Has been great

published

Our Tempur mattress is 12 years old & now ready for replacing. There was no compression of the foam until about 8years in. I have always loved it, although as it is a high density foam it has been warm on those hot summer nights, something we were anticipating. I will absolutely be replacing it with a Tempur. Although not for everyone, it was perfect for us.

Purchased in September 2021 for A$2,399.00.

Worth every penny

published

I'm so glad I went with my gut instinct and assumed that the majority of people who write on review sites are unhappy. The feedback on the Tempur Original was fairly negative but I'd slept on one for a week when I was house sitting so I just had to convince my partner. Best. Purchase. Ever. It took a couple of nights to get used to but after 4 weeks I wake up every morning feeling rested, I don't wake up when my partner rolls over in the night and have even stayed sleeping when he got out of bed. I have struggled with poor sleep quality for a number of years. Who knew that a mattress would solve that.

Must Buy !!!

published

You will get what you paid for !!! You will be able to sleep through comfortably even if you sleep with an elephant bouncing up and down.
I had a shoulder ache with any other mattress, but this bed fixed it.
It does get a bit warm when the room is very hot in summer, but it's not a problem if you use an aircon.

Had it a year and it is awesome

published

We have slept on this mattress for a year and it has transformed or lives. My wife has chronic back pain from falling off a horse and breaking her tail bone as a young girl. She loves the mattress and has improved her life. At the time we could not afford the pillows but got then within three months due to how impressed we were with the mattress. Our previous mattress was nearly fifteen years old but was a high end spring one at the time. I was waking up with a sore back so decided to get the moths out of the wallet. Yes it was expensive but worth every cent and you spend eight hours of each day on it so it's relatively cheap. Do yourself a favour and have a try of this style of mattress.

like concrete in winter n a fire place in summer

Hate it! It's very hot in summer and as the winter months come, it becomes very hard.

Spoke with tempur and they said nothing they can do for wrong choice!!!

Stay away! So expensive and we now wake up during the night in pain.

Too Hot

published

The feel of the Temur mattress is great, but I don't understand anyone saying it is not too hot. In summer you burn against the mattress & if you have a bad back it is impossible to turn over without grabbing the bedhead. My wife gets hip pain as soon as she sleeps on the Tempur which goes away as soon as she sleeps on a normal mattress. I would not recommend it to anyone. I will try & sell it on Ebay to get rid of it, otherwise I will dump it.

Never slept so well!

published

After looking at beds off & on for the past 2 years, we finally purchased a King Tempur Traditional & are both very happy! Previously we had a cheaper memory foam mattress that was just too soft. Both my husband & are now sleeping so soundly. Its summer here at the moment and the heat I have heard people complain about hasn't been an issue, which is great, as we are both get hot generally. Love that the bed is very firm and supportive, while feeling incredibly soft & luxurious. My only regret is that we didn't buy this sooner. Couldn't recommend this highly enough! It is so worth the money, after all, you spend a lot of your life in bed.
Firm, yet soft and comfortable.

8 months on & we are still loving this mattress & very, very happy! Still not having an issue with overheating, nor was it too cold in winter. Cannot recommend this highly enough! Jo49

Out like a light

published

Bought a king 2m by 2m Tempur traditional mattress, ever since when we sleep, we are out like a light! Our previous mattress was a latex one which we had regretted from day one as aggravated my neck pain, so had big expectations for this Tempur one. Yes it was expensive, No it does not get hot at all (we sleep with a heavy woolly doona and still its fine), No it does not harden in Winter time, Yes it sinks and sucks you so its hard to toss and turn = restful comfortable sleep. If we went any softer (Cloud) than I feared we would never get out of bed!
How it moulds to you, yet stays firm for back support. Even my too-soft pillow has become comfortable and firmer on this mattress overnight.
Expensive, had to wait 3 months for delivery.

Love our bed!

Completely unsuitable

published

Now that winter is here my mattress has hardened. It's way too temperature sensitive. In summer it's fine in winter it has become an expensive brick. Of course the promotional material spruiks the "science" of Tempur. If it is so scientific how come it hardens so much in winter. Ridiculous advertising, ridiculous product.
I wouldn't recommend this product if it were a 10th of the price.
Avoid avoid avoid.

When bedroom cools down the mattress gets harder. It's almost like a block of wood in winter. Way too expensive.

Overally priced and overally hot-hate it.

published

I expected big things from this bed given what the Harvey Norman Bedding specialist said. The quality of the mattress fabric and stitching is excellent. It also gave relief for a seriously bad back which is appreciated. But the Tempur mattress gets very hot and stays that way. Tempur says to lessen bed coverings which i did and it altered nothing. It is way too hot! The price is ridiculously high but this could be because customers get gouged at the retail level in Australia.Even if they ever sell on line do not go anywhere near this mattress. And you can't have it for a trial period like in Europe. You buy it -you stuck with it.
Helped a bad back when asleep.
Way too hot . Very Expensive. Very heavy to lift mattress when tucking in sheets.

Have been sleeping on a Tempur mattress for four years now. Comfortable, conforming and superb. Took a while to get used to it, but wouldn't swap for anything now.

My back is sore

published

The tempur mattress doesnt offer the right balance of softness and support. It takes a while for you to sink into it, but then its difficult to turn over. Even though you are sunk into it you still get pressure and need to turn.
We have put up with this mattress for a couple of years because we paid so much for it and they wouldnt let us return it.
Surface layer feels soft to touch
Uncomfortable, heavy, hot.

No good, in more pain now that everbefore

published

Purchased this back in jan 2011, got use to the heat factor but our body has aches & pains (back an neck pain mainly). Currently in the process of seeing what forty winks can do for us, emailed tempur directly with no response. if you have back pain I would not recommend the TEMPUR mattress.
At first it appeared to be confitable
Warranty? be really sure its for you as its very expensive.

I need to let the saleperson know whether i want a tempur supreme mattress which currently has 50%off the price? I am really confused as most of the reviews i have read suggest to stay clear of tempur - gets too hot, too difficult to roll over, the mattress hardens in winter. I was really shocked as the salesperson gave it such a great pitch. I guess it is their job. I am really confused and are all tempur mattresses going to have the same common complaints as in the reviews whether they are an entry level mattress or top of the line? Thanks.

Salespeople get commission!! I think all tempur mattresses are latex (or similar) so of similar style. They come in different softness/hardness types. To me the hardness problem is noticeable in winter of course when the temparature goes down. We've had ours over a year now and it still has this problem. Check out other types, styles and brands of mattresses before making up your mind.Good luck.

I ended up going against the tempur mattress - I figured there must be truth behind all those common complaints. Thanks for your contribution and confirming that I made the right choice. Much appreciated. Thanks.

The Tempur guarantee is a farce also. The mattress, which is made of petrochemical derivatives so it may off gas, comes in layers and it is only the bottom layer which carries the 15 year guarantee the top layers it is only 2 years. So be careful. When I rang Tempur I found the sales staff to be rude and non helpful and this was why I did not purchase their mattress.
