2 HP Dust extractor
I recently purchased one of their 2hp Dust collectors online. Delivery was fast and I had it in a couple of days. Assembly was straight forward. On initial start up, there was a quite loud metallic clunking sound in the actual motor area. As it ran, the sound coming from the motor itself sounded like a crook bearing. It would squeal and then run OK, then intermittently squeal again randomly. It wasn't sounding right and it was so hot, you could'nt touch the heat shrink area of the motor. After a bit of use with it making these squealing metalli...Read more
c noises, the noises seemed to go away, but the motor was still very hot to touch. Spoke to H & F and they agreed to replace the motor, if I was OK fitting it. New one arrived and I fitted it (easy job) and the unit now performs faultlessly. They paid for shipping of the returned motor. I cant fault the customer service department, they acted in a timely manner and my issue was resolved. The 2hp unit is great. Very stable and can be wheeled around the workshop with ease as I connect it to different machines. I've since fitted a better filter than the bag that it comes with. I'd recommend the 2HP dust collector and also the service I received from Hare and Forbes.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Brilliant!
I was after parts for my old Tiger 2000 wetstone grinder. Alas she was too old. H&F sold me a new one with a discount. The machine was at my home less than 24 hours after I had ordered it. I've bought quite a few bits of gear from H&F over the years. Always good service, decent quality and fair prices.

Do not buy unless you can fix it!
I purchased this machine because I had an urgent job that needed multiple small flashing's. It is probably the worst example of cheap Chinese goods I've ever come across. Build quality is atrocious, the clamping handle pin broke off on fist use, nothing is welded on square etc. To date I have cut off 5 different parts and re-welded them on to match the other end. The segmented teeth are made of some sort of steel that has a tensile strength lower than aluminium if you can believe that. The only reason this didn't got straight back is because it was shipped from the other end of the country.
After saying all this, the staff at Machineryhouse were excellent and got this to me as quickly as possible.

Hafco woodmaster 13" planer with helical cutter head
I bought a 13"t-13s planer with helical head. It was more noisy than a straight blade planer. It lasted 12 months and the motor casing has cracked and fallen to bits, that's all that held it in place on one end.$250 to replace the motor (before freight).very poor quality plastic casing (reminds me of bakerlite plastic) cannot bye just the casing. A cheap nasty product. I think that management should take a long hard look at their products they are selling. Definitely profit before quality here. I for one will never buy from them again

Always great to deal with, the Mates Rates discounts really add extra value to sale prices
I've bought online from Hare & Forbes for some years now using the Mates Rates discount codes, and picking the item up instore. The range is fantastic, and the website is really laid out quite logically and simply with no stupid "snazziness" like some companies feel compelled to do!
The amount of stock instore is fantastic, although it seems a little less than the old site, but at least you can see, touch, and power on quite a lot.
The staff have always been really helpful and I've never had any reason to complain, so kudos to H&F!

good bargains
I've bought 3 items from hafco. The bandsaw is well designed. The dust collector tips over when moved around so I had to weigh it down with 4 bricks to lower its centre of gravity. Get the 2hp if you can. And the drill press had obviously been dropped at some stage because the top cover was bent. This prevented me from operating it because the safety switch located inside the cover wasn't depressed. The gentleman on the phone couldn't really give 2 craps so I manually adjusted the location of the switch so it wouLd operate. Good products except for the 1hp dust collector which is a safety hazard.

Problem sorted
Bought a machine base and when I wanted to put together found a part of 2 pieces missing. Phone up and within hours had sent me another replacement that arrived the next day. Thank you. Great service and can't fault the speed of rectification. I know you see some reviews on cheap built machinery but sometimes you also get what you pay for!
Have not had problem with stuff i have bought from Machinery house.

Today's visit.
I visited the store today with the intention of upgrading an existing 10 inch table saw with a 10 or 12 inch saw with better dust control than our current saw. I was completely ignored, so I left without buying anything.

Do not buy a metal cold saw from these people
Ordered a $5000 socco cold saw from these people on their recommendation that it was the best. waited 6 months for delivery while they had my money. They started warranty period from when we ordered not when they shipped to us. To cap it off the saw is the worst quality and design machine I have ever seen, our electrician has had to redo the circuit board in it, I have had to reweld the safety guards several times and remake under engineered parts for it, I am still waiting for the replacement parts to turn up. The last big breakdown we had was...Read more
serious someone could have been hurt, they wanted us to send it back to them to fix, serious? this is a large machine bolted to the floor...I guess they knew that wasn't going to happen so that's how they got out of fixing it. The credits they promised for our time fixing it, 'oh I know nothing about that credits you say?' Not worth dealing with this companySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good customer service - Good product - Great Price
I made my purchase online so that I could use the $50 off voucher for signing up to the online shop. Product I purchased is good quality and works well. Customer service was nothing like what I have seen described in previous reviews. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, they seemed interested in helping me and happy to provide me with advice. Only issue was that the product purchased had a part in the box that I cant find a use for and the instructions were more of a vague guide than anything else. The product works fine without the unidentified part installed and I will likely call them at some stage to find out where I should put this part.

