (easier to do U-turns if smaller or tighter turning circle) than GL which may be a slight disadvantage but that has not bothered me to date. My previous non-Suzuki car had 14 inch steel wheels and a history of numerous hub-cabs falling off through the years (occasionally not so mysteriously after going over a kerb in a roundabout). As alloy wheels are more malleable than steel wheels, I am extra careful not to damage GLX wheels & this would induce slight kerb-paranoia at times. Additionally found GLX ride slightly less comfortable or bit harsher than my previous car as greater transmission of any road imperfections and I believe that this is simply a consequence of the lower profile GLX tyres (on the upside, most people say are these are better looking) & not my driving! :) Having typed all of that it is true that some people drive influenced by their hearts and not their heads & I love my new GLX Swift despite insight of some of its little quirks & also other flaws listed below... for now. Hey, no-one is perfect & the same applies to cars. Good luck to the potential car buyer with your choice of car & hope some of this helps! :) stylish, economical, compact with resultant parking advantages, great features & safety elements, some limitations of 1.4 engine can be improved with premium unleaded which gives slightly better power / more “oomph”, dark colour interior scheme with silver accents gives more refined appearance as opposed to some grey cheaper looking dash & will likely weather (bear) the weather (UV rays) better in the longer run! FUN – my Swift elicits the smiling me :) & chases away the grumpy me! no floating / “false” boot floor (this was present on previous GLX models which allowed rear seats to fold down flat for easy loading of large items & also created another “hidden” compartment below) & thus my GLX rear seats don’t fold down flat; high boot lip needing more biceps workout when lifting objects into boot; lever for accessing petrol refuelling cap but nil open boot lever at bottom right driver seat; slightly tricky keyless entry in regard to trying to unlock doors when boot first unlocked & opened; after accessing glove box, glove box latch needs to be closed securely - latch feels bit ‘swallow’ & little flimsy; interior plastics feel hard & obvious lack of soft touch plastics; very thin / bare upholstery front & rear doors; relatively quiet indicators but road noise galore at highway speeds on original tyres & wheels; more storage (esp. covered) compartments would be useful & nice; non-bucket seats could be a little more comfortable or moulded (like those in Honda Jazz - to reduce my slight car seat envy); child seat-airbag warning sticker seems to have blended into passenger visor plastic layer & I haven’t worked out if this can be peeled off, petrol cap slightly inferior quality plastics & difficult to place the slits of fuel cap securely on the inner aspect of the petrol panel pop-out when refuelling; automatic gear changes as speed increases can be a little jarring on the rare occasion otherwise smooth operation1 comment

I happen to really like little cars. Smaller is better as far as I am concerned. However at over 6 foot tall I also have other considerations.
When I came to replace my last car I looked at a lot of motor cars ranging from Alfa Romeos, Audis, VW's and Mazdas. Not one of the smaller cars suited me anywhere as much as my Swift Sport.
The blokes at the workshop tease me about my choice in car. They all think it is a bit of a girls car, but I don't care. I know something they don't it is an aesome pocket rocket for the metropolitan area. ...Read more

Mighty mini
Just bought an ex demo Suzuki Swift GA. The main reason for my purchase, was for my daughter to learn to drive in a compact, cheap and safe commuter. I test drove the Barina, Corolla, Hyundai I30 and Toyota Yaris and finally, the Suzuki. After reading a plethora of reviews, I decided on the "Zook" mainly for financial and safety reasons, though there were a number of pocket sized vehicles which had more gimmicks.
I liked the initial drive in the baby Suzuki and noticed the precise handling and braking. Though a little underpowered and wishi...Read more
ng I'd spent a little more for the Sports model, I was impressed that with only myself in the car, it had some decent pickup. I am very glad I purchased the manual, as I would think the auto may be just too gutless. I am 6' 3" tall and over 100kg, which would normally see a car salesperson running for cover, but quite surprisingly, I felt comfortable and with adequate leg and head room. We live in a rural area and the baby Suzuki handles the constant 100km/hr, gently undulating trips to and from town, with ease. Despite a dearth of storage, slightly noisy on certain types of road and a logic defying omission of a tachometer, I got value for money; paying a smidgen under 15k for a vehicle I feel confident will serve my daughter's needs. I am very satisfied with the additions of a 5 year warranty, car mats, bonnet stone guard and protection kit for no extra. I have been assured that the choice of car falls in line with what is deemed as cool among my daughter's friends. A sporty looking, fuel efficient, safe and good handling car, may not be in the same league as a Toyota, VW or Pugeot, but for what I want, it does the job at 1000's of $ less. Well done Suzuki! Looks. Fuel efficient. Handling. Value for money. Dealer service. No tachometer. No controls on the steering wheel on the GA model. Lack of storage space. Some road noise on some types of roads..Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Suzuki swift glx 2012
First new car I've bought. Was skeptical about the fuel consumption, but made it from my hometown in eastern victoria up to canberra on one tank of premium petrol- 665km. Nice, smooth handling. Easiest car to park, helped nicely by the relatively big side mirrors. Stylish inside and out. Love the fact I can walk up to it with my hands full and press the button to unlock the car! Love my swift!
Inexpensive, great petrol consumption, roomy for a little car.

2011 Swift GL Manual
Very nice daily commuter. It's nimble and light and for me very comfortable to drive. Plenty of head room too. I really like the transmission in the manual, it has taken quite a beating from me and she still runs very well. This car is very efficient and I am managing 700km per tank driving to uni and back.
Only problem is from the get-go like many 5 speed transmissions reverse can be a bit tricky to engage and sometimes ill have to release the clutch and re-engage to wack her into reverse. Apart from that no complaints.
Nothing has faulted ever.
Efficient, reliable, easy to park
Like many 5 speed gear boxes reverse can be a bit tricky

The Rollerskate
The Swift has come a long way since the original. In some ways it's more refined, more powerful and certainly safer. But in other ways it's lost some of the old school, hot hatch charm of the original GTI.
The build quality is right up there and you're much more insulated from road noise, bumps, etc than you used to be. This is good comfort wise but does detract somewhat from your involvement in the drive. You can be traveling along quite quickly in the Swift and yet it feels like your hardly moving.

Ive taken it to the mechanics and explained the misfire and stalling however they’ve come back to me with thousands of dollars worth of problems and no reason at all as to why theres a misfire, stalling, sluggishness ect.
