Does the unit get really hot?

It does get hot. It has the word "HOT" stenciled on it, so you know not to touch it during operation. It takes about 15 minutes to cool down again after use.

It does get hot but you can pick it up and handle it (if you really need to!) by using the heat resistant handle.
Also, the milk spout has a silicon pad if you need to adjust the angle.

It's understandable that it gets hot, as it needs to build up sufficient heat first to brew the coffee, and then to create a good head of steam to texture the milk. (The handles are always comfortable to touch.)

Have never measured it but I make two small cups every time.

Approximately 60ml (double shot). It is very strong, so it's plenty for two cappuccinos.

Hi Jane, I gather when you mention the 'shower screen' you are talking about the coffee extraction area up under the top of the machine. To clean under this area, you should have received a very small allen key/tool to undo the small screw that is holding the plate in place. Remove & wash with warm soapy water and rinse. Apparently that area and the end of the steam nozzle (which unscrews) are the only two areas which need regular cleaning. Cheers Leigh

This depends on why and where 'The Little Guy' formerly the OTTO needs cleaning.
Possibly needs sending in for service if milk has contaminated the boiler via the milk frothing wand. [that is the worst case scenario]
Three options;
1] Write an email to Craig the owner and ask for advice.
2] If it is just a water scale issue I have found the use of citric acid from baking section of the supermarket is good to clean kettle scale. Experiment with that first to understand the process. But I would expect a tablespoon would be enough in the boiler, then boil to rinse with clean water.
3] Your bean roaster coffee group should have standard espresso machine descaling fluid for the boiler and lines.

A cleaning brush from your bean roaster coffee group for the 'the shower screen' or grouphead and portafilter basket is useful also for $15.00 - $25.00
