GPS out of date on new vehicle
I purchased a brand new Land Cruiser VX 3 October 2015.
I am very impressed with the vehicle in all departments except for the GPS maps being 2 years out of date.
A number of local roads that I drive on are showing incorrect speed limits. I approached the local service agent who advised that I had the latest version of GPS and there was nothing they could do. SD card number is PZQ60-0553.
I then wrote to Toyota Australia advising that I had approached the local dealer and they advised that the problem was a Toyota Australis issue.

A bit over rated but does the job
I bought the Landcruiser for towing a 2.5+ tonne boat over long distances. eg Trailersailer to the the Whitsundays. My previous vehicle was a Pajero which did the job well but struggled in mountainous areas.
Most friendsd have Landcruisers of various ages and highly recommended the Cruiser. So to my thoughts - car drives well and plenty of power for towing. If you put your foot down when passing at speed it has a tendency to have the fuel filter warning message come on even with a new filter recently installed. Once told how to reset it it no ...Read more
longer worries me but it should not happen. Other owners have complained of the same thing. A bit concerning the first time it happened in the Flinders Ranges. I have rarely been able to stay in sixth gear unless doing 110 km on a flat or downhill road. Driving in smooth and rough conditions is pretty good and the all wheel drive means I have never had to worry about trying low range even when towing. Fuel economy when towing is very similar to my old Pajero which had to work hard in hilly conditions and I often get 15-16 L/100L on the highway with boat behind. The VX series has excellent lights for highway driving and also has daytime lights for safety. Driving in all conditions is predictable even in gravelly road at speed. My grouches nearly all relate to interior fittings. Somethings are really annoying compared to other vehicles. The GPS system is not reliable compared to my $150 cheapy. In Tin Can Bay it tried to send me on to the beach instead of the car park. In 2014 in Adelaide it shows the new freeway north of Adelaide driving through paddocks when it was opened 4 years ago -very out of date. Oh Toyota will charge me about $150 for an update. Great service!! The radio switches off whenthe motor is stopped and you then have to wait for it to restart - takes a few seconds but annoying if listening to something important. Can be overcome if you switch the car off in neutral then put car in park. Storage is minimal and storage covers flimsy. The 240V socket fell off the first time it was used with an Engel cord. It is badly placed and unsupported. Rear seats when tumbled forward are held up with a strap hooked on the grab handles. Very agricultural. Even the saleperson couldnt demonstrate their storage. positions without causing jamming problems . The problem messages on the dash over ride the things you want to see such as the speed. You have to go to a service centre to reset this. The switch controls were placed using a scattergun and there is no logic for their placement. Many are difficult to find in the dark. The front seats have every known adjustment known to man but I cannot find a comfortable driving position for long trips. To end on a positive note 2 things that are brilliant. Firstly, the moving reversing mirrors that dip down when reverse is selected make the vehicle easier to park and see close obstacles and secondly is the use of drivers side double sun visors something that probably cost a $1 to install and last seen on a 1940's Wolseley I think.

Vehicle is OK But GPS System is Absolute Rubbish
I have a new 2015 model, the navigation system does not give directions early enough to make use of them! I have missed a turn dozens of times due to the poor performance of this unit. Foe a vehicle in the price range that it is, the system should be the best that money can buy. Even a cheap plug-in GPS device out performs the Toyota one by a country mile.

VX2000 A great machine!
Huge improvement over the 100 and 80 series. Well built, quiet, smooth and fuel efficient for its size. KDSS does its job well and all previous issues with the early models are now resolved.
Overall handling is excellent with great lights and brakes that work well.
Minor grizzles include too many bells and chimes, loss of auxiliary ignition position with "smart key" which means you have to start the engine to wind the windows down or use the GPS. Another grizzle is the silly fuel consumption read out which defaults to 40l/100k when you fill up and then gradually gets back to a sensible reading.
I have had no warranty claims or complaints and can recommend the product

Brilliant vehicle
Very happy with vx 2014
Just put new exhaust and stienbouer chip to be different!
Gone instantly from 150 horsepower to wheels too 200 horsepower. Unbelievable to tow our van.
I believe if anyone complains about the cruiser they can't afford one and don't have the right to complain. We upgraded from a 4 cylinder patrol 2010 and don't look back!
Drove the Range Rover to compare vehicle and was equally happy but the $50k difference and knowing the resale value for Toyota was a simple choice.
Great choice of vehicle and I'll buy another in the future!

Worst Toyota I've ever had - so disappointed I had to sell it
After owning several fantastic 2nd hand long term Land Cruiser over the last 35 years, I finally celebrated my retirement by getting myself a lovely brand new LC200 V8 TD Altitude. Certainly I was optimistic and had some high expectations for this $90,000 ++ "King off the Road..."
BUT, the LC200 has been a total disappointment.
Toyota sales and service have been lousy too.
I rate the car a 3 out of 10 and Toyota as 1 out of 10.
The car is comprehensively hamstrung by numerous DESIGN FLAWS, and in my view is not even fit for purpose. Ha...Read more

Expensive machine for good run...
06/06/2018 - Update - I sold this car last month for 83k which is a pretty good price for 3.6 years old with 67k odometer reading. One of the advantages of this car is the resale value. I sold within two weeks after advertised and the buyer even didn't test drive due to satisfy with all service records and confident on the LC200 engine. Now, I have ordered another LC200, and this time it is Sahara, and of course, it is expensive.

