Great value for money
My unimig viper 185 came with a starter kit and helmet so with the exception of gas, ready to go. Having never really mig welded before, its easy to set up and use.
For a beginner looking at doing a bit of hobby welding, or a home handy man for odd jobs - id highly recommend.

Great service on 20yo 172 led to this 185 purchase.
Got a deal on a Viper 185 to replace my old (40kg) 172. Really easy to use with the infinite controls. Using it on solid and gasless wire. Completely satisfied.

Great machine
As a novice welder, I've found the Viper 185 easy to set-up and use. The set up is intuitive and the instructions simple to follow. The machine is a delight to use, so much so that I'm looking around for things to repair around the place. I love t!

Beast of a machine... does all!
This was a small but big purchase. Compact and light but powerful and capable. Ive welded many thicknesses and it dialed right into it...Best feature, it doesn't stuff me around with bunched up wire feeds...Highly suggest the Viper... will be welding for years to come and anything I need it to weld. My store put me onto a winner!

Unimig Viper 185
I bought the Unimg Viper 185 multi process machine from Hares and Forbes in queensland. I've been running it on 8mm flux core wire which has been great for me as I am new to welding and not quiet ready to invest in a gas bottle yet.
From my limited experience...the mig has been great...I've done a number of projects whilst learning to weld. All the info is supplied to set up the machine and their is heaps of info online if needed. There was a few occasions where I did have a question regarding the welder..a quick call to the support guys at Un...Read more

Questions & Answers
Broadyasked
I'm currently welding using roll feed (Mig gasless) and I want to swap to MMA (stick). Do I need to pull off the MIG gun and wire spool, or can I just connect the MMA lead and flick the selector switch?

Hi Broady, yes that's correct you can just keep the wire and MIG gun connected. Just make sure you have the correct polarity orientation for the electrode you are using.
Thanks very much for your quick reply.

IS it gasless
4 answers
It can be either. Im using with gas because im doing automotive panels inside. But not hard to change to gasless mig. Just swap the wire out. But if you have no intention of using gas at all, there might be cheaper options available.
Will has it right. I use gasless when I need to weld outside the workshop, otherwise I use it on gas.
Haven’t used the TIG yet as I have an old Essetti that does the job.
Regards
Robert
The answers are correct. I use gassless because I'm only doing hobby work, and it's too much bother to have gas bottles.
