Still going after 15 years
I fancied black kitchen cupboard doors and heard enamel was the hardest wearing option. Despite being a novice, I mostly got a brilliant finish. Any not so good bits were my own doing. This was 15 years ago and there has only been a few small chips in all of that time. It is difficult to keep clean as black shows the grime easily.
Purchased in November 2021 for A$200.00.

I really liked thecoverage of this compared to a water based paint.
I decided to use an oil based paint this time instead of the water based I usually use to paint my kitchen cupboards. It was suggested I would get a better finish, and I did. It was easy to apply with good coverage and rather than be patchy as water based paints can be, it was wonderful to apply. I did bot mind the washup up either as rollers are really cheap tobuy now, and can be thrown away after one use.
I have decided that from now on I will always use Taubmans Ultra enamel.

Forget Negative Press- Use it yourself, You will find it great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I chose Taubmans Ultra Enamel as i have used their Timbertop (great product ),even though i read the negative reviews above. I wasn't disappointed. Using, dark colour called charcoal to cover an oil based primer that is white, i thought it would have poor coverage. Totally the opposite, great coverage, easy to apply and i was using a cheap brush. Not streaky at all. I will use again and recommend. I will do a 2nd coat but it doesn't need it.

Terrible Finish
Doesn't cover well and leaves a very high gloss in places but doesn't stick evenly elsewhere.
Shows every blemish in the timber. Would never use again. I find myself going over it several times to fix places where the gloss either didn't stick or wasn't thick enough. After talking to others found I am not the only one having problems. Will swap to Dulux from now on.

Goes on excellent, Great finish with brush or roller, easy to apply, stores well, lasts and lasts and lasts even in high traffic areas, doors, architraves and skirting boards, Bathroom painted 5 years ago still looks excellent.
Extremely happy with this product, easy to work with and a great long lasting finish every time.

Bubbling Enamel Paint
The paint goes on easy enough. Found it bubbling however in the paint tray when poured in. The tin had sat still for a week and was stirred with a stick so no bubbles created by myself. Applied to my doors twice now as the first time I thought it was me. Only one door is ok after I had to roll and work the bubbles out. This was the second time I have painted them and two currently have bubbles that look acne or a severe case of orange peel. Was told the roller was most likely the problem but have tried two rollers now. The doors were wel...Read more
l prepared and free of dust. I have renovated many houses and have never used such a temperamental paint. I am tired as they are going to have to be done again (third time) and I have decided to buy another brand. Will not buy Taubmans again. Very disappointed. Rubbish!
Terrible paint, do not flow at all. Applied this with mohair roller an per the directions, left a orange peel finish, I then applied using a paint brush as I would normally do with enamel paint, the brush marks left when applying stayed until dry, paint do not flow at all.
Don't waste your money, plenty of better (and cheaper) alternatives out there.

Smooth finish impossible
I recently tried the taubmans ultra enamel (oil base) in the semi gloss. First attempt was unthinned and the finish had a terrible orange peel effect. Even after thinning it to the max as suggested from their service person and using both foam and mohair rollers, a smooth finish is impossible.
I have also used the gloss version of this paint and have never had this problem, the gloss version flows nicely even unthinned with foam roller and a nice smooth finish achieved.
Now I have 4l can of rubbish that I don't know what to do with
