What a powerful little beast.

published

Always enjoyed metal fabrication & laying that perfect weld down every time is a must. Setting this little beast up was simple, quick & the way Unimig has made the Viper 182 is perfect for me.

Purchased in April 2021 at Total Tools for A$655.00.

Was recommended by a friend, This is awesome welder, coming from just a stick, makes my little jobs fun. Easy to use was given a run down by where I bought it from Sedl Agencies on how to use it and install wire correctly.

I can’t believe how good this machine is

published

I’ve owned a basic Mig Welder for home hobbyist work for twenty years and can’t believe how good this machine is. I’ve always used solid wire/argon and that’s how I use this machine. Neat features like burn back control to prevents those constant wire sticking problems, and the manual feed button for loading and trimming wire.

But best of all it produces beautiful welds, without stutter, I’m loving it.

Purchased in December 2021 for A$600.00.

Great home workshop welder.

published

The welder has done all that I have asked of it since I bought it. I, as yet, haven't tried the stick welder as the MIG is doing everything I need. As the title says, great home workshop welder.

Purchased in September 2021 at United Tools for A$700.00.

Cheap and nasty!!! Don't waste your money

published

The title says it all. Total waste of money. Built worse than the titanic. Cheap build quality from the flimsy parts to the loose screws holding it together. And the guide settings for material thickness was totally useless. It's more suited to being a kids toy than a proper welder.

Purchased in February 2021 for A$650.00.

Great home welder

published

This viper is a great little home welder, I love the mig in particular, it was easy to set up following the instructions and after a little practise it performed very well. The stick welding side of this welder took some more practise and was a little more difficult to master, however much more acquainted now. The instructions were great and I believe the quality of the Unimig is also great. I would recommend to buy this unit (a friend already has !) . I got a good deal at Sydney Tools and the guys looked after me well. In hindsight, I would have purchased a better quality helmet, as it doesn't matter how good the welder is if you have trouble seeing the weld. Overall Unimig was a great purchase for me.

Purchased in September 2021 at Sydney Tools.

Fantastic welder.

Bought from Nubco Launceston. Welds everything from .6mm steel through to 10mm with no problems, no overheating whatsoever. Used with gas and gasless wires but prefer gas. Stick welding is good, but find it a little hard to start somtimes. Puts good size filets down no worries. Being a retired Boilermaker makes it easy to use.

Purchased in December 2021 at Nubco Launceston for A$649.00.

Cannot fault this welder

published

This is a great multipurpose welder for a very reasonable price. I think the duty cycle is understated by Unimig as I have welded for decent periods with no problems. The best part is the 10amp plug and with a long lead the inverter welder will burn 3.2 rods no problem right up the backyard.I use the .9 flux cored wire and have no probs with 1.6 shs. I wish I had gotten one sooner. Johno

Hand piece finally turned up welds better than when it was new so must have lemon from the start so with cost of repairs and freight I could have brought better

Excellent little welder

published

Ive had the 182 viper for 18 months.
I ran gasless for 6 months and was very happy with the outcome.
I then got gas and this little welder is now comparable to much much larger and more expensive welders that ive used.
The duty cycle is only 10% at 180 amps.... i beleive this means 6 mins per hour..
Although this sounds like not much welding time i dont often run it at max power and it has never shutdown for cooldown.
I love this welder..

Purchased in November 2021 for A$530.00.

What connection is required for a tig torch ? and what is the part number for the knurled feed roller for flux cored wire,
thanks

1 answer
UNIMIG
UNIMIGUNIMIG

The VIPER 182 will only do Scratch Start TIG and as a result, the 17V TIG Torch is what you'd be after (Part number: 17V-4MCP50). With the roller, the size is 30/10 and an F Groove. The part number will vary depending on the wire size you are running.

Is it safe to purge the gas line, for storage, after completing welding similar to purging oxy/acet gas lines.
