I have a 2015 Swift . Recently had the front brakes done. New rotors and dba pads. The car absolutely rejects these brands the mechanic has tried. Makes a grinding noise with a finger nail scratching a blackboard kinda noise when comming to a stop. 3 different brands all the same result. Next we trying proper Suzuki pads and rotors! Has any one got any ideas why it’s doing this for? Please email me [email protected]

I have an issue with the instrument cluster in my 2010 suzuki swift sport, I will be driving and the odometer and revs drop to 0 and back ground light lights all go off and the ESP, ESP off, hand break light and ABS light light all stay on this is happening more frequently its worse on bumpy roads. I have had the mechanic look at it he thinks it needs a new instrument cluster. Any thoughts?

I have a 2005 Suzuki Swift sport 1.6 and my engine light keeps coming on generally after i have fulled up - She drives well, not overheating so I dont understand what could be wrong. Originally I thought it might of been the type of fuel, but im using 95 or 98 Thank you

Pls see whether your fuel lid closes tightly and if its rubber seal is ok.If there is an air leak from the cap, the check engine light could come on.

Thanks for the reply - I did check this - all seems okay - I have now narrowed it down to once i hit about 100 kms on a open road it comes on and then goes off after a day or so and then repeats the cycle - I am the only owner in Nz it was an import from Japan..

It might be a bit technical as Scott Kilmer in youtube using the scan tool to plug in the car OBD2 port to have a clue of the car.

Does a Suzuki swift 2011 have a chain or belt for the timing and does it have to be changed?

It has a timing chain, and doesn't really have a regular replacement schedule. Generally only if you have problems. They usually get noisy before anything major happens.

Hello and thank you for your time.

Can you please advise which Swift models have the 1.6lt Engines and what years of manufacture are they please?

I am wanting to purchase a Swift please and am researching/looking at both new and used vehicles with low kilometers.

A vehicle I've considered is a 2014 Sport Auto with 19,800 km, asking price $15,888. May I ask for your thoughts on the vehicle please and if its priced a bit high too please. Thank you.

Cheers for now, all best and thanks again.

A 1.6L engine was available in the (EZ) RS416 Swift Sports (2005 to 2011) and the FZ Swift Sports (2011 to 2016?).
The 2014 Swift Sport Auto (FZ) you quoted seems reasonably priced, but please be aware that the Auto is a CVT auto, so you may not enjoy the way it drives. The CVT will likely prioritise fuel economy over sporty driving, unless you put it into manual mode and use the paddle shifters or keep on the throttle. Also, the FZ model had a reduced size boot compared to the EZ RS416.
The FZ did improve fuel economy over the EZ, increase power and torque, got an auto as an option, got more tech like bluetooth, standard cruise control, climate control and push button start, but the interior (in my opinion) got a little bit less useful for places to put things like phones and wallets, but that’s just me.
I think you’ll like it, provided the car is in good condition. I’d personally get a Redbook inspection to make sure it’s been taken care of and in good condition.
Best of luck :)

How many KMS before the swift isn’t reliable anymore or needs a reboot ?
And what is the max amount you should drive them too ?

Its not so much about reliability, as it is cost. Suzuki swift engines are pretty durable, and ive seen them with 300,000 km on the clock, with very little work done to the engine itself. Cost and repairs starts to creep in at about 100,000km, where brakes need to be replaced. Fuel filter also at 100,000 which is inside the fuel tank and a little labour and cost intensive. Clutches and transmissions at about 150,000. But as far as cars go this is pretty much the norm, however the size and weight of the suzuki swift tend to make it a little gentler on wear and tear.

My 2011 Suzuki Swift was bought second hand with 102,000 kms on it. Had a big mantainance service on it. After the service I noticed when I would first start the car in the morning and drive 5 minutes I would lose electricity to the dash. The speed, petrol gage and revs would drop to zero, the box where it shows kms would flick off and the hand break light would come on. I would still be able to accelerate. Took it to my machanic and no problems with the computer, fuses or battery. At night the dash lights go on and off or get brighter when I lose everything. Radio also has started to increase and decrease in volume randomly.

Can anyone think of what the problem is?
