Maybe the best product we ever made in Australia
I bought the Camry for my 21 y.o. son. He will never drive it himself, care workers mainly drive him around, but he needs independence as far as possible. We live in a rural 'commuter' area with 110km speed limits and he is a large man 190 cm so we needed a combination of safety, interior space, on-highway drivability, and low running costs. A car that would survive a multitude of drivers, with no quirky habits, and with copious rear leg-room.
The Camry was 1 YO and had ~160,000 km on the odometer having been a 'Community Car' with th...Read more
e local council, and since Sep '17 we have added another ~30,000 km. But you wouldn't know it driving the car, it still feels brand new. It returns excellent fuel economy, has 15,000 service interval, and you can buy tyres in known brands for <$140 a corner...even though he rides in style on 17" alloys. In my opinion, the build quality is as good as our MIJ cars, and better than the previous AU and EU made ones we've owned. Nothing has broken, fallen off, failed, leaked or flaked. The paint job is spot-on (apart from driver-induced blemishes) and there are no squeaks or rattles. Oil consumption over the last 17,000 km was maybe 250-300ml. It runs perfectly on 91 ULP and I anticipate that it will continue to do so for a very long time. The Atara S is a great spec, with low noise, supple ride, split climate control, inbuilt antennae, DLR lights, leather look steering wheel, electric seat, blue-teeth, reversing camera, and 5 speed auto w/- paddle shifters, keyless entry and starting, and beeps at you if you've got out but left the selector in 'N' and not 'P', a million airbags, and electric everything, etc. One possible negative is the USA style parking brake...which seems not to have caused any problems, maybe that's because there's a warning buzzer if you drive off without properly releasing it (the voice of experience...). Awesome all-round car. I think its a shame the local production ended.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Wonderful car
We purchased this this vehicle in 2017 and it is such a pleasure to drive. It has more guts then I would have thought ! The reversing camera is great, automatic headlights and great storage.. quite a bit of leg room, very spacious boot, heaps of cup/bottle holder areas.
It has been great on fuel aprox 7.6l per 100km very reliable and just wonderful to drive.

Excellent sporty family car!
I have had my Camry for almost three years and I LOVE it! It is reliable car which has got a very powerful engine and the options on the Atara SL model are great and can please everyone.
I can't really fault the car however when I took the car for service they told me that updating the GPS costs about $300 every time which I think is absurd! Therefore I had to buy a Garmin for $200 with free lifetime updates.

Good looking
I love the car. its so good looking car. the comfort and the looks so nice. we did the leather seat covering that was good decision with young kids. Running cost is almost zero ( less) as compare to big SUV or 4 wheel drives. so economical family car. as compare to other luxury expensive cars it was the best pick for us.

Good overall
This car has big space, powerful enough for driving in the city. I was once driving it to Gold Coast, tried some mountain roads, not very good experience though.
I am told that Camry is the only model assembled in Australia. I think that why the decorations inside are not as good as other models which are assembled in Japan. My Camry's trim beneath the middle air-con was pulled out and had a big gap, but got fixed when doing the capped service.
Overall it is a good car.

Very very happy with my car
Past cars I owned are Mazda3,6 and Honda Civic. But this hybrid camry is my absolute favourite. It may not turn heads, but everything just works. Reliable, comfortable, and very economical. May not be the quickest but who cares in Sydney traffic. I feel i am doing my bit for the environment just driving this car around.

The most reliable car I have ever had
Coming from a Nissan pulsar, this car is like a dream come true. The ride is very smooth and had all the new technologies including blue tooth aux and dedicated charging cables with usb ports. The reverse camera is also brilliant, and is very accurate. Have to fuel up once even 2 weeks and it runs on around 9L/100km

Well worth the money
Performance-wise it's okay. Not very powerful (although having a sporty look) but very smooth to drive.
The multi-function display looks really nice. Keyless entry and keyless start are very handy.
Legroom of the back seats is incredible.
Fuel economy is average. We use about 10L/100km. 80% urban.
The only thing I don't like is the poor connectivity. No Apple Car Play / Android. And there's only one USB port.
Overall satisfied. At this price you can't get wrong with it.

It is very reliable and safe to drive. I love the shape of car. Gives me luxury feeling inside. Fuel consumption is very low. Perfect for long drives, solid build, since I bought it, never spent any single penny on any repair except service and cleaning.cruise control is the best feature.

Great economy but just a few improvements needed
This is my first Toyota after finally selling my Mercedes C180. Needed more room for the larger family now! The price and features are great value. Fuel economy USB average, as j expected better. The seats could be more comfortable though, as being a tall guy I need more ability to adjust the angles and length.