Lesser of two evils
They charge a fraction more than ebay, but they cant hide behind the hassle of a returned good to chinaaa. Ebay is far more riskier, pay an extra 10 bucks amd get a worthwhile purchase.

Scheppach Special Edition HS120 Table Saw
I bought this online and paid for delivery. Scheppach had a good name when I'd last heard of them a few years ago, so I felt like the quality on this item should be good. I watched the product demo video and researched the tool first, then bought it online to be delivered.
I unpacked it and all of the parts were there, but upon assembly it became quickly apparent that there was no way this machine was capable of any kind of precision work- the top work surface was thin sheet metal and was not in any way flat. It was extremely aggravating to ...Read more
have to spend the time assembling the machine just to find that out. I messaged Machineryhouse and got the same excuses I have heard every other time I've had a problem with them. They simply do not want to help customers at all once they have your money, and they do not care in the slightest about repeat business. They will argue every point via email, until you remind them that the tool is under warranty and subject to Australian consumer laws. Then they may send you out a replacement part if it's small, or simply ignore your emails from that point on. I had bought the table saw, a Hafco thickness planer, a Hafco jointer, and a Hafco linisher from them in the same period; and not one of them worked as advertised, or was even able to be set up straight. The jointer is impossible to square (which is the primary function of a jointer), and the linisher table with the mitre slot in it is at an angle, and no amount of adjustment will bring it into 90 degrees from the sanding disc. I also bought a Scheppach track saw, and the rubber strip that you align with your cut line fell off before I even used it, so I can't tell accurately where the cut will happen. Every problem is met with excuses and even going so far as to blame me for somehow being at fault for poor quality casting, parts that don't align properly, machines that are impossible to set up square, flimsy materials that break when used normally or that preclude the user from setting up the machine so it can be used for its intended function. I will never buy a Scheppach or Hafco Woodmaster tool again, and like others on this thread, I'd rather pay a little more and shop at Carbatec from now on.Similar opinion? I BOUGHT A CL-38A MODEL LATHE.
Purchased this machine a while back in 2015 as part of a workshop revamp. I must say that the service from the HAFCO team was quite ok, although the order was a bit slow from memory.
Its one of HAFCO's medium sized models, three phase and 52 mm bore, basically a Chinese copy of something better.
These machines will actually make you a better tradesman, as they are so poorly built and inaccurate and the need to compensate for this will keep you super focused on even the roughest of jobs!!!
They are REALLY poorly built. Don't think (lik...Read more
e us) that for 8 grand, " it should be ok", or "how bad could it be??" You get what you pay for, in this case around 8 thousand dollars of pretty average gear that will disappoint any machinist who has ever used the likes of a Colchester or similar machine. My advice, buy at a minimum, one of their TAIWANESE models or look for something quality second hand and go that way.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Parts Washer didn't work and their advise was to "Chuck it out"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought a parts washer and, after doing research on solvents, decided to use Mineral Turps. The pump never worked and they don't want to have anything to do with after sales service. They said because turps wasn't specifically mentioned (one way or another) it wasn't covered and that what I should do is "chuck it out". NO useful help AT ALL. I don't know what to do.
It did arrive at my house quickly anyway but the whole experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

Unfortunately faulty product provided, won't fix, replace or refund
Bought the CM-300 at their Coopers Plains store. The actual buying process went well, plus good to look at a machine tool store. Upon unpacking there was no instructions, so had to look at similar machines on youtube to work out how to assemble the few loose parts and operate the machine. Unfortunately on my second attempt at operating the CM-300, the arm broke on me. Notified Hare & Forbes, but advised that it was used outside of specification so nothing they could do. It was bending a 32x3mm piece of aluminium which is much easier to bend tha...Read more
n the 300x1.5mm aluminium sheet it is specified to be able to bend. The arm broke not because it was being used outside of specification (which it wasn't) but because the arm was made of faulty material. The arm broke not at the lubrication nipple hole which would be the weakest part but next to it. Also with only one arm on the machine it will still bend the 32x3mm Aluminium section. Oh well off to QCAT to get the matter sorted out. Wish they would handle returns in a proper way.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing value and amazing service.
I recently ordered a Hafco PD-325 pedestal drill from Hare and Forbes through their online ordering system. I read some of the bad reviews published here but from past experience I know it is usually only disgruntled customers that take the time to leave a comment and with their $50 discount voucher for new members it seemed like too good a deal to pass up.
First big surprise was the postage, $40 for a 58kg drill press to rural NSW looked like a mistake as most other places are charging over $100 but the order went through without a problem. I...Read more
