Serious Issues with Hydros
Bought the MX4250 with a mulching kit in 2017 after Toro was recommended by my father in law who had a Z diesel. Terrible choice as mine has been back to shop for a replacement electric brake, new carburetor, and both hydros replaced under warranty last month. Now losing drive on one hydro when hot (just replaced last month) and have been told it will have to be replaced again, thankfully still under warranty but seriously? Because of this issue now takes me 4 hours of what I could mow in a hour with a new hydro that has less than 15 hours since being replaced. Over $7500 to purchase with mulching kit I am not impressed.
Purchased in October 2021 for A$7,500.00.

How to navigate slopes
I bought this even though I have a sloping road/ramp at the rear of my block out the back that goes down to another grassy area. The mower is overall faultless, although you have to practice holding your beer in one hand and the other two steering arms with the other hand...lol. seriously though, I've given the 4250 a good flogging and it still comes back for more.
Back to the slope. You will have to practice a bit on using each rear wheel independently when descending steep(ish) slopes...not unachievable - Just need to practice that's all. ...Read more
Go slowly to avoid having the front guide wheels run away from you...nice and easy....Going up slopes is fine. The slopes I'm talking about are one where you can just comfortably walk down before the slope wants you to start trotting/skipping. Very steep slopes are probably the domain of a push mower OR the brushcutter. This machine absolutely finishes large open tracts of paddock in fast (mowing) mode in a short amount of time.....excellent work. I've used this mower to cut down 8 foot tall grass that was growing out the back of the mangrove swamp that is at the end of my property. Just put it on highesr setting and tow mode and not a problem. I now have extra walkway field/paddock space where the grass used to be. Watch the turning circles around trees after its been raining as the hydrostatic drive can cause the tyres to dig in. Just go slow and don't try to do burnouts...not the fault of the machine...it's the driver...Nice and steady or perform a wider arc that's all. A great machine and I recommend you buy it as it's quality and not junk and will give you an outstanding zero turn experience. The extra HP of the 4250 means you have power to take on the biggest of domestic tasks around your small semi rural property.Purchased in September 2021 for A$6,100.00.

Great ride on mower
Great ride on mower, we have about 20+ trees and it's so easy to manouver around them. We are also on a bit of a slope and you do have to be careful turning on slopes but never had a problem there either. We have had it two years, would recommend.

It's fast and manoeuvres well around trees
I love this mower. It is so fast and does a great job, but it is not free of cons.
Being a Zero Turn, it is no good on slopes. Gentle slopes are fine, but anything above a 4 to 1 slope, you will end up facing the wrong way. Especially if the ground is a little greasy.
If you are too harsh on the turns, you will rip holes in your yard. I mow around fence posts and I have dug a 10cm hole in the yard because I hit the same spot each time.
But I don't regret buying this mower at all. It is so much faster than a tractor style mower and makes easy work of mowing around obstacles.

Great Machine overall
If you have want to shred time not only grass you can’t go wrong. Deliberated for ages between lawn tractor and zero turn then what brand. I am happy with decision....... zero turn and Toro......once I got my head around driving it that is. Won’t go back to a lawn tractor again and love the new machine! Halved my mowing time on my three acre block.

Is this machine suitable for small commercial operations? Areas of mow between 1 to 3 acres on domestic lawns.