Very Nice!
One of the best Toyota cars! i love the sports car feel, how it has the black alloy wheels. The car is very spacious and very comfortable. Lots of space for all 5 people including the driver. My favorite part is the colour of the car, orange with the black lines.

4 years owner experience
I owned my Camry Atara R since March 2014, it is being driven 55,000 km now, 60% highway plus 40% city drive.
positive: 1. reliable family car, cheap to maintain (serviced every 9 month or 15,000 km)
2. roomy and comfortable, especially rear seats.
negative: 1. average 9.6L/100 on clock
2. bit boring to drive
Anyway, it worth the price, i am happy to keep driving it.

Perfect Family economic Car
This car is the best ever thing bought in my life. Very good Petrol Average. Perfect smooth ride. Even driving after hours make you feel relaxed.
Changed body shape is even more better than its previous Model.
*** They should show the real time speed per hour on the Odometer.

Okish car
The petrol does work but if you are going for a new car, go for the hybrid one.
Takes too much petrol than you think. Not really fuel efficiency.
The performance and handling is bad. Reasonable quite. Legroom is okay too.
Guess they do a lot better with the dashboard.
Don't go for Berwick Toyota since they rip you off.

Great family car
We've had our Camry for 2 years now. It's a great car. The reason we bought it was the large boot space and there is enough room to fit 3 car seats across the back. Even with our pram and pot a cot in the boot we have room for the family bags if we're going away or for shopping etc day to day. We got the windows tinted which keeps the car a lot cooler. Another great thing is how fuel efficient it is. I can generally get 500-600km on one tank of petrol depending if we're doing long distance of short trips. We've not had any problems with it and it's done a lot of kilometres in its short life. The other reason we went for it was because Toyota were offering free financing which was a big help.

one of the best car I ever drove.
This is one of the "handy" car I ever have. Running very smooth and quiet. And very easy to control the steering wheel. This car have 5 star safety rate and that's why I bought as my city family car.
Running costs are not cheap, mine is 2.5 Altise,75L full tank oil can run about 600 in the city.
Con: Audio system are not great, speaker quality not as good as I expected. Only one cd player not the 6 cd unused had in my Honda. Touch screen، bluetooth function need to improved.

Atara S- Nice and safe car to drive with family
Most reliable Australian car backed up with toyota advantage. Safe 5 star for family. Excellent pick up just little bit of downside is /liter petrol mileage is not good if driving short distance. Otherwise tick all boxes. At current price its bargain to have all extra features like push start...electric seat adjustment etc.

Hybrid incredible fuel economy - Practical family car
Haven driven the Camry Hybrid for 6 Months and covered 16,500km I can say I am still amazed at it's fuel economy.
Positives: It has blisteringly fast acceleration as the electric motor provides 'instant' power with no lag. 1,000km on a tank of standard 91 Octane Unleaded is the norm.
It is a practical sized car for my Wife and 2 x Children (10-12)
The entertainment system and bluetooth are easy to use.
Negatives: A rather boring, plan ride - dull and uninspiring
Boot space in impacted by the battery system housed under the rear seat
Overall for a no frills family, not wishing to carry much luggage often this is hard to ignore

Hello Toyota drivers!
Can you please advise me... Does that 2015 Camry Atara S Hybrid have a GPS unit included as standard factory fitted, or did I read correctly that in 2015, only the SL version came with a GPS?
Thank you everyone in advance...

+ It's reliable. 100% so far.
+ The ability to enter and start with the key in your pocket stands out. + My better half, who doesn't drive, tells me she wouldn't change a thing on her side of the car. - The ride is not as soft as I'd like. Apparently the low profile tyres on my particular model don't help. - There is a slight, but noticeable, jerk when accelerating from stop. Feels like the drive train is taking up slack. - Boot space and towing capacity are necessarily sacrificed for fuel economy. Just a word of warning - if you fit a tow bar & ball your rear proximity sensors won't work. Mentioning that must have slipped their minds when I got the quote for the tow bar. - Although the drivers seat is mostly comfortable (with a plethora of electronic adjustments) the seat position, for me at 5' 10" tall and 80 kilograms, is a compromise. I can't adjust the seat forward enough because my right knee becomes dangerously obstructed by the steering column when braking. If I lower the seat to compensate I end up sitting too low. So, despite having steering reach & tilt adjustments, I have to settle for a straight legged sitting position with the steering wheel and peddles just beyond optimal reach. Maybe not a deal breaker but something to consider. Despite a few niggles (there are always a few niggles) I don't regret the purchase.+ Has surprisingly powerful and silky smooth acceleration, especially when overtaking at highway speeds.
+ 50/50 front/rear weight distribution straightens out corners without any apparent over or under steer. ... Read more