nsive. I bought it brand new 2014 V8 Diesel VX model on Oct'14. I sold my Pajero and bought this car because to tow my 2-ton boat without any issues. I fitted extra ARB bull bar, Safari snorkel, UHF antenna, Warn winch, etc. So far ran 37000KM. Pros: 1. Powerful engine V8 4.5L Diesel 2. Very good handling on road and off road 3. Great towing machine. It is easily towing my 2-ton boatSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beeps and warnings are officially ridiculous
My VX Diesel Landcruiser is only 6 months old and I'm way over it. I can't even figure out what half the warning beeps are. You can't have the door open while the vehicle is parked with accessories on, not that thats a problem becuase I can't figure out how to put the accessories on, you can't reverse the boat into the water with the Tailgate up, you can't drive out of your garage without your seatbelt on.
I've also got the impression that the service people are not very interested in your issues and that the issues will become huge with the ageing of the vehicle. I wanted to keep the vehicle for 8 years but that looks forlorn now.

KING OF THE ROAD OR JUST A QUEEN?
Upgraded from a 80 Series Turbo Diesel Cruiser to the facelift 2013 LC200 TTD in the VX model. Have clocked up 25,000km and overall am very impressed with it's on road performance, comfort and features which I'd expect for 100 grand worth of vehicle. For those readers who are after an open road, long distance traveling vehicle either towing or crammed to the roof with gear, I can't fault the LC200. In my opinion, it's simply brilliant. I've experienced none of issues I've read about on reviews probably written by Jeep or Nissan owners (just jok...Read more
ing guys). For those interested about running costs, fixed price servicing is $210 every 10,000km or 6 months and fuel consumption figures for me are: 12.7-13.5L/100km for city driving, 10.7-11.2L/100km on open roads packed with camping gear, 12.5-12.7L/100km towing an 4.5m alloy boat, 16-18L/100km towing the 2500kg big boat and 14-15L/100km towing a fully packed camper trailer. For those buyers who are after an off road vehicle that's heavily focused on 4wding, you maybe disappointed. Even though ARB have pimped my ride it's hardly a King Of The Road, but more like a Queen once you get into anything beyond moderate rated tracks & obstacles. To sum up it's offroad manners, it's kinda like a french champagne sipping supermodel attending a country B&S Ball with stilettos and a designer dress rather than wearing Blundstones, denim jeans while downing rum & cola cans. A little out of place, and inevitable that she'll return to the city with broken heels, scratched complexion & a torn dress. The front IFS greatly limits wheel travel and underbody clearance even after suspension mods. Larger diameter tyres help this (33" max without scrubbing) but cannot compete with live axle vehicles for suspension articulation. The overall width of the vehicle enjoys those tight rock cuttings or heavily over grown tracks. Scratches and dents are inevitable. Testing the CRAWL functionality along with KDSS hydraulic sway bars, I was very surprised at the results after being a staunch sceptic beforehand. It actually does a great job in moderate to difficult terrain to control wheel slip and maintain forward motion in a controlled manner, although noisy. A positive note is it's profound ability on sand, the LC200 is a beach weapon with loads of torque, 6 speed auto and large tyre footprint make for easy work in soft sand despite it's mass. So my overall review is a 4 star rating. If only Toyota offered the twin turbo diesel with a 6 speed manual gearbox in a VX Troopcarrier.... That would put a smile on the face of many 4wder's down here in Australia..... Great long distance tourer or tow vehicle. Well suited to the open road Reduced offroad capability compared to it's predecessors.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Brilliant all round 4x4
The 200 series Landcruiser VX V8 diesel is just beautiful, Options include Power Sunroof, Cruise Control, 6 Speed Sequential Automatic, Power Leather seats,Power Windows,Power Mirrors. Console Fridge, Alloys and electric self levelling suspension. A stunning amount of Torque from the engine 4.5 Twin Turbo V8 and it sounds like a real truck Awesome acceleration and a stunning smooth drive. Can be a little deceptive on corners showing it's great weight when going through corner giving you a little bit of a scare but this is the only thing wrong about it.
Everything, Huge Road Presence
Servicing can be pricey if using dealer.

Get 2" lift and ask for the stiffest coils for the front, it makes a difference in the cornering.
test driving one tomorrow, sooooo excited, upgrading from our 80 series turbo diesel to the vx twin turbo, cant wait.
VX with a console fridge? I don't think so, not in Australia, you have to get a Sahara to get the fridge.

I have an issue with my 2018 LC 20 VX model and radio and Bluetooth having no sound. Here’s what happens
Currently - no sound at all coming through. This effects the radio and whilst the phone does connect to Bluetooth, there is no sound coming out of that either.
Previously - there has been static coming from the speakers. It is very random and can ‘crackle’ at any time, then goes quiet, then crackles again.
Occasionally - At times it just switches on and everything works.
Toyota have replaced the head unit and zero change. I just picked it up from Toyota today for attempt #4 and the technician says there are ‘no problems with wiring or speakers’ however I still have no sound
Any help/advice would be wonderful.

how to fix a clove box lid from opening
1 answer
The glove box handle pulls the latches into both sides of the glove box door/cover . These sometimes jam in because of dust or debris, and have to be coaxed out, but gently. A little lubrication helps them work better. It is not advisable to try to crack open the door as they are stuck together very well.
