Solid machine
I have used the Mig 186 for over 5 yrs and had one issue in it's early days, was replaced under warranty straight away and it has been going well. I use it daily in my work shop on all steel up to 10mm. Best value for money in this current market.

Bossweld M100
Just purchased a Bossweld M100 gasless mig. What a great little machine. Very impressed with it's capabilities. Found it easy to set up and great for welding galv tube. At the price of $249 this is great value for the home handyman. It is also very light weight which makes it very portable.

Great Aussie product. Works very well. Welds thin metals.
Was initially skeptical of gasless welding, as I have used gas mig and tig previously. Very pleasantly surprised.
I have been using a 'multipass' wire from a specialty welding store (I will post the specs etc later - too cold to go the shed now) and the amount of slag is very low. So low that a brisk brush will remove 99% of it!
I have welded 1.2mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm and above in sheet, rhs, shs and exhaust pipe. I have not needed to use very high power settings at all and the wire feed is set quite low (2 from memory). Thicker metal will obviously...Read more

Absolute pieces of crap
Bought a bossweld tig 161 A/C D/C / HF from burnback in Perth about 3 years ago only had machine for about 2 weeks and used it twice in that time and it broke it self took it back to burnback who promptly repaired under warranty since then i have probably used it 3 to 4 times in last 2 and a half too 3 years and its probably done about 1.5 hours welding in that time and its broke itself again called burnback going to cost me $100 dollars just to diagnose problem then parts and labour ontop of that would never buy another bossweld welder as long as i live and wouldn't recommend to anyone unit cost me around $1300 3 years ago.

OK for the price.
I bought one of these machines about 12 months ago for home hobby usage and it welds OK, but the wire supplied with the unit is very soft and kinks at the drive rollers very easily. This means you have to pull the wire out of the liner from the drive roller to the hand piece and feed through a new section of wire, before you start welding again. Very frustrating and time consuming. In the process of fixing the kinking wire problem, the cover over the drive rollers keeps falling closed over the area you are trying to work in, so I took the cov...Read more
er off to solve this problem. I am onto my second roll of gasless wire and find the new Lincoln wire I am using now, is a lot more rigid and I have not had the kinky problem I had before. I found the machine did not like running on household power even though I had a dedicated 15 amp outlet for it, I solved the problem by hooking two Honda 2EU generator sets in tandem (equivalent to 4KVA) and the welder runs beautifully off these. I had these gen sets for other purposes and do not suggest you invest $4k just to run a welder. In a past occupation I was a boilermaker welder for more than 12 years and found the quality of the welds is generally good, the penetration obtained with this machine is good and the variety of materials able to be tackled is also good. I have welded sheet metal successfully with it as well as built a tandem axle trailer chassis using the welder at virtually full bore to get the strength of weld I needed. As stated above OK for the price.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have been looking everywhere for a mid-range mig 150amp ebay has lots of bad quality grap and the bossweld 150 seems good value for money?

That is a statement not a question. I know nothing about the Bossweld 150 but it should be fine as the Bossweld range is good quality.
Hi Jeff. Mine has been going strong since new. Like anything I guess, there can be issues but that's technology for you. I've heard just as many horror stories of cigweld, austarc etc. I has warranty, it's legally enforceable so if it's within your budget and your intended workload for it then I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Bossweld 186 which I own. Remember to swap the orientation of the feed spool thingo as it's set for gas-wire (well mine was) and was chewing up my gaslesswire because it is softer and the feed would block. As soon as I sorted that (2 minutes) it was awesome. I've welded up gates, a chicken pen, a set of extractors and replaced the cat convertor on my car with it. So yeah, impressed with my unit. The 150 should be of similar capability.
Thank you for your reply....Jeffrey
